For a month( due to addiction to painkillers) should you send a card? Are visitors allowed?

I would send a card. Esp. if the person went on their own free will. It is a very good step that they are taking and knowing they have support and encouragment will hoefully make them want to fix themselves even more.

I'm not sure about visitors.

When my brother was in rehab, we visited, but did not send cards. I think it would be fine if you wanted to though.

I would ...my ex had been in several and we always sent stuff, little cheer up cards, books and crosswords etc. and if you are close to them you might want ask about coming up. because the first week or so is the hardest when your kicken that stuff.

I'm assuming that it is an adult since they checked themselves in. A friend's teenaged son was in a facility a few years ago and no one was allowed to send him anything - I think they were trying to keep bad influences away from him. It was the policy of the facility not the parents.

You could try sending a card but, as arminnie mentioned, they may not be allowed to have it. Generally, visitors are restricted to family and there are very short visiting hours. Part of the reason for restricting visitors is to protect the privacy of other patients. People don't need it broadcast they were "seen" at rehab.
