If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

Nice shopping..despite some flooding. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy all your pictures Karin???

I would be freaking out walking that close to water. I would be imagining falling into the water!:scared1:

I love the glass, I used to collect blown glass pieces. The plague costume & mask is so cool. I could have lots of fun with that!:stir:

Well, if walking that close to water freaks you out, you'd better not visit Venice then - the city is built on water. :rotfl2:
Murano glass is manufactured at a small island right by Venice, so the whole city was full of it. :goodvibes

Beautiful pictures.

I love Murano...a ndear friend gave me a necklace of a Murano stone and I love it.

Glad you love the photos .... lots more to come. ;) :rotfl2:
They have some beautiful hand crafted Murano glass jewellery there and I could not help myself but buy a few more beads for my bracelet. ;)

I have one of those glass clowns that are on the shelf in your picture. Got it when I lived in Germany.

We used to have one like that too! I think my grandmother bought it on one of her trips. I need to have a look if it is still there. :goodvibes

Venice is awesome! Love the shopping!

It is a very beautiful and old city and believe it or not about a hundred years ago it still belonged to Austria. So technically we would not even have had to leave the country. :lmao:
And to be honest ..... shopping is my middle name. :rotfl2:

Congratulations on the cabana and Palo brunch. I loved Venice. I love Murano glass, I would go crazy in that store.

Thank you for sharing our excitement over the Cabana and Palo! I knew you'd understand. :thumbsup2
I was thinking of you when we were in Venice, asking myself if you would have visited there too. Funnily enough there were a lot of Americans in town. :lmao:

Lovely update! The pictures are so great and the food always looks amazing.

Yay for booking the cabana, Palo brunch, and an early port time. Sounds like everything is coming together for your February vacation!

Thank you! I wish we had had blue skies, so everything would look a little friendlier.
Yes, it looks like our February trip is coming together nicely. So far everything I "wanted" (or had planned on booking) was available. So we are all set to go.
But then we started doing some more serious planning for our summer trip. Can't wait for that one either. ;)

Nice shopping..despite some flooding. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy all your pictures Karin???

We were lucky with the flooding. They had a LOT more flooding the next day.
And I am glad you like the pictures, especially since there are a lot more to come. :rotfl2:

Day 2, October 27

Is there a Disney Store in Venice? - Part 3

Once we had paid we walked on and came across a lot more fun shops. There were even a few grocery stores and coffee shops which offered yummy looking sweets and we said, that we would pick up some on the way back but unfortunately we never made it back to those shops.
We had walked for over an hour already

DSC_0053.jpg

and were doubting we would ever make it to St. Markus Square, when we finally reached the Ponte Rialto,

IMG_6964.jpg

IMG_6965.jpg

one of the most photographed bridges across the Canale Grande. Sure, we had to take some pictures too as we approached the bridge.

DSC_0058.jpg

Then we climbed the steps in the middle of the bridge, taking a peek into the expensive shops on both sides and at the top of the bridge we joined the masses who took pictures of the Canale Grande and Venice from there.

IMG_6967.jpg

Once it had been our turn we walked back to the middle of the bridge and started to walk down. First I noticed more fun footwear,

IMG_6969.jpg

IMG_6970.jpg

but then something else caught my eye. People were carrying Disney Store bags up the steps. :rolleyes1
I stopped Tom right there and then and asked if we still had some internet left over from the account we had bought beforehand and we did. So we stepped to the side and Tom looked if there was a Disney Store in Venice and where it was. The internet was SLOW and I can tell you it gets even slower if you want to know something badly.
We were standing there for about 10 minutes looking where the store was, but with a slow and weak internet connection we gave up after a while. We knew that when we got back to Lignano we had our work cut out for us to find out about the Disney Store and when we would next visit Venice we had to find it.
So we walked down the few more steps of the bridge, had a look at all the masks they were offering there

IMG_6971.jpg

and then finally turned right into the next street and then we saw it. That wonderful sign that spelled Disney!

IMG_6973.jpg

We had found the Disney Store! It had just been around the corner. Needless to say that we headed over and were inside the shop in a flash. There were lots of things to look at

IMG_6974.jpg

DSC_0075.jpg

and we quickly picked up a pyjama for our cousin’s little boy, George, the refillable Christmas countdown calendars for ourselves and some chocolate lollies. When we got to the cash desk they even offered us one of the fun Disney Store shopping bags and when we agreed to that, their next offer was a Christmas ornament. Needless to say we bought that as well. Purchases in hand

IMG_6979.jpg

and on a high we headed towards St. Marcus Square

IMG_6977.jpg

IMG_6978.jpg

and within a few minutes had found it. People where literally everywhere.

Great Venice updates Karin! My folks visited Venice several years ago and there was rain and flooding when they were there too. I guess if you live in a city that is below sea level you can expect flooding! The pull on high shoe cover things looked neat, I've never seen them like that before but they make sense. I wonder if they were cheap/affordable for tourists to buy and then throw away at the end of their stay? It's so funny you bumped into the Disney Store, I guess us fans can find Disney anywhere!

