I want this flight attendant for my next flight.

He's great! :thumbsup2

Give me him over one of the boring prehistoric FA's just killing time until retirement, I might even have a chance of getting a smile at me instead of a grimace...

25 one ways wouldn't even get your silver elite on a major carrier, so you are probably best by sticking to SWA where you at least get something. Most legacy carriers start status at 30 segments/25,000 miles which get you similar access to your A-list. As you go up the food chain and attain 50K/75K/100K/125K the list of bennies become much richer. If you are only interested in a cattle call seat with 29 inch pitch then go for it. I prefer a reserved seat with 36" pitch and many times a complimentary upgrade to first for me and my companion due to my 100K flying.

There are airlines for the Wal-Mart crowd and there are airlines for those who prefer a higher level of service without constant need to worry about boarding immediatly without worrying about seat poachers who board first or who fake a disability in order to snag a premium seat.

Once again, if SWA meets your needs then by all means go for it, I for one do not enjoy hanging in the boarding area guarding my spot so I can board and pick a tolerable seat, have no access to a club lounge or elite line agents to assist me in irregular ops.

Probably the number one reason I loathe SWA is there inability to sign my ticket over to another carrier in irregular ops. If you buy on SWA you are stuck. Also don't forget that SWA has no interational operations, so cashing in for trips to Asia or Europe aren't even a possibility.

So, why ya here? popcorn:: Just feel like hanging out with us peons? :confused3

In case you haven't noticed, disney bulletin boards aren't just for the SWA flyers. Disney also realizes that better bennies are available for those who aspire to more. Those who stay at the GF get better bennies than those who stay at Pop. Just because I prefer not to stay Pop and fly SWA doesn't mean I can't enjoy the WDW experience.

The nerve of southwest to allow there flight attendants to act like this when no other airline is allowing this. From this point on i am refusing to fly southwest until they start charging change fees and baggage fees like everyone else. Who's with me?

LOL, good one.

Trust me, I try avoid SWA like the plague. I fly them as the airline of last resort. Yep, I even gritted my teeth and flew them from MSY-MCO simply because it was the only non-stop option and when flying with the family the point was to get A to B and not have to change planes with someone in a wheelchair.

I do find it funny that the DIS is calling SWA innovative and that is why they fly them. The DIS flies SWA only when it is the cheapest option, not because they have fun flight attendants. SWA is the Wal-Mart of the skies and if that is all you want then you are getting what you pay for and if that meets your needs then great.

For the business professional, we are looking for an airline that recognizes our patronage and gives us miles that are actually useful and gives us perks such as priority boarding, first class seating or at least economy plus seating. After earning hard earned miles they can be used for luxury travel such as first class awards to destinations far and wide.

I called them innovative, not the DIS. I fly them because I like their rates, their baggage policies, their on time record and their humor among other things.

You with think with all those wonderful perqs you are earning that you could find a flight to accomodate your family from point A to B and since you are in the "I will kiss your butt" class, I feel confident that the wheelchair would have been handled without much ado.

Having flown most of the "majors", I can tell you I am not impressed. If I want a library atmosphere, cowded conditions, schedule changes, cancelled flights and FAs with an attitude similar to yours, I will change, but for now, I am flying the "walmart of the skies".
Note, I live in Orlando, so, my flights are away from MCO, so, not all of us here on the DIS fly SWA because it is a cheap way to get to WDW. Your backhanded insults to the neat folks here is insulting, to say the least.

That still does not answer the question, it only shows that you have a totally elitist attitude and have no problem insulting others.

Not all of us need a reserved seat with a 36" pitch. Some of us are just fine (and comfortable) in normal sized seats

Not sure where your pompous and snobbish 'Wal-Mart crowd' comment comes from, but if you really think that it's better to pay more to fly on airlines that don't have a clue how to make a profit in spite of charging for every little thing, airlines that never seem to get to their destination on time and airlines that have lesser safety records then perhaps your definition of 'higher level of service' just means you think you're getting more because you're paying more.

I've flown many airlines and have never felt that I had to 'guard my spot'. Have you ever even flown SWA?

You loathe SWA for this reason? How often do you think the average person needs to sign a ticket over to another carrier? I can't sign my Disney Park Hopper over to Universal Orlando. Can't sign over my Disney Cruise ticket to Carnival. Can't sign over the Orlando Magic ticket I bought to go to a Miami Heat game. Why would you expect to sign over your airplane ticket?

