"I Wanna See My Castle!" October 2013 TR *COMPLETE* **NEW TR LINK!!** 7/3

OK, so when you had mentioned a "3D Dessert Party", you really meant a 3D DESSERT PARTY! Honestly I thought it was just something you added. I had no idea it was really a thing. But oh I so want to do something in the Events Pavilion to just, you know, SEE the Events Pavilion.

I have heard of those glasses. Apparently (if they're the same thing) you can use them during the fireworks to see little Mickey heads. I want these glasses.
(edit: yes you covered this later)

Haha, nice priority... Desserts before seats!

Now THAT is a party!

See, when you don't plan it and just spontaneously run into people, isn't that so much better?? How cool!

OK, so now you've covered watching the fireworks with the glasses. (Yeah, I jot down thoughts as I read which sometimes makes me look stupid).

GAHHHHH those fireworks shots. It really shows how much "pyro" is happening. Beautiful!!!!

Awwww looks like Pax had a good night.

I am drooling. SO MANY DESSERTS!!! The hot donuts with ice cream sound absolutely heavenly.

To be honest, Illuminations is my least favorite of the nighttime entertainment at Disney, but those are some amazing pictures! I bet it was so cool to watch with the 3D glasses.

That dessert party looked like so much fun and super yummy! Those donuts...I never would have thought!

Well, first of all I am glad to see that Paxton had a fun evening while you enjoyed date night.

Secondly, those dessert all looks amazing! And I totally cracked up over the Fresh Prince clip. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I loved that show! So glad you both enjoyed the party.

Lastly, I just want to steal those firework pictures. They are so perfect. I took terrible firework pictures in October. I'm not even sure if I can post them. :rotfl2: Yup - they are that bad.

All in all I would have to say that date night was a total success!

What a great Epcot night! All those desserts sounds delicious. A watermelon cucpcake?! Ice cream shaped like a hot dog...:goodvibes It all sounds like it would be a fun thing to experience. Except, I'm like you and am not a big drinker, so I don't think I'd get my money's worth out of it.

Fantastic IllumiNation photos. They make me wish I could be there to see them later tonight. :rotfl: And I had no idea they could make the show 3D! (I'm not surprised, everything can be that way now, but still...) A pretty interesting addition to the show.

It was pretty cool to be inside the Events Pavilion, although before this event I didn't know there was such a thing. :rotfl:

We thought maybe they just named it 3D because it was Disney's Dessert Discovery (which I guess is part of it too) but we didn't know there would be 3D glasses involved as well!

Haha, nice priority... Desserts before seats!

Now THAT is a party!

Priorities, Rob, priorities! :thumbsup2

See, when you don't plan it and just spontaneously run into people, isn't that so much better?? How cool!

GAHHHHH those fireworks shots. It really shows how much "pyro" is happening. Beautiful!!!!

Awwww looks like Pax had a good night.

It was pretty cool that we had 2 random meet ups with MEK. She's such a great person!! It was nice to see her again unexpectedly.

:lmao: I did kind of think to myself, "Uhhhh..." when I read your first comment about the glasses since I was pretty sure I had included that info in the post. :rotfl:

The combination of pyro and fireworks is what I really enjoy about IllumiNations! I thought DH did a good job capturing that.

Give that kid a playground and he is good to go. :thumbsup2

Oh man, that donut was absolutely fantastic! The desserts were really amazing. I only kind of wish there had been more variety. But it was still all very delicious and a lot of fun!

I agree, IllumiNations is last on my list. But DH did an awesome job on the pictures! It was waaaay cooler to watch with the 3D glasses. I meant to remember to bring them to watch Wishes later in the week, but I forgot! DS still likes to put them on sometimes and see the Mickey heads when he looks at the lights.

That dessert party looked like so much fun and super yummy! Those donuts...I never would have thought!

It was definitely a great experience! We were both very happy we had chosen to pay a little extra for the event.

Well, first of all I am glad to see that Paxton had a fun evening while you enjoyed date night.

All in all I would have to say that date night was a total success!

I can watch re-runs of Fresh Prince all day long, but that is definitely one of my top favorite episodes! Glad you enjoyed the clip. :goodvibes The desserts were just as amazing as they looked!!

