If you have Santa's ear...Update post 25

Rosie:
I waited to reply to this because I had hoped I would know someone in my denomination in your area, and as fate would have it the leader of the state of Oregon was the minister that officiated at my wedding. Small world.

I am sure I could get your daughter an interview, and her skill set sounds like a good fit. But one sticking point, some in my denomination are Not forward thinking (not my friends, they are wonderful) and she might object to the conservative atmosphere. I really would not expect a problem, but better for her to know going in.

If your daughter would like, I could e mail you more info. I never have used the pm on here, if you would walk me through it I am sure I could do it.

I am about to put on my Mommy hat (kids home in 15 min. and afternoon appointments) but I should be able to check back @ 7:30pm or so. I am in the Eastern time zone, so keep that in mind.

Also, I feel certain you understand how strongly depression can grip you. If your daughter really turns inward, trust your instincts on how serious it is.

Rosie, I'll keep you and your DD in my thoughts.
It's so tough all over. Tell her to keep on chugging. She'll find something. Has she checked with state or local government agencies for jobs in social work, like child welfare?

My nephew is going through the same thing - good kid, smart, 2 degrees and can't get anything. I'm sure things will turn around for her soon. Just keep being a Mom and she'll do ok.

High paying nanny jobs are in VERY short supply these days. The type of people who employ nannies are the type of people who are being laid off in droves. Both of my bosses have had layoffs in their companies, but luckily they have been spared. The girls in my local nanny group typically post jobs they hear about on a fairly regular basis, and lately there just haven't been any.

Hoping your DD is able to find something soon!! :wizard:

Well folks not only did Zena get a job, but she got one that she can really sink her teeth into.

She'll be teaching classes for an after school program. Grades K-8. Everything from math to drama.

It's only half time at this point, but it's a foot in the door. Zena never does anything half baked and one of the reasons she got the job is they are hoping she helps to implement other programs for the school.

Thank you to each and every one of you who hoped and prayed with me.

Now I can go to Disney with a happy heart!!!

well it's only what, two weeks past christmas. Still an acceptable timing.

I'm still waiting for my gifts from my aunt... that bought the stuff long before the holidays.

Great news! It sounds like a really interesting opportunity. I know that will be a great relief for you, too! I'm glad.

Congratulations to Zena! Good jobs at schools can be particularly hard to come by and they usually involve starting part-time. So, it sounds like a fabulous opportunity.

Way to go!

WOW!

That sounds like a wonderful job!

Congratulations! :cool1:
