If anyone has successfully been able to change either their resorts or dates originally booked with the 40% discount after March 15th I'd like to hear about it! Likewise those who werent successful! I'm trying to decide if it's worth me being persistant about trying to make the change or accept my current ressies and work my ADR's around it. I had tried to make changes before the 15th with no luck but havent tried since! I'm booked at the BC Oct 3-7th and was considering trying for a monorail resort!

I tried yesterday and was unsuccessful. I don't think anyone has had any luck though. :(

We have a package with dining booked and paid for at All-Star Sports for 9 nights beginning May 29th. I used the AAA 40% code. My wonderful AAA agent tried for several weeks to switch us per my request to Pop Century and even All-Star Music but there was no availability with the 40% code. If I wanted to give up the 40% off and go with the standard AAA discount which is 15% then I could have had any of the Values. Needless to say, I decided All-Star Sports would be absolutely wonderful for my two teenage sons and I!!! ;)
My agent tried both before and after March 15th to switch us. I felt bad having her check all the time so I finally told her one day last week that Sports would be fine and she could stop trying to get our reservations switched.
Now we're just waiting not so patiently for the next two months to pass!!! :thumbsup2

Ok.. I might be able to shed some light on this.. I got some info today on this.

For Those Who Are Booked on an expired promotion : IE : Free dining, 40% off etc..

Extending your stay at one end or the other - OR

Switching Resorts : Apparently specialists at guest services can do this if they can find availability at the resort. The front line CMs at the reservation center cannot do this for you. Since the booking window is closed for that promotion.. they will continually show no availability when trying to SWITCH resorts. HOWEVER... Apparently the CM at CRO can call Guest Relations. Then if it is at all possible.. they will try to help you out. Not all requests can be accommodated. So.. ask the CM .. they will say no.. then politely ask them to speak to supervisor or call Guest Relations because your understanding is that they might be able to help with this.

Obviously if you have a AAA booking, your AAA agent is going to have to make that call and request the supervisor or that the CM contact guest services.

I hope this helps.

I did change mine a couple of days ago......was not easy thou. I finally got someone that understood WHAT it was I wanted to do. I was set for the CSR and I wanted a deluxe, He had to call over to Guest services, which I think....try try to get what it is your looking for. I ended up at the BC...215 a night. so I am happy with that. I tried 4 different CM.s before getting anywhere thou.

That sounds about right based on what I was told earlier.

It took me three calls and three supervisors until I finally got a supervisor that understood what I was trying to do!!! They seem to not understand that I was already had a discount and already had a reservation.

I changed two reservations- one was a package and one was room only. I did not change the resorts just the dates. The first few times I was told there was no availablity. My reservations are for September so obviously there is availaibity...it is just that the code/discount is no longer active so it creates some confusion. Keep trying- I don't know if you will have any luck changing resorts..but ya never know!

I thought I would add this for those of you hoping to get a room at that was previously showing unavailable. When I booked with the code, there weren't any rooms at Poly for the time we wanted to go so we booked GF instead. I still wanted Poly though and continued to call for weeks trying to get it.

Finally, I talked to a CM that was understood that I had been calling every few days for this. He told me that if its unvailable with the code then its unavailable. If someone cancels there reservation it doesn't go back into the pool of rooms available for the code, it goes back into the regular rooms.

So once a resort is booked up that's it, even if people cancel.

Of course, that's just what I was told. I don't know how true or untrue it is. But I was very disappointed b/c I would really like to be at the Poly instead. But we got a great rate at GF and will have an excellent time.

kt_mom raises a good point that Trekker raised much earlier in the thread.

This was a pretty popular promo... so switching resorts for anything more than a 3 or 4 night stay.. might be pretty hard to do EVEN IF you get the help of the folks at Guest Services.

Just an FYI.

due to airline issues I wanted to just change the dates by one day. Going one day later. My TA did it for me with no problem.

I tried to change our reservation tonight but couldn't. We're currently in the South Wing at the CR. No other option at the CR was available at the time (only opther option was GF) but tonight I wanted to see if we could change to the tower. The CM was very helpful--she put me on hold for a bit and I think she had called guest relations to check but there wasn't any availability. She told me to keep calling to see if anyone cancels. My hopes are high that eventually we'll be able to get to the tower but if not we'll be happy enough in the wing.

I have the 40% code. Yesterday, I called to change my room-only ressie to a package with dining, and that was no problem. (I was referred to Guest Services to do this.) I wanted to add days and was told I could add to the room-only, but I couldn't add days to the package. That doesn't make sense to me.
My ressie is for 7 days, and I originally wanted to change from 9/14-9/21 to 9/18-9/25 due to better airline rates, but I could not do that. She would have let me keep the package with the original dates and add room-only days at the 40% code rate, at least that's how I understood it. I ended up keeping my original dates, changing it to a package. I may try again to add onto my package.

That's messed up. I'm not even sure I understand what happened here. ;)

Knox,

I had 2 issues.

1) Could I change my dates from 9/14 - 9/21 and change it to 9/18 - 9/25 instead? She said no.

2) Could I change my room-only ressie to a package? She said yes. Then she said I could have added more days onto my original room-only. She said I can't add days to my package. That doesn't make sense to me! If you can add days to the room-only, then why not add to the package?

She suggested I could make a 2nd ressie to add the days at the 40% rate (maybe I was just assuming she meant 40%?), room-only. I thought about making my dates 9/14 - 9/25, but adding 4 days was too many days for me, so I kept my original dates.

Now that I think about it, she probably was telling me I could add days at the rack rate. No wonder you were confused! And apparently, so was I!
