I Snagged a Cabana!!!

I never ever had any interest in a cabana until reading this thread. Now I suddenly think I need one. :sad2:

The only time I've had one it was nice because my dad was going to have hip replacement surgery a week or so after the cruise - having that place and the button to get a ride for him to the bathroom and/or the food was a godsend.

But outside of that, I've had 3 other WONDERFUL and MAGICAL trips to Castaway Cay without having one. It's 100% doable to have the best day ever without dumping all that money.

We were fortunate enough to snag #20 a few years ago, back when it was still pretty new. There wasn't as much vegetation around it so not as much privacy and shade as some of the older ones but it still felt very private and stayed relatively cool inside. It is a decent walk from the cabana to the food/bars, etc. and we didn't have much luck with our little button calling for a ride so we just made the walk most of the time. Back then there were no cabana bathrooms so it's great that they added those. It's in front of the smaller tide pool which we were excited about at first but on the day we were there, the sea lice were bad in there so we ended up having to swim down in the regular family beach area. From what I heard, that's not normal. It was awesome to not have much foot traffic in front though and it was really quiet and peaceful down on the end. We would rent it again in a heartbeat if we got the chance!
What time of year did you sail? We will be sailing in December. I wonder if it will be too cold for sea lice. :crazy2:
