what happened? Were the prognostications right on? Way off?

I thought it might be fun to see how the DIS DVC boards stack up as "predictors of availability".

So - how did we do for you?

Late last January I had a last minute business trip to Orlando come up. Hmm....I have 3 borrowed points from a cancellation that have to be used by 3/31/06. I wondered if I would be able to get a studio at BWV or BCV so I could stay an extra day and go to Epcot. I was able to get a studio at BCV, it was for a Thursday night, with 1 weeks notice. I think I had to borrow 10 more points.

I asked once what were the chances of getting a 2BR in Oct at VWL at 7 months...

The answer given was: easy. I think there were a couple of doomsday predictions though, I'd have to look up my thread to check.

The answer in reality was: easy. At exactly 7 months from checkout there were "plenty" of 2BRs available according to MS.

We wanted the GV at OKW but we own at SSR. So we booked 2bed plus studio at SSR and waited for the 7mon to open up. Dis generally said our chances were poor and we would be glad we had booked at SSR just in case. Well guess what? We got all our days at the 7mon window - no waitlists - and we are set to go.
OKW GV here we come!
(although dis'ers were wrong on this one - their advice was great and is always appreciated!)

I had asked what the odds were for getting a 1BR at BCV at the 7 month window for NYE. Everybody told me basically I had no chance. Imagine my surprise that there was one available exactally at 7 months out. I'm still waitlisted for BWV for the night (the rest of the week is at BWV), and if that waitlist comes through, I'll be one happy camper!

Late January 2007 I booked at home at the 11 month window and then at the 7 month window switched out to BWV. I got a guaranteed BW view in a 1bdrm without any waitlist.

I did call day by day.

I booked a studio at my SSR home resort for Oct 19-27 last Monday and waitlisted both the VWL and BCV. This is during F & W and MNSSHP and the threads were saying no chance! Got a call on Friday that both of my wait lists came through and I could pick the one I wanted. I decided to split stay so that I can spend some time at my other home VWL and try out BCV.

Also booked home SSR for January 1 - 8. No availability for anywhere else until the 4th of January. Waitlisted for OKW and BWV because I haven't tried them. Both of those waitlists came through 1 week later, but decided to stay at home SSR for a peaceful relaxing trip and DTD.

I have either had a lot of luck with the waitlist, or it really isn't as bad as some have said.

I waitlisted for BCV last Dec.(studio) (the coveted 1st week) at 7 months out and didn't get my waitlist.
I waitlisted for BCV (1 bedroom) for April Vacation at 5 months out with no luck.

My waitlist for Memorial Day weekend (studio) for BWV/BV at 4 months out came through last year.
I did a day by day switch for BWV/BV (studio) at 7 months the end of August with no problems.

I'm on the waitlist for BCV (2 bedroom)since 9 months out for the same coveted 1st week in December.
I added BWV to the waitlist at 7 months out.... I'm currently at VWL.

Booked Boardwalk preferred view from 8/1 - 8/5 in March...was offered Boardwalk view, and turned it down. Of course, I realized how stupid that was within a couple of days..but it was too late. CM put us in the waitlist...and low and behold...got an envelope in the mail just last week- our waitlist came through!

That original CM that took our waitlist request put us on the less than 30 day list, and that was a nice gift. We wouldn't have the view now if they hadn't. Pixie Dust for us!!
