I think we are done with Ohana

I would agree with people that say the only way to change things is to complain at the time.

There is no excuse for cold food and you shouldn't accept it.

There is no excuse for rushed service and you shouldn't tolerate it.

We have had generally good experiences at 'Ohana but the one time they one time they bought food when we were not ready for it I told them to take it away and they did.

We have had a few experiences at other Disney restaurants when they brought dessert menus while one of our party was still eating and I told them to take them away.

I don't care if they are trying to turn over tables. I am there to enjoy my meal and I won't let someone bully me.

For the price just ok to inedible doesn't cut it!

Sadly, I agree with the consensus here. The last time we dined at Ohana was in February and everything was just so-so. Not bad, but not great either. We decided on that trip that we would give Ohana a rest for awhile to explore other dining options. Since February, we have found that Kona Cafe is a much more enjoyable experience!

We were at Ohana in June 2012. We were very excited to go there. I don't recall an overly long wait ( we eat on the early side ) nor do I recall being rushed. What I do recall though is the lack of attentiveness by the staff and most importantly being served RAW CHICKEN ( I'm talking pink in the middle type). I had brought this to the attention of the server and the manager at the restaurant ( who dismissed it quite easily regardless of the health hazard that it is). I also spoke with the Hotel Manager. We will be heading back this coming May and I think DD 19 still wants to go back ( I think it's because of the bread, noodles and potstickers). Believe it or not, we were served RAW CHICKEN again a few days later at KONA. Hopefully neither will happen this trip.

We gave up on 'Ohana a long time ago, but normally in these topics someone comes along saying it was the best meal of their trip. Where are they?:confused3

Well said.

Ohana was always a must do for us. Last time we were in Orlando and did not go to Disney (we went on a cruise and went out of Port Canaveral) we even made a stop there...

It's gone down hill little by little, and at first, I think we were making excuses for them to others and ourselves. However, the last time it was downright horrid, and this Ohana loving family could not make any more excuses. We will not be back... :confused3

Right here :wave2:

'Ohanas has consistently been the best meal of our trips to Disney. Maybe we've just been lucky. Hope our luck continues in 11 days. :goodvibes

This fact is precisely why the Polynesian is vastly overpriced for the service it provides: ONE bar for a hotel this size that is swamped when its ONE deluxe dining destination opens. The second most expensive hotel in WDW offers only two restaurants? Really?

I have actually never thought of this, but this is a very good point! I wonder if they do expand and offer Villas at the Poly if they will add a few more restaurants as well?

As for my experience, I enjoyed it last time I went (March 2012). I wouldn't say I was "wowed" by it. One of the things I liked best was the dressing on the salad and the three dipping sauces, and I understand that these have both been changed since then. I wasn't going to go back on this trip as I have since switched to a pescetarian diet, but I have heard that many vegetarians have had really wonderful experiences there.

I think if I have learned anything about Disney dining, it is that everyone should go and try for themselves.

At least when the Tangaroa Terrace existed guests staying in the eastern side of this sprawling resort had an option closer to home, so to speak. Even so, teh Terrace was, like Kona Cafe now, a glorified coffee shop.

WDW's most popular deluxe resort has offered mediocre food for more than twenty years.

I'm not sure if you have a car or not but if you do then I would go to Texas De Brazil on International Drive. Same type of concept but the food is excellent and the staff professional. We had heard rumors about the service and food at O'hana and decided to try something else. Made the correct decision.

I can second this! Fogo de Chao is another excellent choice and either one puts 'Ohana to shame indeed.

The last time I went to Ohana was on our honeymoon in June 2009 and it was an awesome experience, especially since it was our first time there. We made an ADR for Ohana for our trip in a couple weeks but if the service/food has changed that much, maybe I'll try a different restaurant somewhere else :/

Next year I'm going to do Cali Grill instead. It's my SO first trip and I wanted to take him to Ohana but it's so hit or miss.

Even though I had a great experience at Ohana last time we were there, I would DEFINITELY pick Cali Grill over Ohana any day! I haven't been there since they reopened but we went there 2 years ago and it became one of our favorite restaurants at Disney. The view, the service, and the food was all amazing. We're going back in a couple weeks and can't wait to see the remodeled restaurant and try the new food :)

i'm not sure it's changed that much. i thought it was pretty terrible back in 2009. lots of people still like it. you might still like it.

That was the exact problem we had, the last few times we ate there....only difference being it was breakfast for us. Years back...it was not this way. I really feel they have gone downhill.

Just ate there a couple weeks ago, prob won't go back. We have tried most table services on property so now have our favs and this is NOT one of them. To be honest, we stayed at the Poly and really weren't wowed by anything there. We much prefer AK lodge and Boma to the Poly and OHana.

I'm not sure the problem is the decline in 'Ohana quality so much as customers realizing the eat-til-you-burst concept gets less attractive when you've tried other options (I'm not crazy about buffets either). Mass produced food like 'Ohana's isn't gonna be very good.

We has breakfast there a year ago and it was very good. Our server was attentive to the point of being obnoxious. We had a food allergy issue and he was REALLY concerned about it. It was our first time there and it was not a busy time of year or day.
