Also, an add-on would have the same UY as your existing contract, even if its a different resort.

ETA: The only way to get a new UY would be to purchase a whole new contract of 160 pts (or whatever the minimum buy in is at the time).

When you purchase directly from Disney they start you off with a full set of current Use Year points. As of today (June 25, 2010), Feb, Mar, Apr and Jun UYs are in their 2010 UY. If you bought a contract with one of those UYs today, your first set of points will be your 2010 UY points because that is the current UY for those UY months. The Aug, Sep, Oct and Dec UYs are still in their 2009 UY so if you buy a contract with one of those UYs today, you would start off with a full set of 2009 UY points, subject to availability. If you wait until just a few days before the end of your UY to purchase, they may be out of current UY points for the resort you want to purchase.
