If you couldn't ride the Roller Coasters-would you still go?

Never met a coaster I didn't like but if they became off limits we'd still hit Disney yearly. Some of our favorites include People Mover, GMR and the horse trolley up Main St.

Yes definitely! There are tons of things to do aside from the big roller coasters!

I can't ride most of the thrill rides and still go.

Never done the tea cups, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Everest, Rockin Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Mission Space, ToT, Test Track or Soarin. And we still have a great time.

I am looking to try Test Track and Soarin this trip though. I think I can manage those. But I have horrible motion sickness so even mild roller coasters aren't exactly enjoyable. I do them for the kids.

I, too, have severe motion sickness AND detest the "falling feeling," so I am not a coaster girl. However, Disney World is my FAVORITE vacation spot! There's so much more to do than just the "thrill" rides.

Dis703, I haven't ridden anything on your list of "can't-do" rides except for TestTrak and Soarin'. TT is not my favorite, but I can handle it once, although the outside high-speed curve makes me a tad queasy. It's still fun and over so quickly that I am usually OK. Soarin' usually isn't a problem, even though I don't usually do too well in IMAX-type projection things. The good part of Soarin' is if I start to feel queasy, I just close my eyes and if goes away! I also have no problems with BTMRR- as long as I only ride once!

One problem I had last trip was on 7DMT. I was fine on the ride until the cart stopped at the Cottage. I was suddenly overwhelmed with the most awful motion sickness. NOT queasiness, but full-out motion sickness. It was all I could do to get off the ride and find a place to sit, and even after sitting for about a half-hour and having something to drink, I still didn't feel 100%. It was pretty disappointing.

Abso-freaking-lutely! :thumbsup2

As much as we love certain rides and the parks, last time I skipped MK all together and still had a fabulous time! There is so much to do all over the world and at the resorts, you're never bored. I even discovered how lovely it is just to sit on the balcony and not do a thing!

Oh wow, I'm disappointed to hear that about 7DMT. Do you think it was because of the rocking motion of the cars? I am a little concerned about that. We haven't had a chance to go on it yet as it opened the week after we were there last year. But we have several FP set up for this trip.

I have pretty similar issues. The dropping sensation is just awful so I avoid those as much as I can. I also get queasy and dizzy watching IMAX films but I've heard the same from others that if you close your eyes it should be okay. Crossing my fingers on that one! BTMRR I can do once but I avoid at night if I can.

I take Bonine but it doesn't do a whole lot for me. But we still keep going back again and again because there are plenty of other things to do and see.

There were always a few rides that DH and I wouldn't ride and we added to the list as we got older. The last few trips together there were several that he wouldn't ride but I did. Don't be afraid to ride alone.

As others have said, there is much more to WDW than a few thrill rides.

Disney is not about thrill rides, though it is nice to have the moderate Disney thrills.

Disney is about nostalgia, magic, Pixie dust and all the things Uncle Walt themed for us all.

I am not a big Roller Coaster fan to start with so that's an easy question to answer! I'm more of a Pirates fan so you can see where we're going with that. Now, my husband and two sons are another thing entirely! they LOVE Rockin' Roller Coaster, Indiana Jones (Disneyland) etc. the faster and longer the ride, the better. If they didn't have roller coasters to ride I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to go. Luckily, there is something for everyone!

I won't be able to ride any roller coasters or other "thrill" type rides on our upcoming trip (we leave in two days!!) as I'm pregnant and I'm looking just as forward to this trip as I have to any other Disney trip. Truth be told the only thing I'll really miss is having my avocado margarita at La Cava and the Grand Marnier slush in France!

I'm really looking forward to having some more downtime not rushing to rides and focusing more on people-watching, taking great pics and shopping! There are so many wonderful things to see and do at WDW, honestly the roller-coaster type rides are some of the last things I consider when I'm daydreaming about my trip!

We don't really do roller coasters any more. We checked out the Seven Dwarfs one in January but that's about it for the past 2 years due to DHs bad back. But then I don't really associate Disney with being thrill ride/roller coaster type parks.

This last trip we rode only ONE tame roller coaster ride and it threw DHs back out

WE have been going for 25 years and it was sort of sad not riding our favorite rides
And the expense of going to WDW-I am really debating if we will go again!

