We are now a family of five which makes cruising much more costly. From what I've seen our best option is to book two cabins. Our children are 1, 6 and 8.

A cruise that we are considering has IGT and OGT rooms available. Historically, this is how we've booked DCL. I completely understand there are no guarantees and we can be placed anywhere. My hope is that DCL considers linked reservations when making the assignments. Looking for personal experiences/insight....Does anyone have any experience with cabin assignments for IGT/OGT linked reservations?

  • Were your cabins adjoining?
  • Near each other?
  • Same Room Host?
  • Same Serving Team?
  • Which ship?
Any insight that you can provide is appreciated. I truly wish DCL had more options for larger families for less expensive interior or ocean view cabins.

As you noted, there's no guarantee that you'll be placed next to each other. Or, even if you are, whether the rooms will actually be connecting.

We've done 2 OGT bookings (2 rooms and 3 rooms). Both times on the Wonder and we were placed next door to each other.

DCL does seem to try to put linked reservations together, but as you noted, there's no guarantee. I know there have been reports in the past where parties were split up (even on different decks).

Dining seating won't have anything to do with room assignment. If your reservations are linked, you'll be seated together.

We recently booked 3 rooms on an OGT rate and when we received our assignments all three cabins were next to each other with two of them connecting. We were very happy with the assignment.

My best friend and I did a VGT/IGT that we linked and were on the same floor, fairly close, but not adjoining. However, in our upcoming cruise, they did not have an IGT, she booked an interior GTY, and I booked a VGT, and we are on different floors. It really seems to just depend on what is available.
