If you book thru Costco (standard room), can you call DLH and request a room?

Has anyone been in a standard room? What are they like and where are they? Is there one tower that is better than another? (It seems like the Sierra tower is the DIS board favorite :) ). My biggest question is if Costco makes the arrangements, can I call the hotel and put in requests? Does anyone have any suggestions? It looks like when I book it, I can ask for a "room with a view" so to speak but it's also another $250 - yikes! I am already spending way more than I should. We are die hard Candy Cane Inn folks and have never stayed on site before (can't afford GC and PP is too far away for us plus doesn't seem as Disney-ish). I am hoping that the splurge is going to be worth it! Any help is MUCH appreciated!

We booked through Costco in October, and I emailed vacation planning about 1 month out asking for a certain tower, upper floor, king bed, balloons and a photo for my dd... and they wrote back confirming my requests (said they would do their best on room preferences.) I also called 1 week before... and reiterated all my requests... they said they'd make a note. We got everything I asked for... :)

Thanks for the reply! When you said that you emailed vacation planning - was that Costco? When you contacted them the last time, was that the hotel itself or vacation planning? Which tower do you recommend or do you have any other suggestions as to a great location? I think I'll PM you too!
Anyone else have any experience with this?

Thanks again!

GTK! I was just wondering the same thing myself becasue we also booked through costco.

good info...thanks...I just booked through AAA and would also like to make a room/tower request and to have pictures for my kids ready....

We booked through Costco last year when we stayed at Paradise Pier. We booked a standard room, but when we got there I asked dh to ask for an upgraded room. We ended up getting a room with a great view of the park! It's definitely worth asking. If it's not a busy time of year, you'll most likely get accommodated.