The seat pitch for SWA is 32-33", obviously Princess(and the pea) does not know this.

Personally I am done with this. The OP posted something of interest to most of us, I am sure not to start an "I am better than you" debate.
I simply have to remember NOT to start a battle of wits with the totally unarmed and to remember that arguing with a fool is stupid, they bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
Most of us here are certainly better than that. :)

You must not have flown them in a pretty long time then. Probably 3-4 years ago they changed their boarding procedures. In the order that people check in online, they are assigned a number in addition to a letter A, B or C, such as A20, B35, etc. When it's time for A BPs to line up, my place in line is determined by my number so there's no point in hanging around. It's very simple, quick & orderly.
People hover near the end of the line so much at a USAirways gate that it's hard to tell if they're really in line or not. It takes so incredibly long for everyone to board & with so many people trying to carry on luggage to avoid the fees, the overhead bins are always overcrowded. I have to try to sleep just to avoid witnessing the whole thing. By the time we finally push back, a SW flight would have been halfway to our destination. This all applies to 1st class passengers as well so it's not like they're exempt.
I mainly choose USAirways because they're a participating airline with DCL's Onboard Check In which provides us an ultra-convenient disembarkation after a cruise. Similar to RAC but they take your bags from your room the night before. :cloud9:

Even if it is 32 the 36 inches for Economy Plus makes a huge difference. Those 4 inches mean the differrence between being able to comfortably open my laptop and get work done. If the pitch is 32 and the person in front of me decides to recline I can practically play the bongos on their head since it is practically in my face.

Yes, but you have to still hang in the boarding area and wait for boarding. If you happen to step away for just a moment and you miss your spot you are then in a for a free for all. What happens if I am trying to wrap up a business call when the cattle call starts? I can't say to my client "sorry gotta run so I can lay claim to an aisle seat" With assigned seating I can be the last person on the plane and still get my pre-selected assigned exit row aisle or better yet my first class seat.

As stated if the cattle call and no frills works for you then go for it, there are millions who disagree. Heck, my company even agrees and even if SWA is cheaper we don't have to take them per company policy.

So, what happens if you're on your 'all-so-important call' 10 minutes later when they're actually boarding your flight? You'd have to say 'gotta run' at that point, wouldn't you? What difference does it make. If there's a problem here, it's poor time management skills on your part that require you to be on the phone when you should be boarding an aircraft.

You do realize that you're posting on a forum that pretty much devotes itself to people taking vacations, don't you? For every one person you find here that agree's with you, you'll probably find 1000 who don't. Your "Heck, my company even agrees and we don't have to take them so there!" comment makes you sound like a spoiled child.

I primarily fly SW and JB. Why?? They offer direct, non-stop flights to the places I want to go, at a fare I can easily afford...I'm paying for it, not my company. I hate flying the legacy lines. Why??? Constantly changing my flight times. Drives me nuts. But, when you open the booking window that early, you have to expect changes.
I have no issue with the cattle call boarding process. I'm not on an all important business call. Even my dh stops his business crap about 15 mins prior to boarding...and that doesn't matter what airline he is flying with. I like not having to pay for my bags. I don't need a 'particular' seat. If, and when, I do, then I'll book with a different airline

Seriously??? This self-important stuff is really unecessary. I'm pretty sure that on any given flight, the business traveler is in the minority. Do you have more rights than the others on your flight? Nope. You get what you are paying for...those 'perks', those free drinks, special lounges, larger seats. But, it doesn't mean you get to pretend you are flying in your own private plane.
Every single time a discussion like this comes up, there are some who come here and tell us of their importance, of their 'elite' status, and that they deserve peace, quiet and no interruptions in their flights. Sorry, the vast majority of us are not paying those business fares. And the majority of those flying who are paying the business fares are being reimbursed for them, by their companies. I would be happy paying for those higher, fully refundable fares, with free drinks, and great perks if someone was going to reimburse me for them. But, it's coming out of our family budget..so we go with the best fares we can find. Seeing how some post here, it would seem that if I have paid $200 for my r/t flight from Boston to Orlando, I should pretty much be flying steerage, with no free snacks, or perhaps even a seat. That stuff should be left for the 'important' passengers...those paying a ton of money for their fares.

