How likely is it that a small dog (about 15 lbs) will damage it with their nails?

:confused3

We got leather because of our dogs (we have 3) - they ruined the last fabric sofa we had. You will get little scratches in it - but we bought a sturdy leather in a decent brand (Natuzzi) and use leather balm and saddle soap on it regularly. It still looks brand new. Especially great when there are muddy paws on it! Just wipes clean.

Don't go for the buttery leather, it's not sturdy enough.

Hi... we got our leather living room sets.. twice.. because we have Scottish Terriers who have run of the house.. including the furniture. They have never damaged the leather.. ever. We do wipe down the furniture with leather cleaner wipes about twice a month. The first set of furniture was Navy with a smooth texture finish... .no damage ... The second set, expresso with textured finish... again no damage.

We do trim the dogs nails but they are not super short... and our dogs have been between 12 and 25 pounds... and they are a lively bunch.

We are on our second set of leather and I love it. The first set was a camel tan smooth finish. The leather held up good but the frame and all was not that good. Pottery Barn furniture so I expected more. The second set we just got a few weeks ago. The espresso color and more textured. Love it. I also got the sleeper sofa not for the bed so much but for the extra support for later on when the furniture starts to age. I use the spray that is made by the same company I bet makes those leather wipes you use. I love it. I spray it on a cloth and wipe down everything once a week. Cleans up so fast. I also rotate the cushions to help wear more evenly.

my dog is 60 pounds and we have no problems! love the leather! no dog hair sticks to it!

Isn't the leather cold? And what about cat's? I need a new couch and am really thinking leather.

funny that you ask this. Hrm how to answer... It all depends on what you let them get away with lol. If you don't let them they won't and if you do they will lol. We have a small dog Yorki/****zu mix and he likes to scratch on the leather but we used to tell him to stop and he would and then somehow we though awe look he looks so cute and now we have a few small tears lol so yeah it all depends on how you train your dog. But honestly since he is allowed on the sofa a fabric sofa would not have been an option because he eats his treats on our sofa and though he doesn't' shed I couldn't begin to imagine how I would be able to keep a fabric sofa clean I wipe down the leather all the time.

NOt likely at all.
I have a Boston terrier who weighs about 26# now (down from 30) and she jumps on the couch all the time.We have had it about 4 years or so now. It still looks just like it did when new (the leather that is, the back is a little pushed down where she lays on it to watch the traffic go by).

I love my leather set.

We just got one second hand from friends and they have 2 dogs, it's not damaged at all. They have a big dog and a small dog. We have a bigger dog and she loves it. I love the fact that she can sleep on it and it doesn't smell like her!
