My mom LOVES the ice wine and pays her $4 for one ounce of it each year at the Food and Wine Festival. I thought about buying her a bottle for Christmas, I'm sure I can find it cheaper places than the festival... but I don't know what brand and such it is. I've never made it during the F&WF so I haven't a clue!

Anyone know?

I think there were several, but one I remember was Inniskillin Ice Wine. It was going for $6 per ounce! I think I read on Deb Will's review that they also served it at a "Sweet Sundays" event.

Good luck finding it! I wanted to try it, but decided to get 2 or 3 other things instead. Maybe next time...

The ice wine( I think you get it in Canada? ) is numero ono on my list next week. :Pinkbounc

Yes, the brand there is Inniskillin ($50 half-size bottle). I found Inniskillin Vidal (I'm not sure how its different) for $39 half-bottle at my local (larger) liquor store. I bought some and it tastes exactly the same to me. She would definitely like it!

I have so wanted to try ice wine. I've seen specials on the making of it on food tv. When I've looked it is very expensive. I would love to try it by the the glass to see if I can justify the expense of a bottle of it.

I bought the Inniskillin one at a local wine store. It was $5 for a VERY small bottle. I noticed they were selling regular size bottles at the airport for $50 Canadian (I guess that would be $35 American???)

I've seen it on the shelves of our Cost Plus World Market stores, it is in the same area as other "specialty" wines like port, champagne and such. I've found (and was told by many wine lovers) their prices are better than any others.

I've tried a couple of different ones, and I'm particularly fond of the Inniskillin, although the Pillitteri is very nice as well.

You might also want to look into a Late Harvest wine, almost as sweet as an ice wine but not quite. I prefer the Late Harvest Vidal to the Late Harvest Reisling.
