Just like the tipping sticky. I mean really Disboards aren't weather gods. How many times can the question "will I be able to swim in January", asked in June of the prior year, be answered? Sorry. I can't help it. Normally I just look over threads I'm not interested in, but come on people. Nobody knows what the temperature will be when you are going. If you pack 6 months in advance and only have shorts and there is a cold front, you will be cold. If its hot, you will be fine. Pack a swimsuit. They're tiny and don't take up much space. If you can use it cool. If not:confused3.

And the ones who ask if it will be crowded Easter week. Or "Has anyone ever stayed at Pop Century?"

With these types of questions you have to ask yourself how do these people make it through the rest of their lives.

Regarding the temperature questions. You would think if you are smart enough to use the internet you could perform a search for the average temperatures in Orlando and make a decision on your own.

Heh, when we went in December a bazillion years ago we were the only ones in the pool. We're from Maine, it was PLENTY warm enough for us! :D And it was especially cool to have the steam rising from the pool while we were swimming. :lovestruc

I have been gulity of this. I'm looking for people advice that have been there before and have more knowledge then I do about the issue.

As well as a "Can I Park Hop With A Multi-day Base Ticket" sticky.

The probability is 95% that during any 7 day span (typical vacation) even in January or February you will be able to (go to a water park) and swim comfortably on at least one day.

I live "up north" and still do not consider 65 degrees F in winter in Florida as comfortable to swim in. For me, gotta be 75 or warmer.

Now I do know some folks who enjoy being able to duck down into the heated pool water when the temps are in the 40's or below.

We were there in mid-November and we saw people with coats and UGGs on when it when it was 70 degrees! They had to live directly on the equator if 70 felt cold!:rotfl:

Those types of questions are the reason that the DIS exists. We are here to offer trip planning advice and answer questions. If you have lived in Illinois all your life and have no idea how warm it is in Florida in Feb then this is the place to ask it. You may assume that it is 80-90 degrees there all the time and always swimming weather, when in fact it can be quite cold. I was glad that, because of the DIS, I threw in a few pairs of pants, sweatshirts and our winter coats and gloves in the car. I actually really didn't think we would need a winter coat, gloves and earmuffs in Florida--the Sunshine State.

When I joined this site it was to ask dumb questions like those mentioned here, and many more. And I really appreciated the wonderful advice that I got from those that were experienced and it really went a long way toward making all of our trips wonderful.

These people DID google to find the answer to their questions-- and that Google search led them here. Many Disney related topics will bring up a DISboards link in the first few results. If they stop coming and stop asking then there is no reason to keep the DIS open. Everyone here came as a newbie at some point, most likely because they were planning a WDW trip and wanted help with their planning.

So stop by the Planning boards and pick a "stupid" question from a newbie and answer it truthfully with a big smile :). You just might help make someone's trip a little better.:goodvibes

Well I didn't use the word stupid. I just said it should be a sticky it is ask so much. Honestly, if you look at the amount of times the swimming/clothing item is asked, you may agree it is way too often. Put a sticky swimming/weather/clothes thread at the top and everyone can ask there and people living near Orlando can give daily updates if they are so inclined.

Edited to add: As you can see no one can answer the swimming question. Personally I'm not going in the water unless water temp is above 85 and air is above 90. Others will go when it's 50. No one answer to that. And I live in Florida and I have no idea what the weather will be like in February. I have been on the beach in my swimsuit on Christmas Day and I have been bundled up with the heat on and a blanket other times.

.

Forgot to mention--Stickies are NOT read! We know for a fact that putting up a sticky is really not effective. And the more stickies you have, the less likely they are to noticed. For instance I have an FAQ Sticky that says "Posting Photos" and another Sticky specificaly on how to post photos on the Welcome Board and yet every few days we have a thread started on "how do I post photos".

If that topic were made a Sticky, you would still have the questions posted.

1. Didn't know they could ...
2. Didn't want to spend the money to ...
3. All in use so they could not ...

... rent a locker to put their coats and stuff.

Some topics that get asked over an over again get replied to promptly and politely by the same cadre of experienced members usually with more than two of them chiming in. One of them (I won't mention his name) puts in a canned reply (the same thing verbatim) each time that question pops up, regardless of how many others replied with the same answer.

While I understand what you're getting at I find myself coming to the DIS boards with basic questions hoping for answers from those more experienced than I. It's fine to consult a travel book/website but even better to ask people who have experienced the weather, crowds, etc.
We're planning our first ever Dec trip for Christmas 2010 :santa: . We have always gone in during the summer months so this is a true first for us. I have indeed looked for the "weather in Dec" threads even though I've also checked MSN weather and consulted my MIL/FIL who live in Daytona. I'm one who didn't know how the temperture fluctautes so much in Florida! Last week was in the 60's this week up to 80!
I'll be spending the next 12 months on the DIS boards planning our trip hoping for answers to more questions some may consider repetative but it's because everyone here is so awesome about sharing their knowledge!
