I seriously do not have enough points!

I went to do some pretrip planning for next years big 2 week vacation....I do not have enough points! I didn't think the reallocation of points would be that big a deal, but for me it is! EEK, I am short between 7 to 25 depending upon how I set up the reservation.
I know this means I need to buy some more, but DH is not going to be happy about it, lol! He is in that everything is almost paid for place.

What about utilizing the one time per use year points available from DVC? I think it's up to 25 per use year

The place that the reallocation hurt us was in the increase in the weekday costs of a BC at Vero. We did buy 50 more points. Good luck in getting what you want or need!

If you go that route, you can only buy the extra 24 points at the 7 month mark and you must do it at the time you make your reservation.

I just realized I was going to be short some points as well for an upcoming reservation. I chose to have points transferred in from another member. Transaction went very smoothly and now those points are sitting in my account so I don't lose my 11 month booking advantage.

Not only rent, but when I was looking to transfer points, I found out they will find a member who is willing to transfer points for you at $12 a point (I believe).

I may have to learn more about having another member transfer points for a fee. That may be exactly what I need until I can find what I am looking for contract wise.

I you want to make a reservation at the 11 month mark for a 2 bdrm and your short 24 points, you would have to book a different type of room and then at the 7 month mark, buy the 24 points and hope that you can find a 2bdrm?

Geez - looks like I need to buy more points! Right now, I'm ok for my vacation next year that I can book in October but who knows going forward!

Well I myself haven't used the service yet, so hopefully someone who has can chime in as well.

You can only buy up to 24 points in one single transactions (so not 10 one time and 14 another) in a single UY. It can only be done at the 7 month mark and cannot be used retroactively on exisiting reserverations. They also expire in the UY the vacation is in.

When making a reservation at 11 months I would think is always a good idea to book exactly what you want so you are not scrambling at the 7 month mark to get what you are looking for. I see what you are saying about needing the extra points and not being able to get them at 11 months. So it seems like the 24 extra point purchase would work best in a split stay scenario, assuming you can get what you want. Like I said I have never used them so don't have first hand experience. I am thinking about it for our Alunai trip next summer and since we don't own there I can only book at the month mark anyway.

This is exactly why this service will not work for me with my upcoming grand gathering. I need to be able to get all nights at the 11 month mark. I just can't chance waiting until the 7 month mark to add that last night.

Now that being said, this service would work if we didn't care where we were going to stay (which would be the case for us for any other trip because we adore every DVC resort), but we absolutely want to stay at the resort of our choice for this particular trip.
