Hey Peeple! I got some mail today!
I got a lovely little note from Mom2Em where she apologizes for the fact that her 1st set to me is missing in action (happens to everyone at one time or another - so no need to apologize Mom2Em). And anyway, she's made good by sending me some new ones and they are lovely.
She has sent me 2 postcards about Abe Lincoln - the first one has a montage of phtographs (with Abe with and without his trademark beard) and it notes when he was President (1861-1865). The second is of forested Oakridge Cemetery - where Lincoln was interred until 1871 when the remains were removed to the Tomb (actually, this is the most fascinating postcard - it's not morbid at all....)
Then I have received 3 postcards that have as background - the shape of Illinois:
The 1st postcard has a picture of the State Capitol building in Springfield and (interesting fact here) the dome height of the Illinois State Capitol is 74 ft. taller than the U.S. Capitol dome.
The 2nd postcard has a montage imposed on the shape of the state. They are the State Capitol Building, the Old State Capitol, "Kohoutek" which is a bald Eagle who resides at the TreeHouse Wildlife Centre, Lincoln's Tomb and his home.
Now the last one is a map of Illinois with major cities shown on it. I recognize some of the names, of course. As a Canadian I can recognize the shapes of certain states - Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, Washington State, California, etc. (you know the ones I've been to!

) - but now I'll be able to recognize Illinois by it's shape.
Thank you Mom2Em. What a lovely surprise in the mail I got today!
Wow! I feel like I received many more postcard exchanges than the ones I signed up for! I must be done now!
Anyway, I'm sure that a lot of people out there know this trick already - but I have an old pocket photo album (you just slip the pictures in). Well, since I scrapbooked all our Disney trips - I use this "old" photo album to keep postcards in that people send me! They fit perfectly!
Thank you everyone! And especially Nutsy - for organizing this postcard exchange!
