As many of you know we've been playing around with the idea of upgrading the past few weeks. After much debate and opinions of others you guys finally conviced me to change to CSR. I was SO excited about it!!!! I checked again on the price yesterday and everything was fine, but when I called tonight to officially make the change there were no rooms left. I nearly cried right then and there. I checked online to make sure and sure enough....nothing!!! Now I don't know what to do....Stay at All Star Movies, switch to POP, go with DBR, go with POR. I would give about anything to go back to AKL, but we just can't afford it and PORFQ and CSR are both sold completely out of rooms. The stress level rises..........and on my birthday too today.

Sorry to hear that but Happy Birthday! I hadn't been in on your earlier discussion so I don't know how many are in your family. But if it helps any DH and I stayed at Movies last Sept and loved it! Of course the only other place we've stayed was Sports so I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison. You can keep trying to get in at a moderate. Sometimes people cancel or they open up more rooms. If not, I hope you like Movies as much as we did. Good Luck!:upsidedow

Thank you! And I'm so glad you liked AS Movies...you're about the only one I've heard who did. Everyone seems to have such bad things to say about it and especially the bus system and rooms. I saw a video of the rooms on YouTube and wow did I get clausterphobic just watching it....so tiny!!

As for our situation there are 4 adults and 2 kids (7 and 5) going down on a Saturday in October and on wednesday two of the adults and the two kids will be leaving and my mom and I will be staying on until the next Saturday.

I would switch to POR. DH and I stayed there last year, and it was very peaceful - and beautiful. The rooms were very nicely sized, and I really liked the extra sink space just outside of the tub area to get ready. We had two connecting rooms so that the boys could go to bed early, but once we checked in really felt that if the boys had been a little older, a single room would have been plenty of space for us all. You also have to consider how much time you'll actually be spending in the room vs. at the parks and the pool. But whatever you decide - it will still be a great trip :)

We've stayed at both CSR & POR and we preferred POR. CSR is really nice, but IMO POR has a much more welcoming feel to it. The main building is really nice and their food court is awesome! Plus, you have Yee-Haw Bob for entertainment at night, lots of recreation and the boat ride to DTD is wonderful. If you're still looking to upgrade, I think you should give POR a shot - I really don't think you'll be disappointed. I know it's silly, but I honestly believe that everything happens for a reason. I've been in situations like the one you're in right now and in the end, everything turned out for the better.

Happy Birthday!! :flower3:

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment - I've had things like that happen to me as well. Just in booking our upcoming trip, the price of airline tickets increased substantially between the time I checked in the morning and when I went to book them that night.

I also don't know your whole story, but if it helps, my family and I have stayed at all the mods except POFQ, as well as POP. We all agree that of these choices we definitely prefer POR, although POP has its unique attractions as well. For us, we prefer to take a longer, more leisurely vacation, and for that reason like the quiet of POR, even though it can be a long walk around the resort. I would recommend giving it a try, as long as you don't mind the size (I only stayed a CSR once, and honestly, it felt bigger to me than POR, although it may have been that my kids were younger and it took longer to get around!).

Whatever you decide, I hope you are able to look forward to it and have a great time!

POR!!! We were big huge gigantic fans of CSR until we went to POR last year because CSR was booked. I was all upset like you are. I agree with a previous poster that it just has a more "welcoming " laid back feel. The grounds are stunning and the busses are good and there is no really far rooms to be had. It is great.
Go for it.
We have also stay at ASMu and loved it there. Nothing bad to say about busses or rooms. The grounds were pretty but with my now bigger family of 4 and we are bringing a 5th (niece) with us we are getting 2 rooms at POR for our trip in about 2 weeks. Yippee!

Don't give up hope! People cancel all the time. But be prepared to make your change immediately if something opens up. I had a similar situation a couple years ago. I was debating staying in a monorail resort or an Epcot resort, and when I made up my mind - no Epcot resort rooms available. It took about three days for me to find availability at BC and I booked it as soon as I saw it.

You'll have a great vacation no matter where you stay. I've stayed at nearly all the Disney resorts, and haven't found a bad one yet!

Hope you have a magical day. But honestly you'll be much better off over at POR. While I've not stayed at POR, only POFQ, I'd much rather be at POR than CSR.

Happy Birthday!

If it is any help. my sister is a snob [love you sissy] and she prefers POR over AKL. She likes AKL a lot but for the money and space - she has 5 in her family, POR is the better deal.

I hope you get a great gift today - either the room of your dreams or peace of mind with what you do have.

Make many magical memories!

I wanted to book POR for my DDs birthday party. It was sold out through WDW, but I was able to book through travelocity. Apparently, the big online agencies often buy rooms in bulk.

Check those before you give up.

That sucks.

I would rather stay at POP than stay at any moderate besides CSR.

We stayed at CSR last year, and this year we found all the rooms booked. We looked at the other moderates and weren't impressed. We don't like the room decor at CBR, and weren't impressed with anything at POR or POFQ.

keep checking back, and next time, don't wait so long to make the change.:surfweb:

We love both CSR and POR so I would not hesitate to switch to POR, but I would do it immediately before that is gone as well. I you still have your heart set on CSR you can keep calling for it, but you will at least have POR and if you end up there you will LOVE it!!!!

I'm sorry you aren't having much luck but for what it's worth, I've stayed at both POFQ and POR the last couple times to Disney and those have turned out to be our favorite moderates.

Happy Birthday Op!

Just keep on checking, things open up as people switch resorts/cancel/ blocked rooms from wholesalers get released back to Disney, etc...

And Op don't cry -- cry if you can't go at all but don't cry just because a resort you want is full.. you already have a guaranteed room elsewhere!:hug: I'd love to go this year at all but we had to cancel due to work commitments my hubby had.

Sorry about your dissapointments. You stated that you like AKL but just couldn't swing it. Have you considered renting points from a dvc member and staying that way. It makes it much more afordable. Since we started renting points we wouldn't stay anyother way. Having all that room is so nice and being able to do meals the way you want. Add to the fact that I can put a load of towels or whatever in at night is wonderful. Sipping coffee out on the balconey or porch before the rest of the crew is up is worth its weight in gold. I have found it cheaper to stay with my family of five this way and we are not cramped. This is especialy significant if you have teenagers. Those rollaways at POR are just not long enough. Their feet hang off the end.

Just remember, wherever you stay, you are at Disney!:yay: Maybe something will open up at CSR, just keep calling. If it doesn't, whereever you stay, you will have a great time. I've stayed at POR before and we really liked it.
