On our first trip "home" in March at the Boardwalk Villas in a studio, we had a great time, and thouroughly enjoyed the resort. The only problem that we encountered was that the walls seem to be poorly insulated, or very thin. We were awakened every night about 12:30 or 1:00 by the couple in the next room. In addition, there television was extremely loud. We will be going again in August. Would a 1 or 2 bedroom be quieter? Everything else was great, but sleeping was really a challenge.

The problem with a lock off is the door. Often you can see light below. Sound travels readily through it.

A two bedroom is much better, especially a top floor unit.

Or you could do what I do, the Grand Villas are very quiet.

Did you have a dedicated studio or a lockoff? That lockoff door allows sound through easier. I think a 1 bedroom is quieter. I was at OKW last week in a 1 bedroom and closed the bedroom door at night because of noise from the studio next door through the lockoff door. Boardwalk has dedicated studios & 1 bedrooms, we always get a dedicated 1 bedroom so there's no lockoff door. Even with a lockoff 1 bedroom, the lockoff door is farther from the bedroom.

We noticed what you are talking about when we stayed in a studio lockoff at Boardkwalk back in February. I don't think it's as soundproofed as some of the other resorts. We had a one bedroom at VWL and we never heard the people in the lockoff studio next door to us. The only way I even knew they were there was when I saw them on the balcony.

We've stayed at VWL, BCV, OKW, and Boardwalk, and Boardwalk definitely seemed like the walls were paper thin.

We've stayed at BWV and VWL and really haven't noticed the noise. Part of it is, of course, dependent on who your neighbors are. If they're loud, it probably won't much matter if it's a lock off or not. Especially if they're loud out on their balcony.

We stayed at WL once (the resort) and our neighbors for 4 nights were extremely loud. We saw them on the balcony and found that they just talked REALLY LOUDLY even when holding a normal conversation.

Maybe they were all hard of hearing? In any event, they eventually left and the peaceful calm of WL was restored! :)

I also noticed some noise during my recent stay in a BWV 1br. It was very clearly coming through the lockoff door. I have not noticed this to be a problem at OKW. I was glad I was in the bed and not on the pull-out!

At OKW a one bedroom and a two bedroom and the grand-villa , the master bedroom does not share a wall with anyone, best of my knowledge. The last time we were there in a one bedroom we heard noise coming from the studio but that was when we were sitting in the living room. It sounded like some of the young children were objecting to something the parents wanted them to do. I have really never experience noise when in the master bedroom accept the flushing of toilets on occasion.

hi: it really does depend on your neighbors. i've never had a dedicated 1 br at bwv, and we've heard some pretty funny things on occasion. when we have a 2 br , the problem is solved.

Our studio lock offs have been opposite of most of the posters. We usually take 4 trips to DW each year. Usually just my husband and I so we stay in studios. Have had no problems at BWV or BCV in a studio, whether dedicated or lockoff. VWL was not bad. VB and OKW were terrible. Tried OKW three times before I gave up on it. The last time especially, I'm sure the other guests were not being too noisy. It sounded like I could even hear the suitcase being opened. (clicking sound of the lock). Loved the 2 BR at OKW. Can't get over the size of it.

We stayed at OKW in a one bedroom for 2 nights and a studio for 1 night (was "checking" things out) and did not notice any significant room noise issues. Also, not having hallways keeps the noise down as well.

The only noise issues we had were related to the laundry/service/whatever they are previously cited turbine engine sounding vehicles barrelling around the place at about 4:45am or so.

I've stayed in studios at OKW dozens of times and have heard others in the next room courtesy of the lock-off door but nothing that has bothered me, until the last time in March ........

I'd never noticed the doorbell on the outside of the units before - maybe they don't all have them? But, the family next door (and their friends in another unit) certainly noticed them and the kids in their party thought it was great fun to ring them - sometimes after midnight. The sound in our studio was enough to raise the dead! That coupled with their shouting even minor requests to each other - I knew the favourite sodas of them all.

Fortunately one exasperated phone call (not angry) and one visit (pleading) by me to the 'father' put a stop to it but it's certainly shaken my view that my home from home was certain to be a near-peaceful retreat.

I got a tip from these boards that I'm going to try next time I'm in a lock off studio. Take a bath towel, roll it up, and put it on the floor at the door, sort of like the "draft protectors" we used to put at the base of the door up North in the cold. One time, we were at VWl in a lock-off studio during the World Cup; and if you remember, there were games at 1:00 or so in the morning. The people next door were big soccer fans, up at that time, yelling and screaming. Wish we'd known to try the towel thing then!

The towel trick does work to a certain extent - used it one night at OKW to block some noise and for three nights at CR to block hallway light
