If you couldn't ride the Roller Coasters-would you still go?

This last trip we rode only ONE tame roller coaster ride and it threw DHs back out

WE have been going for 25 years and it was sort of sad not riding our favorite rides
And the expense of going to WDW-I am really debating if we will go again!

The only saving part of trip-was the Food &Wine Festival-that we love

so -tell me-would YOU still go if the GOOD rides were 'off limits"??

I stopped riding roller coasters when my son was born 6 years ago!

Touring is much easier when you can skip the headliners. There are still TONS of rides to ride. Plus, you can slow down and see all the cool stuff that you missed while running from coaster to coaster!!

(And in a pinch, you could ride while hubby does something else).

absolutely! We spend tons of time doing character meets (which I used to find boring but now love) watching shows, riding the tame rides, snacks!

I have rather severe motion sickness and many rides are off limits to me. I also don't deal very well with large crowds.

do we still go ?

We come from Europe, airfare is over $1000pp, we stay onsite for 3 weeks with UK 21 days tickets (this year it will be old key west) and total vacation cost is well over $15k for a family of 3

We have Disneyland Paris 1 hour from home (and we're passholders at DLP)

do we still go to WDW despite all of that ? YES WE DO.

there are so many things to do and enjoy at WDW that going to the parks is something we don't consider a priority at all.
Just strolling down mainstreet and watching the evening shows is worth the trip

I could not ride any thrill ride since I was pregnant on our vacation and last few day visits.

While I look forward to my first trip being able to ride the rides, I did not hesitate to go just because I had ride restrictions.

As it is, Space Mountain and EE are on my permanent do not ride list due to a physical constraint. So already, I am limited. :-/

As others said, there is so much at Disney that I don't let ride restrictions get in my way to enjoying the things I can do.

Absolutely- For us, there's much more to WDW than just rides.

Exactly, too many other things to do then just rides. I know rides are a big part of a WDW vacation, but even the most tame ones are really fun. My favorite rides in all of Disney are Soarin, TTA, COP, and any of the dark rides. Then of course you have the many shows, One Man's Dream, and just being able to stop and smell the roses. Besides the parks, there are a plethora of things to do outside the parks. You have been going for a long time, so I am not going to write about all of fun things that Disney has to offer besides the parks. However, I will tell you, you shouldn't stop going to a place that you and your DH loves just because you can't ride a couple rides. If you really wanted to, maybe you can ride the rides that you can still do and have DH meet you at the exit or in the gift shop, I mean that is what I would do if my DH couldn't ride the popular rides anymore and I still can :goodvibes.

I can't ride most of the thrill rides and still go.

Never done the tea cups, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Everest, Rockin Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Mission Space, ToT, Test Track or Soarin. And we still have a great time.

I am looking to try Test Track and Soarin this trip though. I think I can manage those. But I have horrible motion sickness so even mild roller coasters aren't exactly enjoyable. I do them for the kids.

Definitely! I leave in 9 days for a mommy / son trip. DS is 3 and currently 39.5" - which means ALL 40" rides are not going to happen, including my two favorites - Splash Mtn and Soarin'. Of course I'm bummed that he didn't grow that extra half an inch before our trip, but I'm certainly not going to cancel my trip. There is SO MUCH more to WDW than the few rides we won't be able to do.

With DD3 & DD5 roller coasters are now not an option, and we still love going. Growing up an hour from cedar point meant that WDW "thrill rides" were low on the thrill meter for us. Disney excels at theming and immersion. The feeling of walking into another world and the joy on our kids' faces is what keeps us spending the big bucks. There is so much to do that we always leave with a list of things we missed that we are saving for next time.

We live an hour away and will often go at the spur of the moment. That means we don't usually get to ride any of the headliners, and often nothing at all, as we don't have FP and we don't want to wait in long lines. There is just something wonderful about simply walking around the parks and enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of Disney. Now, if I had to pay airfare, hotel, full price tickets, and had children who wanted to ride, I might feel differently. We're lucky in that if we can't do something one day, there is always another day to try again, or I can plan a day and get FP's.

My advice is to ABSOLUTELY NOT GO. ;)

(That way, there's fewer people in the parks for when I go. Hee hee.)

In all seriousness, I'm a huge thrill-seeker….the coasters are my favorite, especially Expedition Everest. I was just at WDW in February for the Princess Half-Marathon weekend, and I went with a friend who HATES the thrill rides. So…no coasters for me. But we still had an amazing time - it was nice, actually, to slow down a bit and not worry about if we had FP+'s for the major thrill rides…. We enjoyed the characters, the shows, the parades, shopping, and some of the more tame rides.

Of course! There is so much to do besides roller coasters and the like. In fact, my boyfriend and I aren't even huge fans of them, but I ram more likely to ride them than he is (he does it to make me happy, I think). If a few rides were "off limits" I would still love going just as much.

My next (short) trip WILL be without roller coasters! My daughter isn't a thrill-ride kid, so I'm skipping DHS altogether (my favorite ride is R&RC, so it hurts a little, but I'll make it LOL). I might get on Everest, but I had fully planned to skip them all when I first booked these few days. So much other stuff to enjoy there.

Another vote for yes indeedy I'd go. I'm not getting any younger (will celebrate my 29th anniversary of my 29th birthday in less than a month) so some of the coasters have been off limits for me for a few years. I rode RRC a couple of times when it first opened and after getting off it with my neck hurting I stopped doing that, last time I was at the World I didn't ride Test Track or Space Mountain, TT had too long of lines and I had already used my FP and SM was down (again). I haven't done Splash Mountain in years since I don't really need to walk around with a wet body. I do still do TOT and always will and I do the Mine train but neither or those are really jerky. I also ride EE but it doesn't seem to hurt, I haven't ridden Dinasour the last few times but again just because of the lines and it wasn't interesting enough for me to wait for. As I've gotten older I find I don't really ride a lot of rides any way, I go to shows, I enjoy the resorts, I walk around and just enjoy the place. When I'm with my son and DIL we do tend to ride more rides just because they like to but when I'm solo, not so much. I'm even thinking of skipping Toy Story this trip just because, well, I'm a rebel. I'll be there in May, solo, and am considering not booking any FP just going with the flow since I'm going mostly for F&G any way.

Dh can't ride roller coasters and we have had APs for years. Sometimes I ride 1 while he waits (I use a FP or go first thing in the morning) and we do plenty of other things together including enjoy calm rides, shopping, dining, and enjoying details.
