If Ratatouille opens Memorial Day weekend....(hypothetical question)

IF Ratatouille opens on that weekend, what are the chances that they will have FPs available for it? Would they be posted 60 days out, or historically when new rides open on a holiday weekend the FPs just randomly appear one morning? I know Disney has said "early Summer" but I'm crossing my fingers for the end of May.

At this point, its anyones guess as to when it will open.
They haven't released any information whether it will have FPs or if it will go to Boarding Groups like MFSR and RoTR did at opening.
If I had to guess, I would go with BG until they see that the ride is running consistantly.

It seems unlikely that it will start with Fastpasses available from day 1 since their last couple new rides didn’t. We are going to be there June 2 and I’m really hoping it’s open by then even if we have spend some time in line.

I think it could easily do the Boarding Groups, since it will be the only ride of its sort that would have it in EPCOT.

With that being said, I think a Memorial Day opening is highly unlikely. They are saying Summer 2020 and they really do not consider that Summer at all. Earliest I would think would be the week before 4th of July.

My guess is whatever they do for MMRR they will do for Rat.

Also my guess is that on March 3rd for the MMRR media event we will get a opening date for Rat.

Trying to predict opening dates is a fools errand, even when Disney gives dates.

MMRR was announced as "2019" then Summer 2019 then Fall 2019 then 2020 then Spring 2020 then March 4th 2020, which is technically Winter.
SWGE was announced as 2019 and then Fall 2019 and then Late Fall 2019 and then it opened August 2019 and then ROTR opened in December 2019.

So I'm guessing Ratatouille will open when it's done. I agree with @HuskieJohn that there's a good chance they announce the date when they open MMRR.

As to boarding groups, I think that it will not open with them unless the attraction's reliability is a problem. I am of the opinion that 1 of two things will happen when MMRR opens:
1) it will use FP, in which case I think it's pretty clear Ratatouille will too
2) it will use BGs (probably called something different, like train car numbers), and they will prove so comically unnecessary that Disney will scrap using them for future openings.

Disney's history is that when they start FPs for a ride, they just appear one morning with no prior announcement.

That would be horrible if they also used boarding groups for Ratatouille in Epcot. That would mean two parks that you have to rope drop if you want to go on the attraction. If this is the case, we'll have to skip Ratatouille, which us disappointing.

I would consider anything before July 4th to be extremely lucky for any of us involved. I am hoping it is open. because I will be there the week before the 4th, personally. I am just tempering my expectations to be pleasantly surprised if it opens earlier...

I think it is definitely a very divided concept. Overall, I am a fan of the Boarding groups, but I can understand those who are not.

I really do not think Disney wants to go the way standby only, especially with the limited amount of space in the France Pavilion. If you do FP+, people will be upset as well. It will be interesting to see what they came up with...

I wouldn’t be surprised either, but there just isn’t a lot of room (seemingly) back there in the France pavilion to accommodate the line a couple of hour wait would produce...

That entire building isn't purely ride and they have an outdoor queue space as well. Disney built a sizable queue for the attraction.

Well, I sure hope they don’t do BGs for it. If they do, hopefully they won’t for ROTR by then. I’m probably going at the end of August but it’s on the same trip that I’m going to DLP so I’ll get to go on Ratatouille there.

I agree, but they do have a sizable queue for Smuggler's Run as well, and yet we get ridiculous lines that congest the land. Just think it looks sort of crazy when that happens. Hopefully they will let us know the date and plans soon.

(But here we are a month before the opening of Runaway Railway and no real word either...HAHA)