Oh goodness, I'm sure they aren't that bad! Although maybe if you had beer (wine?) goggles on while taking them...

Definitely a success!

Yeah, we probably didn't get our money's worth entirely, but we were happy with our decision. I don't think it's something we'd make a tradition, but I would definitely do it again on a future trip. The desserts were absolutely fantastic!

It was really cool watching the fireworks with the Mickey heads! I saw quite a few people trying to take pictures by holding the glasses over the camera lens, but I don't think that would actually work. :rotfl: It would be pretty cool if it did though to show the effect!

That party sounds awesome! Goodness. Watching IllumiNations that way must have been incredible! Glad y'all had such a fun evening!

Wow the 3D Dessert Party looks AMAZING! So many yummy snacks, and the 3D part sounds really cool. You definitely have me putting it on my Disney bucket list!

The Fresh Prince scene!!! :rotfl: love it

Great Illuminations pics by DH :thumbsup2

Instead, we headed for the DESSERTS! First up was the cake table, which had lots of different cupcakes and brownies on it and loaded up a plate.
I like your priorities. :thumbsup2

A little fruit, but let's be real, we are here for the sweets!!
Fruit? Yeah, that's what they want you to fill up on. It's like the salad at an all you can eat buffet.

Down at the bottom of the picture is an ice cream hot dog! The dog was made of mixed berry ice cream, and the bun was vanilla cake with whipped cream on the bottom. Then I added some raspberry "ketchup" but they also had mango "yellow mustard" and green cherry "relish" that you could add as well!
That needs to go on the menu at Caseys.

Oh my goodness, SO DELICIOUS!!! A hot donut served with ice cream. What could be better than that??
:scratchin: :confused3

IllumiNations is not my favorite when it comes to fireworks shows
Totally agree. I mean, I enjoy it, but it is probably the last evening Disney show that I really care to see.

I put them on just as they were about to start, and it was AMAZING! You could hear everyone in our section ooh and ahh-ing and lots of "WOW!" It was so incredible seeing each firework burst into hundreds of little Mickey heads!
Ok... I want a pair of those glasses! :cool2:

But DH did an amazing job photographing IllumiNations, if I do say so myself.
::yes:: Great fireworks pictures. :thumbsup2

It looks like it was a great evening. I'm glad that you were able to enjoy an adults only evening at EPCOT. :thumbsup2

WOW! All of those desserts look more than delicious! And so does the fruit!
Such a cute dessert party, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
And those 3D glasses--OH MY GOODNESS THE LIGHTS TURNED INTO LITTLE MICKEY HEADS?!?! That's perfection. How does that even happen?

I'm pretty speechless at your DH's IllumiNations photos. Seriously, they're SO breath taking and professional! I don't even understand how he got such beautiful shots, and without any smoke from the fireworks, too!

Hahaha the guy with the Buzz Lightyear hand is great!

Paxton looks like he had a fun time with everybody else! Sometimes I wish I was still young enough for it to be acceptable to play on the playgrounds.

I'm caught up again!

I had no idea there was a petting zoo at Rafiki's planet watch. DS LOVES animals so I think we need to put that on the list for next trip. Although like you, him touching dirty animals does not appeal to me, LOL.

We went to characterpalooza last May and loved it (I think I got the idea from your TR actually!) we had a lot of the same characters there but some different ones too.

Wow, holy desserts batman! That party looks fantastic! I thought the 3D was something with the title, I cannot believe it was actually 3D! The desserts looked amazing, the ice cream hot dog was cute! Sounds like the perfect date night at Epcot. It looks like DS had a good time with the family as well.

For those who have not seen the 3D glasses before I wanted to post an example of what it's like looking through the glasses. I took a quick picture on my iphone through the glasses of the light s on the alarm clock. You can see how it turns each light into tiny Mickey heads. Now try to imagine this on a much larger scale with hundreds of tiny Mickey heads in the air for each firework explosion. They were also cool just looking at all the lights around world showcase while waiting for Illuminations to start. It's just amazing to see all the Mickey heads shooting in all directions from the fireworks. I know I was standing there with my mouth hanging open in awe. It was distracting me from concentrating on taking photos. :lmao:

The picture does not do what you really see through the glasses justice.

