If we can no longer share on DDP then...

The problem isn't just cheaters. Many of us who read the old brochure and asked CMs are convinced that unused "child" credits could be used to obtain adult meals. I think too many greedy guests went overboard and necessitated the policy change.

We still don't have a definitive answer as to using credits to treat others. I can understand Disney not allowing it. Sammie says his contacts say Disney doesn't want it. The brochure doesn't really give any guidance. I've used the cruise and all inclusive examples to support the idea of not allowing this practice. BUT in practice there isn't any way for a cruise passenger to treat non-passengers and all inclusive resorts generally use wrist bands that not only lets guests know they can't treat but also facilitates enforcement.

Here is a little spin on the plan:

My kids are 6,6,4,4,4 and 2. We will have 5ts credits at dinner for them. I planned to use three and have them share.(leaving 2 kids credits left) Since they are all the same age 5 meals is too much. So we planned on a couple extra meals. We would pay out of pocket for us and use their kid credits for them. Thus us eating in more places and spending more money. If the new plan forces us to use all 5 kids ts credits at a time then we will have left overs and cancel some extra adrs. I hope they just seperate credits to avoid the problems. I think sharing is ok. Time will tell. We only have the plan this time because it is free. For us with our ages we usually buy the kids an adult meal/salad/soup and split it out that way.

Again, I know I have a special situation and we would not affect the stats on the plan but this is how it effects us.

Just came back form a trip June 10-17th. We never shared a TS meal because the kids always ate off the kids menu, and shared our appetizer, except at the Coral Reef. OUr server advised us that since no appatizer cam with the kids menu we could order the kids an appitizer off the adult menu. So, both DD's and DH had the Shrimp cocktail and I ordered the lobster soup. She also told us if we liked they could get dessert off the adult menu. SHe even told me if DD 3 wasn't hungry she could share. I don'remember the servers name, but I didn't think this was unusual. I don't see a problem with sharing a meal, especially with a child. However, I don't request that the meal be spilt. DD simply shares off my plate.

I feel if you want the entree split between 2 plates a surchare is not out of place, especially in finer establishments where plates are garnished and great care is take with the appearance of the dish, as this creates twice the work for the kitchen. If Disney changes the policy and you don't agree, then you have the choice to add the DDP or not.

I also want to add that at more than 1 CS resteraunt I was allowed to order DD (7) an adult meal. She always helped me with the trays and when ready to order, would tell me what she wanted. And it was never on the kids menu.Ad every time I was told by the CM not to worry about it, and they placed the order for what she wanted. DD (3) always shared my meal not her sisters so I was not trying to cheat the system. She maybe ate a kids meal 3 meals and an adult 3 times. So, I guess the answer is always ask the server. I don' feel it was wrong because I never deliberatly ordered an adult meal for my DD unless I was told it was OK to do so. It was actually soemthing that DD and I disagreed about. I told her she could eat off the kids menu. And she'd always ask and was told to go ahead. Guess I should have just made her sit down with DH but I couldn't handle all that food by myself without dropping something.

As for the sharing, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Ok lets see if any one can answer this please :grouphug: . We will be going to a charcter breakfast in the middle of our trip. There will be four of us, here's the question with four people on the DDP can two go on a seperate bill. Example four people two use 1 ts each, the other two pay out of pocket. Can this be done or they going to give us a hard time about using four credits becouse theres 4 people at the table. :confused3 Thanks Tina

I know I will get flamed :) but I can see why they would say no sharing on the dining plan. Now if you pay OOP I don't see how they could say you can't share..

Wow! I agree with WDWObssessed! :worship:

In your situation, with so many small children in your family on the plan, I think you have earned the right to use it any way you please! :rotfl2:

No flaming here, and I agree that no sharing should be allowed between adult/child. But what is wrong with sharing between my DH and me, especially if we don't ask for it to be plated seperately? :confused3

Did I miss something? Is there a new policy in place that states you cannot share at all??? I must admit I've never done the plan or claim to know all there is about it. In our situation we have 2 adults, One 11 years old who is considered an adult (so 3 Adults) and 1 child so I WAS planning on having my 11 year old split some of my meals as I know it will be a waste to order 3 appetizers, 3 meals, 3 desserts plus my younger daughter will have her own meal. When I say split, I mean they can certainly bring on one plate and just give me a plate for her. In most cases, I think she will probably only eat the appetizer and dessert and be happy and full. In my eyes this is not cheating the system in any such way. Of course at 'Ohana, Crystal Palace etc. we will use the required amounts. Please someone...give me the scoop!

Many restaurants (I am not talking just Disney) require that each person at the table must order or they tack on a "seating" fee.

I've never been to such a restaurant. I guess I'm just not as high class as you. :rotfl2:

You have if you've been to LTT. From the allears menu page for LTT's character dinner:
That is the same at all character meals in WDW and I don't consider them high class either! LOL!

Tink Fans...........this info has only come in the form of telephone calls and/or emails from WDW. We shall see if when it comes to the server if it really happens.

I am planning on almost the exact same thing as you. I just want to share a FEW meals with my DD10 who is an adult under the dining plan. But I'm not going to get worked up about it. If all of us have to order, so be it. This is free for my family this time. But it would preclude me from ever buying the plan.

I plan to try and share two meals. it is simply too much food on the dining plan. it's our first time and it's free. we plan to share at Sci Fi. I might pay OOP for a bowl of soup and then share his dessert. let him have the app and entree. I plan to do the same at Le Cellier- I'll order the app (soup) as my meal. He can have the entree and we'll share dessert. If they throw a fit, I'll just pay OOp for my soup. we'll see how it goes.
