Thanks Grace! I really appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers that folks have been sending since that day. It has made a world of difference in how things have gone.
I also just realized I didn't post about what happened in here. I got it in a couple places and not here... I've been so mentally spent that I just ran out of steam last week and we're still trying to recover.
For everyone else out there (if I still have people out there!

), my 5 year old nephew was hit by a small (personal) truck on Oct. 18 as he was crossing the street to get on the school bus. He never saw it coming and my SIL witnessed the whole incident. (for the record, everyone did what they were supposed to do that day except the bozo who failed to stop)
I was working the front door at school when the accident happened and I heard all the sirens nearby (it happened ~ 1 mi from school). Suddenly the principal came and grabbed me and we were off. He was updating me as we drove to the scene.
The amulance had just pulled away when we got there so the principal did a couple things on site and then we took off for the hospital. Once we got there, we found out that he had a broken femur and some head trauma so they were going to airlift him to the children's hospital in Indianapolis. We made plans of who was riding with who and how we were going to get there and we were off again.
We got to the hospital about 3 hours later (it's a 2 hour drive and I spent an hour at school wrapping things up before we left - everyone was stopping me for information on his condition). They set surgery to repair his leg for later in the afternoon and they also discovered that he had a broken collarbone too!
He came through the surgery well, complete with new hardware in his leg. They also reset his collarbone while he was asleep.
He woke up for about 20 minutes the next afternoon and was back asleep until the next day. By Thursday, he still wasn't responding the way the doctors were wanting him too, so they did an MRI. By the time it was read (properly), we found out on Friday morning that he sustained a diffuse axonal injury. We don't know how the head trauma will affect him in the long run (it has shown some changes already), but as of today, he is on the mend enough (physically) to come home.
My two have been so upset over the whole ordeal. The kids are technically cousins, but they're more like siblings. DS got worn down enough and ended up getting the flu this weekend. I was so down (I'm a depressive eater) that I gained 5 lbs over the course of 6 days.

I got back on track and I'm now up only 2 lbs from what my ticker reflects.
I think we've coped decently well. In times of stress, I do two things: eat and make stuff. I've covered the eating part, but DS, DD, and I threw ourselves into making things for my nephew. We made pictures and made some ghosts that we fashioned out of kleenex. Monday night, mom and I made him a pair of new lounge pants. I've got some more fabric to make another pair, and I made sure to get enough to make a pair for each boy. I
may have enough to make a 3rd pair for DD, so all the kids can match.
I've also been using Disney as my outlet from the stress. Planning for my trip, but also helping get a friend ready to hardcore plan for their June trip. We actually set it up for me to be a Fairy Godmailer to her kids in December. I'm going to send them a note saying whichever character I find for them can't wait to see them in June! I'm going to mail them from MK so they have the postmark and my friend is going to wrap them up for Christmas!

It's going to be A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!
The paper was willing to keep me busy too. They've sent me out on 11 assignments this month and I still have 2 more. It's a whopping 3x the number they cut me back to.

I'll be honest, we've had some unexpected budget-busters pop up and I was getting worried about my spending money. I'm PRETTY sure that I'm not going to meet my goal of losing ~42 lbs before the trip (it's just not going to be safe to lose > 20 lbs in 2 months). I'll be satisfied if I can get down another 15 lb before we go. Either way, I'm not going to reward myself with one of the big D&B purses, I'm thinking more along the lines of one of the wallets, because frankly, even though I'm not going to make goal, I've done pretty darn good for myself!
