Idea for a unique tattoo

I don't like names personally, too many people I know regret getting names done. I want my girls' initials, I'm trying to design an anklet with their initials instead of flowers.....I'm having a hard time designing it. I also want a Celtic knot, I thought the Celtic knot on my right wrist and Mom's handwriting on my left might be cool but I'm not sure about the wrist deal yet. I love tattoos, but I also like being able to hide them at times. lol Not that I really care if people judge me......huh or maybe subconciously I still do.....

I have been thinking about one for a long time now, but not sure I am brave enough. I want an ankle bracelet tattooed around my ankle and then thought I could add "charms" of anything I want. One for each kid, etc... What you are describing above could basically be done the same way. Have the initials be a "charm" on the anklet, even the Celtic knot could be one. I figure the charms could be added whenever I wanted something new, or maybe when I start getting grandkids and each one being different could add to the charm of the "charms".

Trust me, it's noticed.

If you're going to get a tattoo, make it someplace that's covered by your everyday clothing. Don't be the schmuck who has to wear a long sleeve button down to work even in the hottest part of the summer... because businesses DO force you to cover it.

Also, with many people, tattoos just immediately make them think "SKANK" or "THUG" regardless of how enlightened you may think people are.

Just a warning.

How very kind of you to warn me. ;)

I have antidotal evidence to the contrary, as people are often shocked to learn it's there and that they hadn't seen it before (often for months or even years). I'm right handed, so it's not like there are a lot of instances where I'm flashing my inner left wrist around. Besides, as I said, it is easily able to be covered.

So the top of the foot is painful?

I imagine it's one of the worst...

And I think that one should get the permission of the ones who "own" the names.

My father got my name tattooed on his arm, along with his other kids and his wife, and I HATE that my name is on him. I'm not "his" (I mean, biologically yes, but I'm not a possession), he didn't name me, he's hardly been in my life, what gave him the right to do that? Hate it!

I actually have a tattoo (though it was done in haste and is pretty doofy (the friend that I got it with, whose idea it was, had hers covered up last year)) and want to add on to it with long-thought-out things, but names are right out. Couldn't even do the idea in the OP, because my mom absolutely despised tattoos, and I don't want to deal with her wrath from the great beyond...
