ICloud Questions

So someone, please, explain to me how I use the cloud for my pictures on my phone in a nutshell...My iphone keeps shooting me messages about being close to capacity since I did the last update and I really, really, don't want to have to spring for a new phone right now so I figured this might be a start.

My husband, myself and one of my kids all share an apple account, so I don't want to use the cloud for everything, but figured pictures would be an easy start.

I would love to know too! My photos allegedly are in the cloud and I bought extra capacity but I can't figure out how to retrieve!

"How do I turn on My Photo Stream?

After you update your devices and set up your iCloud account, you can easily turn on My Photo Stream on any of your devices:

iOS devices: Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos, then turn on My Photo Stream."

So is what I've read correct that if I put my pictures in photo stream they only stay there for 30 days before they are deleted? 'Cuz if so that doesn't really seem to solve my problem.

Put them in your stream, get actual prints of them, and make photo albums!

After our computer crashed and I lost all the photos that were not on Shutterfly or Photobucket, I decided to get actual prints and photo albums. I have 10+ photo albums and it is amazing to look through all of them and relive the memories!




Or attempt to put them in your stream and upload to Shutterfly or Photobucket.

We have a separate external hard drive that we keep photos on. We keep it in a fire proof safe too. I don't know how it would hold up in an actual fire, but it takes care of our storage capacity. I think it was around $70.
