I skipped THIS attraction, what was I thinking???

How many of you out there have skipped an attraction on all of your visits, thinking it was either ((using my daughter's terminology)) lame, or the lines were always to long, or you just plain overlooked the attraction; only to ride the attraction and find out how great it was?

Here are a few of mine.

Enchanted Tiki Room: Always skipped this, thinking it was...well, I really didn't know what the heck it was, but we skipped it! Anyways, last trip out to DLR we hit it and LOVED it! Loved it so much that we hit it again at WDW only to be completely disappointed with the "Under New Management" portion of the ride.

Journey Into Imagination: Skipped it everytime because a) had no clue it was there, and b) Usually just saw Honey I Shrunk the Kids and left the building for the day. Rode it this time around and had a blast (literally, too!!!) I liked it so much that I got a stuffed Figment and I got my picture taken with Figment!

The Great Movie Ride: Skipped it every trip because I was dumb and thought that the tram ride was what this was. Figured it out while planning for this trip and we rode it several times on our last trip. Wonderful ride. The wife really loved it and cannot wait to return to go on it again.

A few for my DW:

Splash Mountain: My wife hated coasters or anything that has a drop to it. Being married to a coaster enthusiast, however, has brought her around some. While she still won't go on ToT, she did a lot more rides this year. At DL she went on Splash Mountain for her first time. It was fifty degrees out that day so she was cold and miserable the whole time. We went on the one at WDW where the weather was a tad more appropriate (95 degrees) and she absolutely LOVED it. Normally, I am the one saying, "Let's ride again!" and dragging her back into a queue. This time it was her and we went three more times.

Rock'n'Roller Coaster: Like I said before, my wife hated coasters. She still hates big drops, but for some reason, she is okay with curving drops and inversions. She decided to give RnR a try on our last WDW vacation, citing that she would at least like the music. (We are both huge Aerosmith fans) Anyways, she loved the ride (after being nervous and figity before getting on the first time) and we rerode several times during our vacation. We nearly got on the boats from Epcot to go to MGM JUST for RnR for her one day!

PoC -- it wasn't until our 3rd trip that we could talk our son into riding it (he was 7 at the time) and now he's counting down until Dec. when we ride again to look for the updates.

SM -- yeah, I'm a ride wimp. I got talked into it on that same 3rd trip (I figure if I can talk my son into riding things, then once and a while I can let him talk me into something) and, like your DW, I now LOVE it.

We plan to try the "fear free" version of Mission Space this Dec. (neither DH nor DS and forget about me) wanted to try it before. We've also never done Hall of Presidents (never seems to be open at the right times) but we're hoping to check it out.

I had never done "Ellen's Energy Adventure" because it just didn't seem like fun to me - DH and I went on it this last trip and I really liked it! It's not on my "must do" list for every trip, but I am glad I got to see it at least once!

I chickened out of Splash Mountain for the last three years, finally plucked up the courage this year and loved it. I made the whole family ride three times in a row they refused the fourth time

We skipped Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, RnRC, and ToT our first THREE trips to WDW because the kids were to small to ride and we just didn't feel like doing all the swapping and stuff. Now we never miss any of them

DD9 and I had never taken the time to do either Walt- One Man's Dream or the Animation Studio in MGM until one day this past May - we decided to check them both out..... who knew she would be so interested in Walt's biography and all the "artifacts". She also LOVED the Animation Studios especially learning to draw the characters - we were there on a relatively quiet day, and she did it 3 or 4 times in a row!

On our first trip to WDW, we chickened out and didn't try RnR, Splash Mountain or Test Track (or Space Mountain or ToT). On our 2nd trip, we decided we were going to be brave and try a few of the ones we skipped. We absolutely loved RnR. My DD13 had to take the chicken exit the first time we went through the line, but bravely went back through and tried it again and loved it. We loved Test Track and Splash Mountain. And, had to buy the ride photos of each to prove we went on them! I did Space Mountain at DL when I was but a mere teen (ha), and am not sure I'd like it now that I've aged. I don't think I can ever try ToT ... the whole dropping multiple times and having airtime (which I hate!) bothers me. Might have to walk through and take the chicken exit just so I can see the decor!