I also just wanted to say thank you to those that commented on my Illuminations shots. I was very very happy with how these came out and they certainly are some of my best shots.

All caught up, and about time too! sorry it took me so long! I should have keot a comment window open but i forgot so ill just comment on what i remember!
You look like you had so much fun at Universal! Im so glad you liked the WWOHP!!! Great to hear that theres a stationary seat on the Minion ride, i wish we had known that, my mum could have gone on that. I had the cold butterbeer which was also nice, i want to try the frozen butterbeer one day as well. Im glad Paxton had a great birthday, his haircut is adorable, im glad they could give you another certificate, that's disney magic for you!!! I love the tangled bathrooms as well, they are so beautiful. I just love all of new fantasyland. I love the Peter and Wendy meet and greet, it's a real shame, Peter wasn't there, but Wendy is still great!! Your second day looks fun! I wanted to go to character palooza, mainly to have a chance of meeting pinnochio, who's one of my favourites, but we didn't really know where it was and we didn't have time. Next time though! It looks great. The dessert thing looks amazing! The desserts look delicious.
I can't wait to read more!!:goodvibes

Wow! The 3D Dessert Party looks and sounds so much fun! With that much food and the "savory" options I think one could make a whole meal out of that experience.

I think I'll agree that paying extra for reserved seating doesn't seem to get you much. It's not like you'll be watching the fireworks from your table like the Wishes Dessert Party - oh wait, nobody watches from their tables even at the Wishes one. ;)

I'm very curious now to find out what Illuminations look like with those glasses on. So it looks like you got to keep the glasses - wonder what Wishes looks like through those glasses?

That party sounds awesome! Goodness. Watching IllumiNations that way must have been incredible! Glad y'all had such a fun evening!

It was really really great!! We had been planning a very low key evening otherwise until that party came up because we didn't think we'd want to fight the crowds around World Showcase on a Friday night. This was a great way to still get to have fun and see IllumiNations!

It was awesome!! A great F&W event, for sure. I would have loved to go to one of the chef demonstrations too, but we weren't able to make that happen. Luckily, this worked well with our plans.

:lmao: One of my favorites!!

Thanks! He was pretty proud of those.

I like your priorities. :thumbsup2

I mean, do we really NEED to sit while eating said desserts? I think not!

Fruit? Yeah, that's what they want you to fill up on. It's like the salad at an all you can eat buffet.

:rotfl: I know at some point we did get some, but it definitely wasn't photo worthy!!

That needs to go on the menu at Caseys.

It was so good, and would definitely fit on the menu there, although I'm sure that would be quite fun to maintain in summer. That would be one messy hot dog!

::yes:: My thoughts exactly.

Totally agree. I mean, I enjoy it, but it is probably the last evening Disney show that I really care to see.

Fantasmic is my least favorite, but IllumiNations is one we haven't really made time for since we started taking Paxton. It's just okay to me. I'd rather see Wishes twice instead. :thumbsup2

Ok... I want a pair of those glasses! :cool2:

::yes:: Great fireworks pictures. :thumbsup2

It looks like it was a great evening. I'm glad that you were able to enjoy an adults only evening at EPCOT. :thumbsup2

The glasses definitely took IllumiNations up a notch!

It was an awesome night. We had lost hope of spending the evening in a park since DHS and AK closed early, and MK had a party that night. This could not have worked out better for us to still get to spend time in a park without fighting the insane crowds around WS.

Paxton looks like he had a fun time with everybody else! Sometimes I wish I was still young enough for it to be acceptable to play on the playgrounds.

No idea how they made the Mickey thing work, all I do know is that it was AWESOME! Paxton still likes using them at home. :thumbsup2

Thanks! He was very proud of those photos, and I think he did a great job! He has been practicing his photography skills, especially the nighttime and fireworks shots.

In Disney, I'm sure it is!!! :lmao:

Happy to see you again, Melissa!!