Great Venice update and pictures Karin. What luck to find a Disney store, us Disney fans can't resist shopping in a Disney store. Love the paintings on the wall.

Wow - Venice is so cool! Thank you for all the wonderful pictures. And my opinion is Venice is even cooler now that I know there is a Disney store there. :rotfl2:

All the shops just look amazing (including the disney store ;))

The foot wear is cracking me up! I guess it shouldn't... we are not in our rainy season here...and the boots do come out. Course, not quite sure I have seen any that look quite like the ones you saw. :goodvibes

Wow does Italy look amazing. My DH has been there before and I hope to go there someday. It is a place that is on my bucket list.

Great update Karin. :thumbsup2

We were lucky with the flooding. They had a LOT more flooding the next day.
And I am glad you like the pictures, especially since there are a lot more to come. :rotfl2:

I love them all Karin :thumbsup2 I guess the biggest reason we haven't gotten passports is that there are seven of us :faint:

An international Disney Store...AWESOME!!!!!! I adore the brick walls with the characters painted on :hyper:

I am glad you like the update.
Venice very often "floods", but I have never seen it like THIS before.
I am sure the "fashionable shoes/boots were some cheap tourist thing. They were basically plastic bags with a cheap plastic sole that was attached with string. :rotfl2:
I had never seen anything like this before. And there were A LOT of them all around. :rotfl:
Tom and I were pretty proud we found the Disneystore just by following our nose. :lmao: I am pretty sure you ARE right that a Disney fan finds a Disney Store everywhere. :thumbsup2

I've been to that Disney store! I bought a Pooh bear with a Venice sweater on it. :)

Jill in CO

:thumbsup2 for shopping at the same Disney store! Bummer they didn't have any Venice themed merchandise. :(

Love the Venice update and the beautiful pictures. I just adore the inside of the Disney store...very cute.

Thank you, Kathy. I am happy you enjoy the pictures. That Disney store was really cute, especially the murals on the walls. :thumbsup2

Thank you, Elaine!
We were both so happy to find a Disney Store there. As we told you at WDW, there aren't any close by here and the closest would be the one in Venice now. :rotfl2: And shopping there was so much fun. We just LOVE the welcoming feeling of a Disney Store. :thumbsup2 Nothing like handing over your hard earned cash to everyone's favourite mouse. ;)

Wow - Venice is so cool! Thank you for all the wonderful pictures. And my opinion is Venice is even cooler now that I know there is a Disney store there. :rotfl2:

It was just as wonderful as I remembered it from being a kid. And you are 100% right .... it's even cooler with a Disney Store. :rotfl2:
But honestly, the city is beautiful and you can really feel the history in there. :thumbsup2

Loved all the shops !!! The bakery items looked sooo good as did the glas and stone. Wow for fiding a Disney Store !!!!

It was fun to see it all and I really enjoyed the Murano shops. I guess next time we go we need to take the boat over to Murano and watch them making these beautiful things.
The Disney Store was so cool. We just LOVE Disney stores and we cannot leave without having any shopping done. Hm, maybe it IS good we don't have a Disney Store close by. ;) :lmao:

Many of the shops are very tourist oriented, but we didn't mind. Venice IS a tourist town. Yip, we loved the Disney Store, we were so happy to find it.

The footwear was so funny. The first time I saw it I think my jaw just dropped and my eyes nearly popped out. It looked so funny. :rotfl2:

Great update Karin. :thumbsup2

You really need to visit Italy and Venice if you get the chance to do so. It is even more beautiful in real life. :thumbsup2

I love them all Karin :thumbsup2 I guess the biggest reason we haven't gotten passports is that there are seven of us :faint:

Passports for seven? :scared1:

You are all so lucky to have so many Disney stores all around you. There are not many here in Europe. I know there are two in Paris and a few in London, but NONE in Austria! :scared1:

They had put up raised walkways, so people could get inside buildings without having to get their feet wet as there were little “lakes” everywhere from flood water. The lines into the buildings were really long and we decided against visiting any of them, so we just walked all over the main square

By then it was close to 3pm and we were tired and the clowds had rolled in. I purchased two one way tickets and we got onto on of those boats.

I love Venice, would really like to go there. Does the Disney store there have the same items that stores here have? Are there special Italian themed items?

I think those boots are a smart idea. I take it they are an emergency item sort of like the plastic rain ponchos.

What amazing pictures of Venice! Makes me want to take that europe trip sooner...

Hi Karin! Finally caught up again after a long absence. :(

Even with the rain and end-of-summer atmosphere, your trip to Italy looked great (again ) and so relaxing. Venice looks amazing! The food pics are so wonderful - I can’t wait to get there someday.

Can’t wait for more Italy!
