If i could change one thing

If I could make one realistic change to the DDP it would be that instead of one dessert with your counter service meal and one dessert with your table service meal, that a dessert was not included with your counter service meal, but instead you were given two snack credits instead of one. Sometimes I prefer a savory snack and with two desserts a day I never end up trying the other delicious sweet snacks they have in the parks. Plus it is a lot of food to have to eat at once and I don't like carrying desserts around in the heat.

That would be wonderful.

I don't like the desserts at most CS. I would also love to be able to get a snack that was a beverage and something else (this would work especially well for breakfast)

I don't like the counter service desserts either. It is usually the same generic chocolate cake or carrot cake. I would much rather have the extra snack credit to get a cream cheese filled pretzel or a funnel cake :)

Love that idea! Also, I would like to see them allow you to choose between a selection of appetizers OR a dessert at a TS meal.

I like this post :) :) I always hear the same thing on the boards 'nobody requires you to take the dining plan', 'if the dining plan doesn't work for your family don't buy it'...blah blah blah.

What's so wrong with discussing what we'd like the DDP to look like

Here is what I would like. 1 snack, 2 QS meals and 1 TS per day. The price would be somewhere btwn the standard plan and the deluxe plan.

YES, YES, please chime in with how I could purchase the deluxe plan and do this and how DW doesn't have to cater to my needs. Go ahead, I can take it :)

I would love the choice between appetizer or dessert also. That way husband and I could split one appetizer and one dessert. Disney probably saves money by doing just the desert because sometimes desserts seem to be a little bit cheaper than the appetizers. I also bet a lot of people end up passing on dessert because they are too full from the entrée.

you are correct in your thinking. Another issue is 1 person ordering the appy, and another ordering dessert- it means the tables turn over less frequently. They want to get you in and out so they can seat the table again.

I also would like to get rid of the CS dessert in tabor of an extra snack credit, but I don't see that happening.

Very true about them saving money. Plus, their CS & TS desserts are usually pre-made, so it takes less time. They used to include an app and the tip in the DDP, but discontinued that years ago. :headache: I wish more CS would offer fruit bowls for dessert. When possible, I try to get fresh fruit for my CS dessert. Fruit isn't as icky as regular CS desserts, and I feel like I've eaten at least one healthy thing that day.

Whether such a plan would have value, depends on the pricing.

But in general, a plan that wouldn't actively encourage bad eating habits:

Ditch the refillable mugs for children. A 5 year old shouldn't be having unlimited soda refills.

1 QS and 1 TS. No problem with that. QS should include entree and beverage.
TS includes entree, AND appetizer or dessert. At the very least, salad or dessert.
And as suggested, 2 snack credits -- which can be used for a dessert with your QS meal.

Fair pricing for such a plan, per adult, would be about $50 per night.

If we're just dreaming and wishing and we're not going to get in trouble with anyone for expressing our thoughts...then.. I wish the plans were more customizable.

Currently we have an 11 day trip planned during F&W. We mainly want to do character and signature meals at 2 meals spread out over the day such as late breakfast/early lunch and late dinner and at least one day at F&W. On the DDP, 11 TS, 11 CS (have no interest in these) and 11 snacks, aren't enough for what we want to do. But the DxDDP 33 TS and 22 snacks are way too much. I wish there was an amount assigned to each snack credit, cs credit, ts credit and you could choose the total amount for each trip. In our case we would want 22 ts credits and 22 snacks per person and 0 cs.

I know, I know, "ain't never gonna happen Princess"

But a girl can dream....

Imagine how nice if you could just buy ts credits, qs credits and snack credits a la carte..as few or as many as you liked to be used on whoever in your party.

agreed. although that is more a parental decision than a disney decision. Just b/c you CAN refill the mug does not mean you have to. My step son would love to down coke all day, but he isn't allowed to. He tried the "But it's free refills" argument before. We told him he is welcome to all the free refills of water he likes!:lmao:

Why not buy a Disney gift card for the amount you would spend on the dining plan and buy what you want, where you want? When I don't get free dining, that's what we do. I don't have to worry about where I want to stop and I can get an appetizer, dessert or both. DDP is more of a convenience for me than anything so a gift card does the trick. Unless DDP is free of course. BTW, I ran out of snack credits during F&W....to many samples to try!

You actually sound like the perfect DxDP candidate. Even on the DxDP, signatures, dinner shows, and CRT are all 2 TS credits. That's how most people maximize the plan. You get 3 credits per night not 3 meals per night on the DxDP.