I can assure, there is a large area for hand washing as you exit the petting zoo! :rotfl: That was the only way I convinced myself it was okay to try it this time. Must be a nurse thing.

Just read about your Characterpalooza experience, and it was pretty similar. I think they have a few core characters and maybe they add a few other random ones each day? It's definitely hard for us to not try to make it to DHS every afternoon of our trip for it just to see who is out.

It was really a perfect date night, and so right up our alley. I mean, it's endless DESSERTS!! :goodvibes

No worries, Rachel! :cutie:

Definitely do Characterpalooza your next trip if you are looking forward to meeting Pinocchio! We have seen him out there every time so I think he is pretty regular for that event. Kennythepirate.com is my go-to source for all things characterpalooza. He regularly updates with the times and locations as they change throughout the year!

Wow! The 3D Dessert Party looks and sounds so much fun! With that much food and the "savory" options I think one could make a whole meal out of that experience.

Hence why I was not so eager to eat when we had been at DHS earlier...I was saving room for the important stuff! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Good point about the Wishes party. Paying extra got you a guaranteed seat at the event, you were let in first, and I believe there was one extra station just for Sweet Seats guests, but it wasn't anything we were interested in anyway. We had just as good of a time getting there early, and got to try everything we wanted. Didn't get to sit down, but that was not at all a problem for us. And were we more extroverted, I'm sure we could have asked to share a table with someone not using all of their chairs and it would have been fine.

I meant to bring the glasses for Wishes and I totally forgot!! We still have them, so I may try to remember to bring them for our May trip to try them out.

Day 5: Saturday October 26th

After our fun date night at Epcot, we were all up bright and early the next morning and leaving Bonnet Creek by 8:05 am to get to Hollywood Studios.

05 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Lines were already forming at the turnstiles when we got there, so we found what looked to be the shortest one and joined. Not too long after getting in line, we noticed they were bringing some characters out to greet guests! We spotted Stitch and Donald & Daisy in their Hollywood finest. Having just met Stitch the day before at Characterpalooza and knowing we would be having breakfast with him later in the week, we decided to skip him and go just to Daisy & Donald. DH stayed in line with the stroller while I took DS over to meet the dapper ducks.

They signed DS's autograph book, but unfortunately when it came time to smile for the camera, the sun was brutally beating down right on them. DS said cheese and tried to smile, but the poor kid could barely get his eyes open!

05-002 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We were back in line with DH in plenty of time for the turnstiles to open at 8:45 am. I know I mentioned it last TR, but it bears repeating that this new way of opening the parks 15 minutes or so early at all of the parks except for Magic Kingdom is fantastic! It funnels people to where there is not a big dangerous crowd behind a rope just ready to run at the end of the street!

The sky was looking especially beautiful that morning, and the sun was gorgeous when it wasn't pelting you right in the face, so I was happy DH took the time to snap some photos as we walked into the park.

Yes, I admit it, I LIKE THE HAT!

Of course, there's only one reason we like to get to DHS so early, and that is to ride Toy Story Mania! Naturally, we headed there first along with pretty much everyone else entering the park who wasn't going to sign up for Jedi Training Academy.

Dang, I would sure turn in Mr. Potato Head/One Eyed Bart for that kind of money. Imagine all the possible Disney trips $50 bzilion can buy you!

05-012 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

05-010-1 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We walked right on and decided for the first time to give DS his own gun instead of putting him on one of our laps or squeezing him in between us. He rode with me this time while DH rode on the other side of our car.

05-013 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
TSM selfies!

05-014 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Well, DS didn't quite understand what to do, but he had fun anyway. And I sacrificed my own scoring potential to help him rack up a few hundred more points than he would have gotten on his own. But he definitely still had a blast on the ride!

05-016 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

05-016-2 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
And for good measure...DH's score

When we came out, we debated going around again but the line had already built up quite a bit by then. DS and I went to get in line to meet Buzz & Woody while DH went to get us some FP's for later. Unfortunately, when he met back up with us he came empty handed because the FP time was already for late afternoon when we would no longer be in the park.

The wait for Buzz & Woody was not long at all, but that didn't stop DS from wanting to stop for all of the photo ops throughout the queue.

