pick anywhere in the United States to retire (not Florida), where would it be and why? Since we have lived in Florida our entire lives, DH and I would like to retire someplace else. Any ideas?

My vote would be Hawaii, but I love beaches and tropical settings. Since you've lived in Florida, it's probably old hat to you.

I hear Colorado is nice, if you want to go mountains now.

Western North Carolina. Beautiful mountains, nice people, beautiful mountains, relaxed pace of life....did I mention the beautiful mountains. Really, if you are into the Rocky Mountains, the Appalacians look like hills, but they are beautiful anyway.

Alaska...Anchorage AK to be exact. It's just beautiful country and I do miss living there even with the cold weather!

I'd like to fill my truck up with gas, then when I run out of gas, that's where I'd like to retire. I just hope I don't get lost and drive around in circles and get stuck retiring in my own backyard.