The only saving part of trip-was the Food &Wine Festival-that we love

so -tell me-would YOU still go if the GOOD rides were 'off limits"??

I broke my neck back in 2005. Was in a neck brace for the summer and then was told to avoid situations that could damage the area. So, I didn't ride any thrill rides at Disney World for almost five years until things were healed enough (my doctor at that point said he was more concerned with me driving in Atlanta traffic every day than riding a roller coaster). But, my husband and I still went to Disney World and I still had a great time. Since he could ride the thrills, I just went in line with him and then before boarding, I just said "one to ride, one to exit" and left and then we met at the exit. Did I miss the attractions I couldn't ride? Sure, but I enjoyed the things I could do and since I couldn't do certain things, we found other things I could do and we continue to love those even now.

To me, thrills don't make a Disney World vacation. It's just being there with someone I'll spend the rest of my life with.

There's more to WDW than the coasters IMHO. Of course I'd still go............and I love the coasters most especially EE and Splash Mountain!!!

I use to not be a rollercoaster fan until I rode Montu at Busch Gardens in Tampa some years back. What got me to ride that is a long story!! Even with me now being a somewhat rollercoaster rider, I still would go even if there weren't coasters or for health reasons couldn't ride Space or Thunder or the like. It's the experience and the frame of mind that I go for. If I let the kid in me go, then life wouldn't be fun anymore!

i love all of the headliners and ride them multiple times. but i went last year 24 weeks pregnant so i couldnt do any headlining rides and it was still fun. i love disney for all aspects of it. if you do as well then you should still go

Depends. There are many rides besides roller coasters that are not recommended for people with bad backs. If the question is, "would you still go to WDW if you could not ride any ride that could impact your back?" then the answer would be, not likely. Certainly not as often. Sure, there is more to WDW than "thrill rides" or, rides in general. But in almost every instance, when you look at the "everything else" that one can do at WDW, such adventures and opportunities can be had in other venues that are better and cheaper. Want to hang out at the pool? I can think of a whole lot of places with nicer pools (and beaches) that cost a fraction of what Disney charges for a resort with a decent pool. I'm certainly not going to Central Florida to hang out at a Value or Moderate pool. And why stay at a Deluxe for its pool when I could rent a place on Siesta Key for less money? Want to enjoy diverse dining? I can think of a whole lot of places with better restaurants than those at WDW. I'd go to San Francisco and Napa Valley if I want a culinary vacation. Want to walk around and enjoy the scenery? National Parks are practically free. Take Everest, the Safari and Kali Rapids out of Animal Kingdom and I could still have fun. But I would rather allocate my resources elsewhere. Cheaper to go to the San Diego Zoo. Yes, I enjoy doing lots of other stuff when I am at WDW, but that is because I am already in WDW. But if the focus of my vacation was to hone in on the "other things that Disney has to offer", I would take a hard look at what those things are and would likely choose to vacation elsewhere. Just being honest. None of this is to say that I wouldn't have fun at WDW, and none of this is to say that others wouldn't either. But my time and resources are limited, and if I were to spend time and money to go on vacation to walk around, observe, swim and dine, I would choose to do it elsewhere.

If no one in my group was doing thrill rides, I don't think we'd go to a theme park vacation, even with all Disney has to offer. Ditto how JimmyV described it. However I did go once when none of my group did any thrill rides - DD was 3 and grandma and grandpa wanted to see her enjoy disney, between the 2 age extremes we went at their pace. One other trip, most of my family did all the headliners, but I was sidelined due to pregnancy & still had a great time.

Now, though, the coasters are my favorite part and some of the kids' as well. I wouldn't plan a vacation there at this point if we couldn't do them.

Yes. I have done several trips where I couldn't do the roller coasters. For instance, I went when I was pregnant. Since then, we always bring our kid. She has been too short to ride the headliners (until our upcoming trip next month). She is 41 inches this trip Sometimes if she napped we would ride a coaster, but for the most part we just did the attractions all of us could experience.

Another "yes!" vote here. My last few trips I haven't been able to ride some of my favorites because I travel alone with my DS2 and he's not tall enough to ride any of the "fun rides" yet - hoping for Barnstormer in September! But, there is plenty to do otherwise and we still have an amazing time, every time!