You don't like an airlines way of doing business? Don't fly with them. I hate Delta....I hate that they constantly change my flights, and my seats. I refuse to fly with them. I have options, so I choose another airline. This is America...we can all choose whatever airline we want.

Makes you lucky I guess. And it also proves my point that you are not paying for your tickets. My dh's company continued to put him on Frontier flights, even though I could find him much cheaper alternatives...Delta, perish the thought. But, when I totaled up the cost of Frontier, the rental car he would need to drive the 2 hrs to the city he needed to be in, then compared Delta, and the no rental car...it was a lot cheaper. But, his company continued to use Frontier, for whatever reason.
So, you're lucky. You don't have to take SW. Good for you. Leaves more room for me. That cattle call??? Hardly. Very organized and I have usually had my flights with SW leave the gate early due to this boarding proceedure.

I am a Graphic Designer - and we work by the FISH philosophy - which at its core is having fun at work. So yes, random song and dances, campy things, and overall - CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE!

I, for one, love love love when the flight crew adds a little entertainment - be it via songs, jokes, trivia, and the sightseeing tour that the pilot puts on.

If this is the biggest concern in your life - lady you got it good..

Okay everyone...I think we have all made our points. No further need to beat a dead horse here. Let's move along now.

Like the "Princess" (prncess674), I also travel for work. Not that much, about 8-12 trips per month. That includes direct as well as connecting flights. Does that make me an expert? Not in any way. I just have to travel as part of my job. He, She or It, would like the no nonsense flight. An airline that provides some sort of benefit for the business traveler. If the "Princess" did a little research on SWA, you would have read exactly what SWA provides the "Business/Frequent" traveler.

I'm not in business for myself. Perhaps you are, and money is no problem. I am employed by a corporation. My company does not put restrictions on us when it comes to our travel arrangements. However, I always treat my expenses as if I were spending my own money. I always look for the best deal to get me from point A to point B, and in the time frame, for which I need. That means I travel via SWA and JB whenever possible.

I also like to take vacations. And both SWA and JB allow me to earn travel rewards very quickly. Which in turn, allows me to invite family and friends to join us on vacations.

In so far as either one being a low cost airline....Oh my gosh.....What will people think... who know me? Ohhhh.... they don't care or judge me for the person I am, based on the airline I use for work. Thank God for that.

One last thing of the "Safety Instructions". You make it sound like you travel often. I going to give you the benefit of doubt. And say that you may have listen to the instructions, too many times to recall. But just incase you have forgotten, or were unable to hear or comprehend what was being said. Being a frequent flyer, you know that the instructions are on a "Placecard" in the pouch in front of you. That is for those who would like to re-read the instructions.

Since you are a frequent flyer. I would like to believe that with your experience. You would be one of the first people to assist the FA, in making sure all those with less experience got off safely. That is, even if they did something that may have placed a smile on someone's face, prior to departure.

I sincerely hope that something happens today, that allows you to smile or even chuckle.

That's My2cnts :thumbsup2

So the FA and pilot using the PA system as their personal podium/stage while passengers in the flying tin can are held hostage is your form of entertainment then more power to you. How would you like it if I decided to put a wannabe stand up comedian in your car for your daily commute to the office, would you still be enamored? Remember he will be doing the same campy act DAY AFTER DAY!
:confused3 I don't se how that's comparable. The chances of the same traveler encountering the same FA doing the identical two minute rap presentation on multiple flights is negligible - especially when compared to your scenario.

I can only imagine if I stood in front of my clients and decided to "rap" my tax consulting advice. Of course I have given the advice many times, but that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve respect and professionalism.

To the OP, do you ever get bored in your chosen career and then proceed to rap out your job just to change it up?
If you've made the same presentation to the same clients multiple times - perhaps it's time for a different...something? Presentation? Format? Consultant?

It's really great that in addition to getting paid for your actual work, you also get to benefit from getting to and from work.

We noticed. I think the question is, why are you HERE. On the Transportation board, in a thread you're now well aware is about [an employee of] an airline you loathe, reacting in an inappropriately condescending manner toward persons you obviously detest, if for no other reason than they appreciate the out-of-the-ordinary?
