Ice storm in Nh

I'm up in Northern NJ and we got hit with the storm as well, we lost power Thursday night at 9:15 and just got it back on today at noon but many people in my lake community and the one next to us are still without power. When you drive down the into town theres nothing there but we are at a higher elevation and caught the tip of the storm as it passed over NY state. We rented a generator and had extension cords running through the house to plug in a couple of heaters and the fridge the warmest we could get was 56degrees but I was thankful for woodburning stove and the generator or we would've had to leave. People were buying generators like crazy and we've been here 20 years and have never seen it this bad. When we went out Saturday we saw transformers laying in the road and power lines down and trees laying everywhere from the weight of the ice. We have a friend who lives a couple blocks away and can't even get to his house yet because the street has'nt been cleared. My ds has a friend who had a tree fall down and pulled the power and phone lines off there house and land on their car and they were told they may not have power till the end of this week. I feel for you people who still don't have power I sure does stink!! Good Luck, Linda :)

Another NH person checking in here. We lost power sometime between midnight and 2:45 am on Friday morning. We decided on Saturday morning to head to my Mother's in southern MA. Our house was down to 52 degrees when we left yesterday. DH has been away in Maine for work but will be home tomorrow and try to get a generator hooked up to the furnace. I hope he can do it without burning down the house or electrocuting anyone! We have had the generator for 10 years, but he never got it set up to use like it should be. Basically it has just collected dust in the shed for 10 years. Hope it still starts!

They finally cancelled school for tomorrow at about 5pm today. Not sure what they were waiting for! Anyone else here in the Weare/New Boston/Goffstown/Dunbarton area?.......................P

Upstate NY here outside of Albany.
Have just gotten our power, cable, and RR back YEAH!!:cool1: at least on my side of the street. Unfortunately the people living across the street from me do not.

We lost all early Friday am and got them back around 6:30pm tonight.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who are still without.

Good Luck and know we were thinking of you
Cathy

My brother took some heavy roof and siding damage to his house. Adjuster was out today. $20,000 in damage. He still has no power. My sister is in the same situation with no power. Her house is down to 39 degrees but she will not leave her two dogs alone. Their problem like others is they are either a side street or in the outskirts of the city. Main roads are getting the attention first. I have houses mere feet from me a block away that are completely in the dark and repair work to lines has not started yet.

I'm glad to see those in other areas are getting their power back and I pray for those that haven't.

no power since Friday! We are in Methuen Ma. im only online because i cam to work this morning! it has been 40 degrees in our house all weekend. helped the economy by shopping alot, my excuse is that the mall was warm!
still no power this morning. we are a small group in our neighborhood without power. the least the neighbors could do is not turn on their christmas lights and maybe offer us some hot tea!

good luck all out there still without power.

to think i was in disney last weekend and now shivering in Ma boooo!

Hi everyone, still no power for us today. Still staying at a relatives in MA. I would love to be home to enjoy our Chrismas tree. The kids still don't have school today. To think we just got back from WDW a few weeks ago, we would have been better off planning this week to go!

Most of our town is back...I think it is mostly individual houses that had their service lines ripped down that are still in the dark.

Unfortunately, we learned that a house fire in town Sunday night was a schoolmate and teammate of DD#1, and DD#2 used to play with their young daughter at the soccer games and practices. They weren't home at the time, but lost everything...
