If Not By Sea then By Run-June '14 Cruise/Oct '14 ToT 10 Miler/Feb '15 PHM PTR

I definitely think that what corral you start in had a lot to do with it. I started with only 1000 people ahead of my corral... another 500 in. (finished 1438) I think this played into why I did not see long lines and even saw no one in some. I remember turning onto oceola after leaving WWOS. The characters were just watching everyone as we passed. I thought of stopping... and I looked around at everyone around me and we all had the same look of... "no, just keep going" At that point, there were not huge packs of us on the road. However on the other side, about to hit the woods... it was like a scene from the walking dead. The mass crowd of people there. I am sure that with the added bodies on the other side of the road... they probably saw a lot more in the way of lines.

That is going to be us most likely then. I'll be in the back corral most likely. We'll end up skipping most of the characters b/c of the lines.

Nothing wrong with being in the back corrals...I find that I have a connection with those around me and they are all so encouraging of each other both in the corrals and during the run. I like surrounding myself with these kind of people... I am sure you can get in a few character photos if you want too! Just watch the line as you are approaching and know where you are at in the run and time...I really could have stopped but I was so worried about my leg that as long as I was pushing forward that was all that mattered.

Oh I'm going to have to read that TR! :worship: I'm excited about running through three parks and the Osborne Lights. I did the first TOT and that had to be the hottest, most humid night race ever! My tech clothes were soaked in sweat before mile 3!

PHM is going to be amazing! We're going to have a blast and you most definitely need to join us for a crazy cupcake crawl. The way I see it that makes one more stomache to help eat all the cupcakes!

This is my fear..the humid/hotness. I am a very poor 'hot' runner. I am hoping it being night will help some so at least the sun isn't on me. Ah well, It'll be something to get through... and I will... another medal to add to the collection!

The Osborne Lights were amazing - it was towards the end of the race, I was tired, hurting & just focused on getting it done..and then they appeared... and it just stopped me in my tracks and made me realize that I made it this far...here was this beautiful sight... I could keep going!

Last, First, Middle.. It doesn't matter!! You are there and you are doing it! That's all that matters! My cousin walked the Wine & Dine. She made friends with the balloon ladies- literally. They would warn her 'run just a little to get ahead of us' and so she would... and meander back some more and chat with them. It's HER memory of the Wine & Dine and she's fond of it! Those balloon ladies could be considered a 'character' in their own right- everyone's looking for them!!! (mostly to run from them!!! Hahahaha!).

I agree- everyone is encouraging with those around them. In the back corrals- you have lots of people proud to be there! There is support & commadarie... and that's part of what makes these Dis races so awesome. I don't find that in many of the other 'non-Disney' races where people might be more focuses on time/goals. (which is fine too- just a different kind of race than the ones I run). Towards the end I didn't want to stop for pics soley based on the fact I was scared I wouldn't physically not be able to start again! I am doing a different approach for both ToT and PHM. I WANT to stop and take it all in with the characters. Timing is completely irrelevant to me.

This is why F&W is my next Disney Race...2016! I love the course map...and Osborne Light...:woohoo:

You are so right...to me a time and a place does not matter...finishing and having fun with my friends is what matters. There are so many races out there that I would never enter because the focus is time and place...and that is just not me...remember I stalk the year before's final results before I pick a race.

I think it is cool that she got to know the balloon ladies...personally that would FREAK ME OUT!

You are right that focusing on time and place is good too...just not the runner I am either. AND HECK THIS IS DISNEY...isn't this place all about the magic and the fun. Now that I know I can go the distance (barred no injuries) I can relax and have fun in the race! This time I am going to stop and enjoy the characters...really I just want pictures of me running on mainstreet (already tearing up about this idea) and in front of the castle! And I would love to have pictures of me surrounded by my fellow cupcakes with smiles on our faces! :goodvibes

I heard a lot about how humid it was at the PHM this year, but I barely noticed it. I don't know if I blocked it out in my memory or what, but for the life of me, I only remember thinking once, very early on, that the heat/humidity was brutal, after that, I was too focused on "one mile more, one mile more, one mile more...". That was around mile 2, and I dumped water on myself the very next waterstation I saw, and chugged water at every stop, filled my handheld at every 2-3 stops, so I musta been hydrating correctly or something, idk. It was cloudy and overcast the whole race, and I was SO geeked for that, because I knew direct sun was what would kill me. Really looking forward to ToT 2015. Yay, night race!

I loved the night race of W&D for this reason! Although it was hot/humid too- I dumped water all over me all the time as well. I got sick but I don't think it was weather related - rather- hydration/block problems.

I am hoping really hard for some 'decent' weather at ToT or it could be my undoing!! But I won't focus on that!! I'll wrap myself up in costume choices instead!!

We're lucky for the humidity part as with living as close as we do we have a similar climate so we get used to it.

We won't be running outside though until after season is over (too many people that shouldn't be driving on the road)

It will still be sticky hot at 10:00PM.