We also do alot of skipping but then ( Like on our next 2 trips ) we are working on hitting everything again . So we will do the map markoff thing to keep track.

We were just down for 8 wonderful days and hit all we wanted to but spent a lot of time in the waterparks (late June) so we didn't have time to do some of the less desired rides.

We have done everything but the Narnia exibit (not sure why we walked right by it) and we don't use maps anymore just get a showtimes list.But some things we haven't done in a few years so it's time .

I'd never gone on Tom Sawyer's Island until the last trip there.

We skipped The Country Bears show because we didn't want to wait 18 minutes. We also skipped the Buzz Lightyear ride. I want to do both of these next time because I kind of look at it as the only things we haven't done.

I bet Tom Sawyer Island (if that name is even right) gets skipped alot. We did it and I am glad we did. PLUS I love the view of the Haunted Mansion from there. Unbelievable.

Liberty Belle Boat ride. Not something to do every trip. But boy, one VERRRRRY hot August day we decided to hop on board as it was just about to leave the dock. What a GREAT thing. We sat on deck w/ a nice breeze (I can't really say cool) and totally regrouped. When we made it back to shore we were ready to hit the park again. It was just such a pretty peaceful trip...and I always thought it was "lame" before.

I skipped Dinosaur until my last trip in June and I was floored by how much fun it was!

Until August, I had never been in Hall of Presidents as I figured it wouldn't be relavent to a British chick like me. How wrong was I? It was incredibly moving and I loved it. I also finally rode the TTA which was relaxing and all, glad I've done it and get the in-jokes now.
Over in MGM I went to see One Mans Dream, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and the Narnia exhibit. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of these, loved seeing a piece of Walts history, loved walking through the wardrobe and loved the feel of a TV set.
At Epcot I finally clicked why people love World Showcase so much and I really took my time exploring the countries, there is so much to get out of these pavillions.
So even though I thought I knew the ins and outs of WDW, it was only when I stopped tearing from thrill ride to thrill ride that I saw some hidden gems. Theres still a few more for me to try in a few weeks though and I can't wait
Oh yeah, I also went up and did Astro Orbitor because I never had!

Last trip, i skipped Splash Mountain and BTM.... WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! So the next trip at the end of October... guess what i will be riding!!

Also others, i've never saw or rode is the Riverboat, Hall of Presidents and the TTA. I also plan to ride these this time as well.

We've been to DW three times now, the first time we tried to get EVERY RIDE IN....same with second time...but then we looked back and realized...we had still missed some things. Here's the rides/attractions we missed but did on the third trip:

Ellen's Energy Adventure​

I loved that ride! It was hilarious, because, come on, who doesn't love Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye (the Science Guy!!)?? Definately doing that when we go back!

Okay...so there might have been a reason why we didn't do this before....egh...it was...well...lame....

Magic of Disney Animation​

Meh, it was interesting...didn't really like the drawing aspect of it, but hey, Frozon, Mrs. Incredible, and Mr. Incredible were in there, and that's always good!

Other than that, we did most of the other rides....except for the fact that it was the second week in July and INCREDIBLY crowded...but yeah...

Though, this is my second trip this year, so I am going to give more time to the attractions that I skipped last time. It is my goal this trip to ride everything, at least once.

We'll see if I can tear myself away from Splash Mountain long enough to do this.

We missed the Tiki Room on our last trip, so definitely want to try that. We also didn't spend as much time exploring the countries at World Showcase.

On our trip in 1996, we missed Indiana Jones because we kept missing the show times and on the last day we went back and it was closed for the cheerleading competitions. I was so happy to see it when we went in 2002. DH has attended it 3 times but never actually watched the show...he's always one of the participants . I'm hoping he'll actually watch this trip, but probably not .
