id's for toddlers?

Can I use my girls social security cards as id's for checking in at the airport? I really don't want to bring their original birth certificates. Thanks!

Children under 18 require no ID when flying.

Some airlines require birth certificates (I think a xerox is OK) as proof of age for lap babies or for parents buying infant fares.

I assume your toddlers are older BUT I'm posting for other people.

However, most kids over the age of 15 have at least a learner's permit.

Both of my boys were asked to show ID's on their last trip. I suppose they could have said they were under 18, but went ahead and showed ID.

I can just see my 6'4" 17yo son (at the time) with a full mustache and hair on his chin trying to convince someone he was only 17.

It is just easier for the older kids to go ahead and show their permit/license.

We took xerox copies of both our boys' birth certificates even though they each had their own seat on the plane. No one ever asked for them, but it would be our luck if we didn't have them, it would be required.

Sorry, very wrong. In most states you can't get a permit until 16, he5re in NJ it's 17. My son is almost 19 and doesn't drive, although after they refused to let him into an R rated movie when he was a few months shy of 18, we took him to DMV and got him a state ID card. When we fly we use our passports. They are uniform and save the TSA people from having to hunt and peck for info.

My sons have had state DL ID sence they were 3months old. We live 45 min from the Canadain border and go lots.(they have an indoor swimming pool, ect. I grew up going to the ski hill ect) they cost us $7 to get and know they are $14 but it is way nicer to have them when we cross, and they ask for ID. But I was wondering do I still have to take thier Birthcer. when we go on the Magic for christmas even thoe we had to have them and thier SScard to get the ID. (probly becouse the IDs don't prove they were born in the USA. only a birth cert. can do that)

I just traveled with 9 and 11 year olds with no ID for them.

The only exception would be traveling with a lap child. Lap children are under 2. Therefore they might want a birth certificate to prove they are under 2, therefore not having to purchase a seat for them.
