I want this flight attendant for my next flight.

Nope..not moving that!!! It makes me way too happy. So, no one else on any other board gets it...it stays right here.

I knew there were lots of reasons I love flying SW...that boy is terrific.

OP here.

Oh good. I picked the transportation board because I know people come here when they are looking for travel information.

prncess674, I'm sorry this bothers you. I personally like when FA's do this. To me, not enough people pay attention to the flight safety information. As other posters have stated, it wasn't even the safety information the FA was mentioning, it was the pre-board information. As the FA himself said, if he had to say it the normal way one more time, he himself was going to fall asleep. By saying it this way, he got the passengers involved and relayed his message; to where as often times, most people would have just ignored him.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and it has been noted here. As for the rest of us, we enjoy when FA's make flights more enjoyable. The flights don't seem nearly as long and pleasant FA's guarantee that most passengers will gladly fly that particular airline again. Well at least I would. As DW mentioned, we may not fly weekly or monthly (and not only to WDW as you put it), but we do fly a great amount per year. And we like when FA's and pilots go out of their way to make our flight more enjoyable.

So the FA and pilot using the PA system as their personal podium/stage while passengers in the flying tin can are held hostage is your form of entertainment then more power to you. How would you like it if I decided to put a wannabe stand up comedian in your car for your daily commute to the office, would you still be enamored? Remember he will be doing the same campy act DAY AFTER DAY!

As stated previously, this distraction is minor to the casual flyer, but to the air warrior this is annoying. Distribute the information in a professional and efficient manner, but keep your American Idol audition to the appropriate audience. To the FA who said he would fall asleep if he had to do it again probably needs a new job. I can only imagine if I stood in front of my clients and decided to "rap" my tax consulting advice. Of course I have given the advice many times, but that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve respect and professionalism.

To the OP, do you ever get bored in your chosen career and then proceed to rap out your job just to change it up?

Again, thank you for sharing our opinion with us. We understand how you feel. Again, sorry this annoys you. As for the rest of us, we enjoy it and will continue to do so.

Totally agree that you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you need to be aware that the DIS is a teeny tiny portion of the flying public and does not constitute the majority of flyers. If this style of comedy was a true winner in the marketplace then all the airlines would be doing it. Of all the carriers (worldwide) one carrier which makes up probably 5% (probably less) of the total flights in the air daily decides that this is acceptable that doesn't mean that the majority think it is funny.

Respect and professionalism are never inappropriate. If the FA simply did their job then the skies would be much friendlier without the need of campy skits and rap acts.

Please name another profession outside of the entertainment industry that regularly breaks out in song and dance.

I fly all the time and welcome this type of break in routine.

Lighten up Francis.

I reiterate my point, DIS is a teeny tiny portion of the flying public. StanH = teeny tiny portion of the flying public. I respect that you have a differing opinion than mine, but as I have previously stated, if this comedy routine was widely accepted then the majority of the airlines would have adopted such practices.

Most of us here on the Dis know that even if we vacation 5x/year, we still are not frequent fliers. We also know that SWA doesn't exactly cater to business travelers either. We also know that people who do fly a lot prefer other forums such as flyertalk, etc. But you're here, telling a bunch of vacation travelers how wrong it all is. :confused3
Perhaps you should boycott SWA.

I also know other cruise lines don't have giant singing mice, ducks, dogs & chipmunks running around their ships so does that make DCL wrong for offering it to their customers? Do you think passengers on the other cruise lines whine about it when their ship is docked next to a DCL ship? I wonder....(no pun intended). The horns on the Disney ships play the tune of "When You Wish Upon a Star". Not exactly what US Coast Guard or Navy ships have but so what? We like it. :thumbsup2

Sometimes as a Nurse I break out in song and dance. Of course, I work in a Pediatrician's office. ;)

Trying not to beat a dead horse with a stick here. This video is a longer version of what I've been showing. It's the same video at the beginning. Goes on to show him doing a rap at the SWA share holders meeting and being interviewed by CNN. Just goes to show that the executive offices and share holders of SWA really appreciate what he's doing. Hope they gave the boy a raise.

Good Lord lighten up...are you this bunged up in other things in your life also. I fly very frequently (not a once a year to WDW person) for work. I use SW as much as possible and if I don't want to listen to the pilot or anyone else I put my headphones on.

I must also add that of all the times I've flow SW for business or vacations I've never seen any business flyers reat like you have here. Many sit back and read, work, sleep or enjoy the SW FA'a and pilots.

The other solution for you would be to fly another airline:confused3

Mayor, I was suggesting a private jet for her. I can only imagine what cranky children do to interrupt her "I have to have a pleasant flight".

Well Princess, I am truly sorry that you cannot recognize a company that is innovative. Who made you the "mouthpiece" for the majority? And, since you are so elite, why are you even here? It is apparent that we "little" people enjoy humor and fun on our "only fly to WDW" flights. I would probably enjoy stand up comedy in my car daily. I don't take life seriously, we only go around once and I plan to have a great time doing it. If the actions of the FAs on SWA bother you, don't fly them. Go with the ones you consider "professional". With all the crap going on in the world, I would think you could find something better to complain about.
Try to have a good day and smile.

The nerve of southwest to allow there flight attendants to act like this when no other airline is allowing this. From this point on i am refusing to fly southwest until they start charging change fees and baggage fees like everyone else. Who's with me?

I have heard the spiels a thousand times and it never gets old to me... I esp love the smoking section is on the wing...

I love seeing the smiles on fellow passengers faces... hearing the chuckles from a few rows back... That never gets old.

:thumbsup2

Trust me, I try avoid SWA like the plague. I fly them as the airline of last resort. Yep, I even gritted my teeth and flew them from MSY-MCO simply because it was the only non-stop option and when flying with the family the point was to get A to B and not have to change planes with someone in a wheelchair.

I do find it funny that the DIS is calling SWA innovative and that is why they fly them. The DIS flies SWA only when it is the cheapest option, not because they have fun flight attendants. SWA is the Wal-Mart of the skies and if that is all you want then you are getting what you pay for and if that meets your needs then great.

For the business professional, we are looking for an airline that recognizes our patronage and gives us miles that are actually useful and gives us perks such as priority boarding, first class seating or at least economy plus seating. After earning hard earned miles they can be used for luxury travel such as first class awards to destinations far and wide.

I'm A-list on SW because I've flown over 25 one-ways in the last year. As an A-lister I get free early bird check-in which places me right after those in business select (business select gets priority boarding of A1-15, a free alcoholic beverage and extra Rapid Reward points). I also get priority baggage check-in, a priority security line in certain airports and extra points per flight. And yes, I do have the choice to fly other airlines and do on occasion if a SW flight won't work. As soon as I'm on those other planes though, I'm suddenly missing SW's friendly FA's. I swear that it seems like the FA's on other airlines just look miserable.

25 one ways wouldn't even get your silver elite on a major carrier, so you are probably best by sticking to SWA where you at least get something. Most legacy carriers start status at 30 segments/25,000 miles which get you similar access to your A-list. As you go up the food chain and attain 50K/75K/100K/125K the list of bennies become much richer. If you are only interested in a cattle call seat with 29 inch pitch then go for it. I prefer a reserved seat with 36" pitch and many times a complimentary upgrade to first for me and my companion due to my 100K flying.

There are airlines for the Wal-Mart crowd and there are airlines for those who prefer a higher level of service without constant need to worry about boarding immediatly without worrying about seat poachers who board first or who fake a disability in order to snag a premium seat.

Once again, if SWA meets your needs then by all means go for it, I for one do not enjoy hanging in the boarding area guarding my spot so I can board and pick a tolerable seat, have no access to a club lounge or elite line agents to assist me in irregular ops.

Probably the number one reason I loathe SWA is there inability to sign my ticket over to another carrier in irregular ops. If you buy on SWA you are stuck. Also don't forget that SWA has no interational operations, so cashing in for trips to Asia or Europe aren't even a possibility.

I don't choose SWA just when it's cheapest. Their no change fees policy is great when there's a possibility that our plans could change & I like that flexibility. I booked USAirways for our Easter cruise simply because their dates were already released, though not great prices but reasonable. It was a weekend & convenient. I didn't want to stress about being at work when SWA releases Easter week & the prices would probably double by the time I got home.
Yes, they're "professional" but sometimes their faces are so long you'd think you were at a funeral. I wouldn't call earning miles "hard earned". jmho.
