If your playing Pokemon I'm judging you...

I use a FitBit. I actually hate to walk without it. I have increased my activity and am in better shape because of the data the FitBit downloads. My friends and I do competitions. It is a ton of fun.

Just for the record, does that qualify me as a moron?
Well I guess that makes me one as well since I haven't gone for a walk without an app or two in a long time. Either I'm with DH now playing this game (he suddenly will go for walks with me lol) or out for excercise and have a run interval app (since I can't run straight yet still not in good enough shape) and a music app going.

My DD family is out walking every night. SHe said one of the nicest things is finding a lot of families out as well. I guess that there is a lot in the Center so the little shops there are benefiting as well......you walk and see our local ice Cream shop or the coffee shop....well....... They are enjoying an increase in evening business.

Yes. I do see an increase in foot traffic. I loved walking these past few evenings and seeing everyone out and about. I hope this trend is here to stay.

I could see that. I went to the city next to ours last night with DH to play and they have a lot of little city artists that have an art walk set up. Most of the murals etc are poke stops so its getting people out and seeing them more as well.

It seems to do that. DD said they have explored so many areas in town and the next one over that she never thought about before. I admit that I was skeptical when she warned me that my DGD would probably want to play this weekend in NYC, but after the two of them told me all about the local landmarks that we barely have paid attention to, I am not going to rule the game out.

It really is nice that this game has managed to point out exhibits and landmarks that up intil now we might have just ignored becuase they were part of the "background"

Okay, but why should we care about your opinion? Aren't you the one that also refuses to use the Uber app because you think you will be murdered?

Why would you be any less likely to be murdered in a cab?
I don't tend to use either often but that is because we live in an area where you pretty much have to have a car and everything is spreadout. When I travel to other cities I'll use cabs, public transportation etc. Here if my car is in the shop for a day its cheaper to get a rental car then try to deal with public transportation.

Oh I'm sorry my grammar was not on point last night, it's called a "typo" and it comes from being irritated from sitting in traffic for 2HOURS while police ushered out the idiots who walked into a rotary yesterday to play this game...

Glad I'm not the only one who is judging!!! While I believe my judge was a good cause, (like I think YOU ARE a moron if you walk into the middle of the street to play an app, or need an app to go for a walk), I think YOUR judge was not, but to each his own.

2 hours? Are you sure the cops weren't playing too?

On the bright side, OP, at least you aren't the guy whose house was designated as a Pokémon gym. I've had a few heart-stopping moments while driving, thanks to pedestrians not being aware of their surroundings (walking right out in front of me while texting or just darting across traffic), and it's an awful feeling. I think there will always be people who are incapable of using common sense.

Edited to add this article: Holocaust Museum, Auschwitz want Pokémon Go hunts out
I think it all goes back to some people not being able to exercise common sense or common courtesy.

I think in a bit of time the really problematic sections will sort themsevles out. Like if a rotary is an issue the town will get it removed as a location. Places that are private residences will get moved etc.

Well... as long as everyone's being judge-y, let's all jump on the bandwagon and start calling the Pokemon-haters "idiots" and "morons" who hate spending time with their families, despise their kids, think walking is too much effort, and won't get out of their houses and cars to actually explore the world around them and be social. They'll probably all die soon of sedentary diseases and terminal loneliness.

Face it, OP, you're just not one of the cool kids.
Am I doing this right? :rotfl2:

Pretty much, but I think your post should have started with Well bless your heart...:D

Some of the teenagers I teach live in fear of being "judged" by others.

Most adults, though, grow to the point where they really don't care what others think, particularly strangers-- and strangers on the internet no less.

Nope, I don't play the game; I only found out 5 minutes ago what it was, thanks to some people here.

But I'm sure I do some other things you can judge me on-- "and not in a good way." And that's just fine.

But the "you're/ your" comments made me laugh.

When I go for a walk, I always use the music app to listen to my music.

I guess I'm a moron...

One of the best "reports" about Pokemon Go

"Ok, reporting in. Couldn't sleep so I downloaded the game and took a 3am walk. There is a little park a few blocks from me that had like three pokestops and a gym, so I wandered over there to see what the game could offer. Picked up an Evee outside my house and a couple of trash pokes on the way to the park.

So I get there and wander around a little checking out the stops and rustling around in the tall grass, then decide to go a few blocks away to see a couple more stops when I hear from the darkness a "Yo, my man!"

Turning I see two sketchy looking dudes sitting on a bench in the dark. I must have walked right past them without noticing them Great. One of them waves "My man, check over by the blue truck over there we got an onyx earlier."

So I wander over by the truck and sure enough there's a onyx there. Awesome. So I end up chatting with the guys for a bit, told em where I got my evee, they convinced me to join red team when I hit level five so we could "lock **** down" in the neighbourhood.

Then the cop shows up.

Yeah, so it turns out two twentysomething black dudes and a forty year old white guy chilling in the park at 3am looks strange. It took a bit of talking to convince the cop we weren't doing a drug deal, and a bit longer to explain the game. Then the cop downloaded the game on his phone and asked us how to get started.

Go red team."

When I go for a walk, I always use the music app to listen to my music.

I guess I'm a moron...

I always grocery shop with my earbuds in and music on. An elderly gentleman yesterday applauded me for figuring out how to make grocery shopping fun and enjoyable :) I told him any time I don't have to listen to my 2 boys bicker is a bonus!

But, you know, I'm also level 10 and have some damn good Pokemon in my pokedex. So I'm a moron too.

Except all the neighbor kids think I'm cool and fun, and I use video games as a way to connect with my kids. What a crap parent I am!

Glad to see the one constant still continues..... the usual suspects piling it on.....and on....and on.....and on.

This isn't a game I see myself playing. Even my 13 year old son has no interest in it. He and his friends still get out and ride their bikes all over town, play whiffle ball, basketball, swim, etc. :confused3

Yes, I roll my eyes at all the posts I'm reading about it but, whatever. I see this as the latest greatest and this, as with most other things, will fade in a short time. Then it'll be something else. I will say however, I'd rather see this silliness and roll my eyes instead of the constant back and forth with the upcoming election, the us vs them, etc.

My aunt (80) has a neighbor (late 60s) who often watches his grandchildren. Yesterday, there was a Pikachu in her backyard. The kids asked if they could come over to get it & when they heard she had a smartphone, they downloaded it for her and showed her how to play. Then they all went for a walk in the neighborhood together and she had a great time. She couldn't wait to tell us this morning.

What a bunch of losers!
