I Snagged a Cabana!!!

We've had a cabana twice - once when concierge and once not. Both times the service was extremely lacking. Was told they would take us back to the tram via golf cart and never came back to get us (they were taking the family in the next cabana and said they would come right back for us). Pushed the call button during the day several times and no one ever came. We ended up literally chasing down a bar server on the beach several cabanas away to get a cocktail since no one came when we rang the bell. It didn't make for a relaxing day. I thought the first time might have been a fluke but the second time was the same. That this was prior to adding the new cabanas on the family beach. Hope your experience is much better.

That’s terrible. I am so sorry for your experience. Yes, I hope it has gotten better. Especially because I have a slight mobility issue and wouldn’t be able to walk back to the tram.

Where and when do these show up on the website to book? Are they under port adventures? I don't see them anywhere or is that because my booking window hasn't opened up yet? I think my chances are slim due to only being silver :sad1:

Same place as where you booked port adventures for your first cruise. Only it will be midnight 90 days before as opposed to 75 days before which it was for your first cruise.

They would be in Port Adventures on your Castaway day.

Your booking window likely hasn’t opened up yet.

If you are a Platinum Castaway member or a Concierge Guest you can book 120 days prior to sailing, Gold Castaway members can book 105 before sail away, Silver members can book 90 out and new cruisers 75 days before departure. The problem for Silver members is that by the time your booking window opens up, the cabanas are already gone. You can make the reservation under cruise activities.

Thank you. I kind of figured they will be gone by the time my window opens, I'll try any way. Another reason to strive for gold and platinum :sunny:

Absolutely! I’m getting closer and closer to gold as well. Don’t give up checking though because you never know when one will become available. People change their plans all the time. I was sick on my last cruise so I had to cancel my Remy reservation :(but I’m sure a lucky couple got to dine in my place.

It can also depend on ship and time of year. And also if you're looking for Serenity Bay (all 18+ in your party) or need a family beach one (you've got under 18s in your group).

I got one at Silver booking for Feb 2017 - but I was on the Magic and looking for Serenity Bay during President's Week when a lot of the ship was families on school break.

This! Don't give up. Keep checking once you are in your booking window! Good luck! :flower2:

Congrats! I’ve never looked into the cabanas. What comes with them? I hear they’re expensive.

How expensive is a cabana and what do you get for that cost ?
I pulled this off a different site.

The Family Beach Cabanas currently cost $549.00 (October through February) or $599.00 (March through September). These prices include up to six Guests; the Cabanas can host a maximum of 10 Guests at an additional $50.00 per person.

The Grand Family Beach Cabana is currently $899.00 and is also located at the Family Beach on Castaway Cay. This price includes up to 10 Guests; the Cabana can host a maximum of 16 Guests at an additional $50.00 per person.

The Serenity Bay Beach Cabanas currently cost $399.00 and are located in the adults-only beach, Serenity Bay, on Castaway Cay. This price includes up to four Guests (18 years of age and over); the Cabana can host a maximum of 10 Guests (18 years of age and over) at an additional $50.00 per person.

Of course, the prices are subject to change, but hopefully that gives you an idea of what to expect. Also, there is currently a 7.5% Bahamian tax that is not included in those prices you'll want to keep in mind.

I never ever had any interest in a cabana until reading this thread. Now I suddenly think I need one. :sad2:

We were fortunate enough to snag #20 a few years ago, back when it was still pretty new. There wasn't as much vegetation around it so not as much privacy and shade as some of the older ones but it still felt very private and stayed relatively cool inside. It is a decent walk from the cabana to the food/bars, etc. and we didn't have much luck with our little button calling for a ride so we just made the walk most of the time. Back then there were no cabana bathrooms so it's great that they added those. It's in front of the smaller tide pool which we were excited about at first but on the day we were there, the sea lice were bad in there so we ended up having to swim down in the regular family beach area. From what I heard, that's not normal. It was awesome to not have much foot traffic in front though and it was really quiet and peaceful down on the end. We would rent it again in a heartbeat if we got the chance!