Day 5 Continued: Saturday October 26th

Soon enough, we were heading into Andy's room to meet Buzz & Woody! They each got big hugs from DS first.

Look at that grin! Doesn't get any better than that!

After hugs, Buzz signed the book, then showed Woody that they each had their own place to sign with their picture and the toys high-fived over that! Then Woody took DS's book over to the battery so he could sign. While he was doing that, Buzz took DS by the hand and led him over to...pet Hamm??

05-023 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Then he took him over to Rex so they could practice their roars!

05-028 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Once we left Andy's room, we decided we were on a character mission! We headed back to the Streets of America area and straight to Phineas & Ferb's meet and greet area right when it opened. We were the very first ones in line for the morning!

05-029 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

05-030 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

That's all we have because PhotoPass lost the rest of the pictures from the meet. I guess they had an equipment malfunction or something because I don't know that it can be any easier to find photos than ones that came with the description "first ones of the day to meet them" on the lost photo form!

The CM working the area took a huge interest in DS's autograph book! She asked to see it, and called the boys over to look too. She flipped through the whole thing, cover to cover, exclaiming over the characters we had already gotten autographs from and telling us where to find the characters that were still blank. She was so awesome!

05-031 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Well, you all know what the Phineas & Ferb meet is right next to, don't you? Lightning McQueen & Mater of course! DS was asking to see them again and he had a Lightning McQueen shirt on and there was no line, so we figured why not? Good thing, because I got one of my absolute favorite photos of the whole trip this time!

05-033 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

What makes this photo even more perfect for me was that DS had JUST mastered the art of the thumbs up prior to this trip! If someone gave him a thumbs up, he would always hold up his pointer finger in response. Lol If he really really thought about it, he could get the thumbs up, but his automatic response was the pointer finger. Plus, look how he has those feet? What a cool dude!

PP-046 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We started walking and thinking of what we could do next. And of course, DH had to take this photo because we can't walk past Muppets 3-D without it! But we weren't ready to head in there just yet for a show.

05-042 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We went over to the animation courtyard to check on the wait for Sofia, but it was already monstrous. So we poked our heads into the animation building, but no signs of any characters there either.

05-054 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

So we decided that I would take DS to the restroom while DH went to get in line for the first Disney Jr. Live show.

05-053 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DS and I finished up in the restroom and came out to find DH sitting outside waiting for us with the stroller. He had gotten in line, only to be told a minute or so later that the first show was being cancelled! So now what were we going to do? We looked over at the next showing of Voyage of the Little Mermaid but it wasn't until 10:50 and it was barely 10 am! By the time we had hemmed and hawed a bit, we figured we might as well go get in line for Sorcerer Mickey since he should be out soon. But once we got back inside, we found a HUGE group wearing matching shirts had joined the line, and all of the switchbacks were being used!! So with all of our options falling apart one after the other, what the heck were we going to do now?

UP NEXT: A fabulous & fancy character meet!

You know, it's occurred to me that I have yet to meet the "Hollywood" versions of the Fab 5. That's just wrong.

Aww, nothing worse than setting up for a picture only to have the sun right in your eyes. I guess the characters must be used to it since it never seems to affect them at all. :scratchin

God, I haven't met Buzz or Woody either. Oy!! On the bright side DS sure does look like he's warming to the characters quite a bit. My goodness, what an outstanding interaction.

HAHAHAHA, yes, that is an AWESOME pose with Lightning. :thumbsup2

Daisy and Donald look so cute in their hollywood outfits! That picture of Paxton with them is so cute eventhough the sun was in his eyes.

In that picture of you pushing the stroller towards the hat it looks like everyone is walking super fast!

So all of the parks open the turnstiles up 15 minutes before park opening? I didn't know that!

I'm glad DS had fun on Toy Story Mania!

I love all the pictures from your meet with Buzz and Woody, but my favorite is the one where he is holding both of their hands.

That stinks that they lost the rest of your pictures from the meet :(

What a cool dude Paxton is! I love the picture of him with Lightening McQueen!

Hollywood Studios is such a tough park, we have had that problem many times - what to do?!
