Ibuprofen for Foot Relief?

At the dosage most are taking over the counter, NSAIDs really are just pain relievers. It requires a higher consistent dosage for the anti-inflammatory effect to kick in.

During the worst of my PF, my podiatrist recommended 3 tablets of ibuprofen every 6 hours. And yes, it has to be taken consistently to work well, not just after the pain starts.

800 mg twice a day for me helps,I have arthritis that affects my feet and hips, it helps a lot.I also take along a prednisone dose pack just in case things get real bad.

Our trip is next week. I was just watching a vlog and the girl mentioned her #1 tip is to get ibuprofen for your feet.

Any thoughts on this? My feet are always killing me by the end of the trip (7 days).

I looked at some other articles on the boards, but people are just talking about switching shoes or type of shoes or type of socks or whatever.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts specifically with ibuprofen?
It's an anti-inflammatory, so it can help. I have a heel problem and my podiatrist gave me prescription-strength ibuprofin to reduce the inflammation and therefore aid the healing process.

Yep.

Taking one dose when your feet hurt is too little, too late.

If you want coverage, start taking it before your feet hurt and keep a steady dose in your system.

Always always be very cautious when taking any medications...

While any drug is dangerous in the right environment, just make sure you are cognizant about your hydration status and how you are feeling. If you take other medicines don't be afraid to speak to your doctor about it. As a few have already stated they take it for Arthritis, you have to make sure that it isn't interacting with any of your prescription medications such as methotrexate. These interactions can greatly affect how it is processed within the body and as such have unintended negative consequences, specifically affecting the kidneys and their ability to cycle the medicines. This is further exacerbated by your hydration status and the weather.

Just be informed and never afraid to ask your doctor for advice on what to do, while they may advise against any medication, they would rather give you advice knowing you are going to do it anyway! lol

I stretch, hydrate, and keep a steady dose of ibuprofen in my system. We just got home from a trip to Washington DC with my Girl Scout troop and I gave all of the girls Tylenol/Ibuprofen while we were out during the day (we averaged 10.5 miles each day for 5 days). It seemed to do the trick, so we will do the same at WDW!
