If you have breakfast in your room, what do you eat?

My BFF doesn't eat breakfast most of the time, but enjoys a nice TS breakfast every few days (we visit WDW for 10 to 12 nights).

My body began demanding nourishment in the morning about 10 years ago. I still don't like traditional breakfast food, and I want something fairly quick in my hotel room in the morning. I usually eat variations of:

Fruit. Prefer fresh, but canned will do. Usually vary fresh with the prepackaged fruit cups at WDW. Pack some fruit cups in checked bag (double bagging it) and purchase fresh at a grocery stop, supplementing it with fresh purchased at WDW.

Protein. Small amount--usually turkey. One of our local stores carries rotisserie turkey in the deli (cooked daily), which is my preference. However, not always available. Usually try for lower sodium, but will settle for most major brands--or store brand, if quality is known.

Carbs. Love my carbs! *LOL* At home I prefer multi-grain wheat toast, which isn't an option in a hotel room! I'll usually purchase some dinner rolls and the smallest amount of butter possible. Not ideal, but better than some of the alternatives.

If not renting a car, I'll usually book town car service with a grocery stop (Publix) from MCO to WDW, then schedule DME for the return trip.

I did a walmart run and bought some bagel thins, ham, cream cheese, milk, some soda

The night before I would toast a bagel. I like toasted but I don't care about hot. When I got to the room I'd throw it in a baggie and leave it on the counter. The next morning before I headed to the bus I'd throw some cream cheese and ham on the bagel. Grab a drink and eat while waiting at the bus stop. Easy Peasy.

I never did take snacks into the park because it was hot and honestly I didn't snack a ton on much but water and popcicles. I usually did a decent lunch and then dinner so I only needed just enough in the mornings (protein/starch) to get me going. I'm not much with cereal or pop tarts in the morning because of the carb crash, but ham and bread and pb and bread are my go to quick eats.

I do like to have a sit down breakfast occasionally but honestly as I've begun to value my off time more, I just want to grab a quick morning thing and hit the road.

We have done the DDP many times and we have always saved our creits for lunches and dinner. Very rarely to we buy breakfast. We're just not breakfast people. But to keep the kids blood sugar and energy up we get things to have in the room for breakfast, to tide them over til dinner or after a later night in the park. Here is what we have brought in teh past:

cheese sticks
cereal straws
mini boxes of cereal (you can actually pour the milk right into the box/liner. Just be sure to eat it quickly!)
pop tarts
Luna bars
Gogurts/yogurts & granola
juice packs
Qrt of milk
mini OJs/SunnyD

Some/most WDW rooms have mini fridges, but cooler work just as well, too!

On the road, just donuts. Once at our destination, we break out the electric skillet & can have cold breakfast OR:

*pancakes
*french toast
*eggs
*bacon
*ham/egg/cheese sandwiches
*omelets
*etc

I have seen families bring bread... or aunt jemima pre made breakfast items to the food court are in the hotels and make breakfast for there families...

I have a small family so usually peanut butter and fruit works well..
I don't mind when I see families doing this... It blows my mind how much they are spending already.. every bit helps...and the time saver.

When I was a kid my Mom would let me and my cousins pick out a box of cereal ( and it didn't have to be on sale.. cause it was VACATION) of our choice and thats what we ate for the time we were at WDW.

The only thing I haven't seen mentioned that I bring is applesauce-preferably in a pouch. Easy to eat on the go.

My DD eats a package of oatmeal with raisins EVERY morning for breakfast (sometimes she changes it up with grits and the raisins on the side) so if I can get a little coffee pot for us to take that's what we'll have in the morning. Easy to pack and quick to eat while everyone else is getting ready in the morning. We'll also take some apples & oranges, applesauce cups (the metal lid can double as a spoon in an emergency), and a jar of PB (we all love to just eat it on a spoon as a "PB Pop").

I'm having a "Why didn't I think of that?" moment. :rotfl:

My DD loves toasted bagels with PB. She is a kid who NEEDS something heartier than a poptart, so I was planning to run down to the foodcourt to toast a bagel in the morning. Never occurred to me to do it the night before. But she is used to eating them room temp, because I often send them in her lunch box. That will save a bit of time in the morning! :thumbsup2

In addition to everything listed, we also take Carnation instant breakfast. The kids think it is a treat to get chocolate milk for breakfast, but it also helps fill them up just a little bit more.

We bring the standards: cereal, pop tarts, granola bars, oatmeal and Dole fruit cups. We also have juice boxes and vitamin water too. We usually stop about 10 and have fresh fruit or healthy snack in the parks. We eat in the room to save time and make it for RD. I keep promising the kids a character breakfast but I love my sleep too much.

Yeah it works great for me, I will say though make sure the toast is room tempeture BEFORE you put it in the baggie. Condensation is a pain.

As a person who has never eaten anything but cereal for breakfast, I'm amazed at what people have for a typical breakfast. We bring cereal, buy milk and take granola bars for a mid-morning snack.

We used snack credits for breakfast - the night before we'd get some fruit or a bagel or a muffin or something and eat it in the morning while getting ready. But we're not big breakfast people - I've never needed meat or peanut butter or anything, just something to get me going.

I typically have a very, very light breakfast sometime mid-morning (think cereal bar sometime after getting to work). BUT, on vacation we load up at breakfast so lunch is cheaper and/or later than "normal".

We use snack credits for breakfast too!

We've been on either the reg. DDP or QSDP the last 5 or 6 times we have been and we rarely use our credits for breakfast (until we see how many we have towards the end of trip than all bets are off!).

Last year we would use a CS for 3 pastries many mornings but this is no longer allowed so we will have to change things a bit. Plus with only 1/2 the SC to use I don't think we will be using many SC for breakfast items.

That being said we always stop off at Super WM and pick up a few breakfast and snack items for the room. We too find it saves us a lot of time to eat in the room-especially the first few days while we are getting used to the 3 hr. time difference.

I used to run a fridge swap so we had a fridge in our room as well as a toaster. Now that all the values are getting room fridges (POP is getting them right now) we will plan on picking up an inexpensive toaster at WM for the room. To toast bagels, toast, Pop-tarts, etc.

Some of the items we pick up are fresh fruit, bread, bagels, Pop-Tarts (though we don't seem to eat them as much as we used to), sometimes donuts, cereal-we each pick out our favorite, yogurt, peanut butter ( I am leery of packing this due to scanners), and of course milk.

We typically go for 9, 10, or 11 days so we go through the cereal pretty fast. We may even make another stop later in our trip to get more cereal. We typically eat cereal or toast, etc with PB&J for our breakfasts at home.

When DD12 was much younger I would pack some of the individual cereal boxes in our suitcase and she would have those to start the day and snack on during the day. Worked out great. To this day she doesn't use milk in her cereal-eats it dry.

I really like the idea PP had of bringing frozen blueberries (or any fruit for that matter) as a TCA friendly icing product. We always pack food to eat on the flight to MCO (typically we are traveling from 5-7 or more hours) and I never thought of bringing something frozen to use as an ice pack. Brilliant! I will be using that idea next time we go.