Just as I can run through -20 degrees and 10 feet of snow! :rotfl2:

I need to push myself out this year in summer heat to try to get used to conditions. We do have humid summers- so it will be good training ground.

I would kill my ankle if I had to run through -20 degrees thanks to the ice. I would be sticking to a treadmill with that. Then again, I'm using a treadmill now just b/c of the idiots on the road.

In all honestly, I don't really run in that outside either. I stick to the dreadmill!!! :)

But I do like cooler weather. 30 degrees and up is fine by me!

So I don't really have any updates for any of my trips from this weekend.

I was GOING to run outside today as it got up to the balmy 40 degree mark, but I left my dang shoes at work! (where I usually run at lunchtime in the fitness room). So there went that- I work an hour from home- so I wasn't driving in just to get my shoes.

I have a 5K on Saturday so I expect I'll see myself running Monday-Friday this week to get myself to the point of being able to do it! (how far I've fallen in the last 3 months!)

No Cruise news. My biggest PHM news is ordering my first Sparkle Skirt (thanks be to Karen) that will come this week.

So anyways...

As promised.. the review of the Grey Stuff. I asked the dishes & they told me it was delicious. We made it & I agree. The Grey Stuff works for me!!!

It was good and everyone liked it!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

And a little of what I did get accomplished this weekend which is NOTHING related to the trips- but I'll share anyways...

A few weekends ago we surprised the girls with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. These three pages are from that weekend... (I also did a double layout of the waterpark but I will not be sharing because the world wide web does not need to see me in a swimsuit... you are welcome!).

The MagiQuest located there- my girls LOVED it!!

And our favorite BBQ joint- Famous Dave's (where we ate dinner that night)

Yhea, good thing the hubby isn't on these boards- he'd never forgive me for posting that layout with his pig hat on!

And now, Sunday night.. back to work tomorrow. Boo Hiss....

But with plans to get some decent miles in FINALLY. My goal... 15 in the next 7 days!

Jeez o' peets- I noticed on here I spelled freaking Wisconsin wrong. Only I could do that on a layout! Argh!!!

Oooh, it looks like such a fun weekend! :thumbsup2

I have a 5K this weekend too, REY is going to run/walk it! My son has been sick and doesn't want to run, so Rey is going in his place. He has never run before. He walked 4 miles easily with me the other day and did 1/1 intervals on the treadmill today, so we'll just go and have fun! :thumbsup2

You are going to love the skirt! (I hope you love it b/c if not I'm going to have to eat my words, huh?)

I'm doing the race with my friend who is also not a huge runner- so we will take it easy...

It's downtown & it includes Green Beer...so you know...there is incentive at the end. (even though I'm really not much of a beer drinker!). Should be fun and HOPEFULLY will not include snow & arctic temps- but you never know!

Do you have a green outfit? I don't.. thinking I should do SOMETHING?!? Maybe I'll check the party store to see if they have any headbands or anything...

Do you KNOW me at all?!?!? :rotfl2:

Uh yes, I have a green outfit(tshirt from walmart, they have tons of them), with green socks and a green boa (which I may get Rey to wear) and yeah...a green tutu-type skirt. ::yes::

Go get something green! ;)

and I don't usually celebrate St. Pats and I barely have any Irish in me. :rotfl2:

I think we are getting beer too...not sure...why don't they give out cupcakes??? Or margaritas? :p

:lmao::lmao:

I should have known. Well- I will come up with something. I got 5 days!

WHAT KIT DID YOU USE FOR YOUR GREAT WOLF LODGE PICTURES? (I see a Harry Potter kit with the wand quest). Your pages are beautiful! What you have proof you were on the trip in a swim suit?! I have a bunch of those pages to do from last winter! We love GWL!

YAY the grey stuff is delicious! Now put it on a chocolate cupcake a pretend you are at BOG.

I used several kits together...

"Canada" from Brittish Designs for the Totem Pole
"Happy Campers" from SweetShoppe Design Store for Alpha
"Into the Woods" Kristen C-Barrow- Sweetshoppe Designs
"The Great Outdoors" - W2 Squared- Scrap Orchard

I think that might be it.

We had SO much fun- first time there & we can't wait to go back....

Love, Love, Love your pages, as usual. I spent all day Saturday at another crop event. Year 2002 is now done!

Thanks Ann! :thumbsup2

Only 12 more years to get current. Hahahahaha! Good job getting 2002 done!

I try to stay current with our family yearbooks but I"m hopelessly behind on vacations....

:worship: I am so in awe of you using multiple kits! I am going to have to get a few of those you mentioned. I always have a lot of "forest/wilderness" type pictures from our cabin. I love your clustering, another thing I really need to work on!

We loved Great Wolf, too. The kids are constantly asking when we can go back. The closest one to us in the Dallas area. But rumor has it that there is one going to be built near Colorado Springs...which is perfect for when we visit family.

Good luck on your runs this week and your race. Ugh, I twisted my ankle good yesterday...so much for a spring break full of running and walking....
