I promised my 3 sons that we would spend xmas 2008 at Fort Wilderness. Little did I know, every single site is already reserved 12+ months in advance. Nothing is available in this class. If you have a full hook-up site from 12/22/08 with check-out on 1/1/09, would you consider giving up your reservation, transfering to me? I will pay you for your site. Please reply on the board with your contact info! I don't know how I can tell my 4 and 6 year old that we can't go! Please help.

It is far too early in the year to give up now !! Keep trying.

Dont give up so easily...people reserve way in advance in anticipation that everything will go perfect....and the closer you get to the date you want the more reservations get cancelled when people realize that they just wont be able to go with their original plans.....call the reservation office every morning at 7 their time....dont worry about being pesty to them, they are quite used to it.

Sites are not transferable. The person that makes the ressie has to be the check in person. They do this for the exact reason you're asking about. Someone could book multiple sites and then make money on them. Uncle Mickey don't play that. I suggest you try and get 1 or 2 days of your trip and build it from there.

Stacktester, yes understand. I tried to get at least one day...nothing! I guess that since sites are not transferable, I must now rely on luck that a site opens up. Another problem is that I can't wait too long into the year, since I need to book vacation time with work. Thanks for the info!

Just being honest with you on the sites. When we 1st started going to the fort I saw someone had a ressie for sale on Ebay. About 3 people put on "ask seller a ?" that you can't do that and he ended the auction. He was trying to get double the price btw. Just keep tryin. 700 some odd sites and not all the people are gonna use em. I've booked before thinking we'll use those days and had to cancel.

Not only should you keep calling, but you should also try to book ressies on-line. You can even do the ressies one day at a time and have Disney group them once you get them all. Don't give up, I doubt that they have opened all of the sites this early in the year anyway.

I agree with the keep calling and checking online. We wanted Thanksgiving of this past year, and started calling in October... Only because we purchased our trailer then, and had never camped before, or knew we were going to buy one before that! Anyway, we spent Thanksgiving week at FW, but it took 3 reservations, and 1 day we added while we were there! We are going this Christmas 12/21-12/30. If we have to cancel, I'll post. Hopefully it will help someone like you, but we have our hearts set on it too!

This far in advance I believe you will get lucky and be able to get the dates you need. I'd say go ahead and make your vacation plans for work. Keep trying to get into FW, but as a back up plan make reservations at an off site campground. Tropical Palms on 192 seems to get good reviews.

The PP's advice to try booking online as well as on the phone is good. Example, last December while we were still at the Fort, we booked 4 trips using their house phones. Couldn't get the Feb 1-5 dates we wanted.

Came home, TheBigGuy called trying to et the Feb dates, they said "nope, nothing open" - but while he was on the phone, I jumped online and looked, and BOOKED what we needed.

Call them, look online, and don't be afraid to book a LOT more than you need, and canx the unneeded days later.

Like the others wrote, don't give up. I started trying to make Dec. reservations in August before they began taking Dec resssies, missed the first week they were open and was told they were all booked. In December I was able to book 2 full hook up sites for 12/20 - 12/27. Where there wasn't one day for 1 site all of a sudden became 7 days for 2 sites. In eary Jan, I was able to extend one site to 12/30 and just yesterday, got the 2nd site to 12/29. My goal is to get both sites to 1/2....apparently one day at a time.
