If you boycotted the Dixie Chicks...

I use to listen to them now it makes me sick just to see them. When they came on the Grammys or if they come on a count down I just change the channel and come back later after they are done.

When they won album of the year, their acceptance speech was so over the top and childish. They need to move on as does everyone else I think.

I still can't stand them. >.<.. I'm "Not ready to make nice" with them either.

I probably would never have listened to them if they hadn't taken a political stance, and now I have their songs on my ipod. In general, I don't do country music.

Ditto. I loved their performance tonight at the Grammy's... I would have never been interested in their music before. I learned about athem from the media coverage of their slam against George Bush.

They are Americans who deserve Freedom of Speech...

I like them a lot...

Again, great performance tonight...very moving. And, for the record, I think they got a great response from the audience...

I don't think anybody is arguing against that.... OTOH, we can choose now to no longer enjoy them because of what they say and do.

They do have freedom of speech but they why did they do it on foreign soil.

I never really cared for them before and after seeing them again tonight I remembered again why. My 7 yr.old is more mature than that. As a huge country music fan, I think that they are a disgrace to the music that I have grown up with and love. They had such potential that it is a shame that their lack of maturity overshadowed their musical talent.

It's interesting that their feud with Toby Keith was that they referred to his song, Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue as ignorant. They can say and sing about whatever they want but apparently others aren't allowed?? They need to understand that they can't have it both ways, if they have the freedom to run off at the mouth then others have the right to express their opinions as well.

I admit that I didn't listen to the acceptance speech for album of the year so I'll reserve judgment on whether their comments were immature or not. However, I won't boycott them. I celebrate their right to their opinions and their right to say what they want.

I listen to other performers I don't agree with in fact. I don't care what their political views are; I listen to certain performers just because I enjoy their music. I enjoy the Dixie Chicks music and that's good enough for me.

Agreed! I support them and like them, but would never have started to listen to them had it not been for the inane protests about what they said, lol.

Loved them 'before', love them now! Seems there are a few who were sure the Chicks would suffer some awful fate but - nope. Yep, 'inane protests' :dance3: for sure. ;)

will you ever be able to move on and just enjoy their music again?

Watching the Grammy's it doesn't seem like the audience is all that entralled with them. And I always think these awards are 'fixed" anyway, to fit someone's or some groups agenda.... Their newest CD / Tour was a "bomb" when compared to the previous stuff, if I have my facts right.

They were one of my favorites over their first 3 CDs, now I can't even enjoy them at all. Probably never will again, either.

You know, I never really liked their music to begin with, Natalie's comments just cemented it for me. So, no I don't think I'll start listening to their music now.

While, I completely agree to their freedom of speech, celebrities need to realize that when they insult their fan base, they must pay the consequences.

Just as they have the right to say what they want, country music fans have the right to no longer buy their records.

I think they're some of the best singers vocally that I've heard in a long time. Their harmony is beautiful. However, their attitudes stink.

I will continue to listen to the albums I have, but I am completely disinterested in buying anything in the future! And not because of the remark about Dubya, but because of the way they have acted since then!:sad2:

As far as accepting the country music grammy, I think that is TOTALLY hypocritical and will end up hurting their record sales even more in the long run.

I completely agree with you. Everyone should have freedom of speech but should be prepared for the recoil...

I think Natalie's words in the last acceptance show recognition that they didn't necessarily win because they were the best, but because The Grammys were using their "voice" to express an opinion. In that situation, I think it's the wrong platform to exercise that right.
