If i could change one thing

This is exactly what I was going to say! DH is an app guy, I'm a dessert girl. It would be nice for us to have the choice of which one we want.

I also do like the 2 snacks instead of dessert at cs meals.

Why not buy a Disney gift card for the amount you would spend on the dining plan and buy what you want, where you want? When I don't get free dining, that's what we do. I don't have to worry about where I want to stop and I can get an appetizer, dessert or both. DDP is more of a convenience for me than anything so a gift card does the trick. Unless DDP is free of course. BTW, I ran out of snack credits during F&W....to many samples to try!

I actually tossed that idea around when first reading here just prior to us getting our DVC. But decided against it. We like to eat very well, coupled with my need (not DH's, sigh) to get the best deal possible and we decided to go with either the DxDDP or the TiW card. I'm still working out the numbers for both of those. Here's an example though.

I'm using Cafeen's wonderful spreadsheet that you can find on another thread (sorry, don't know how to post threads yet). We have 11 days with 3 adults/1 Child/1 Free Child on the DxDDP which gives us a total of 132 TS and 88 Snacks for $3083.85 (are there taxes? I think that's the $3801.09 number which I will use). Currently we have 15 ADRs at 94 credits with another 38 credits remaining (PLUS one completely OOP Victoria & Alberts QVRoom). I went through each and every menu and picked out what I believe each family member would choose and threw in a 2 drink estimate for DH for dinners. If out of pocket it would be $4159.11. So without even using those last 38 credits we're already ahead/saving $358.02 ($4159.11 -$3801.09= $358.02). Which says to me that the DxDDP is the better deal hands down.

HOWEVER, I just wish we could have a choice of less credits, even if we come out ahead, psychologically, it feels disgusting to have left over/credit/food. Makes me want to order take out on all the remaining credits and take it down to a local homeless shelter and give it to them.

ETA: not too worried about all the snack credits as we plan on using a large portion at F&W and any left overs will go to gifts (lollipops) for DDs Kindergarten class :-)

DH and I were just talking about this last night! We would love to have a choice between and appetizer or dessert for TS. We will be using the DDP in November and will prob end up paying OOP for a few appetizers. Sometimes those are the best part of the meal!

Here is what my family would love to see...

Two TS credits that we can use for TS or CS, and a choice between appetizer or dessert. Of course we would be willing to pay extra for it, and I know its easier for WDW to just have the few choices but I def think they should add a few more options, because for families it really isnt one size fits all.

OP - Its a great suggestion, and one I thought of too. Another advantage of separating the dessert from the QS meal would be that breakfast would no longer be such a poor use of a CS credit - as you'd have your main plate and be able to have an additional snack either at the same time or later, rather than losing out on the dessert element.

Please listen Disney :rotfl2:

Seriously though, I think the days of 2 desserts a day are limited, its just becoming out of step with most people's eating habits - especially as you say when there are lots of wonderful tempting sweet snacks around as well. Probably not in time for my once-in-a-lifetime trip in 2013 though :sad2:

Perhaps they could make the CS credit to be one entree and one side. Some CS locations already have savoury items available for a snack credit, so making them a part of the CS meal isn't a big step. Even if everywhere offered a side salad as an alternative to dessert, that would be a positive step for me. (I believe EoS already allows you to choose any side dish up to a certain value?)
