I seem to be shrinking; how tall are you?

The last time I was measured was a physical b/4 college. I was 5'2.5 inches then. I now have a new doctor who measured me & got 5'. So in the last 50 or so yrs, I have shrunk by 2.5"! Too many hot showers?

I thought it was odd that all my pants need shortening

Not shrinking yet at age 49; however, my mom went in one year and had lost an inch. That's a big warning flag for osteoporosis of the spine. Yep, she's got it. You may want to get that checked out.

As is the fact that I used to be only the tallest girl in my family - now I'm the tallest person. Father and brother have shrunk in the last five years cause I'm pretty sure I'm not growing.

Whoops, forgot - somewhere between 5'9" and 5'10".

5'4 since forever, had spine surgery gained a 1/2 inch.

My mom shrunk an inch. The Dr said it was osteoporosis.

You aren't imagining things, nor are you alone. The typical person will shrink about half an inch each decade after they turn 40. As you age, the discs in your spine naturally dry out and become thinner, thus your spine compresses and you become shorter. Some people will shrink more/faster due to disease as well, osteoporosis being a big cause.

At the end of 6th grade, just as I turned 12 years old, I hit my high point of 5'2".

About 15 years ago (in my mid-20s), a doctor cheerfully informed me that I was now 5' 1 3/4".

I am now 39 and have been holding at 5' 1 1/4" for about 5 years.

One of my closest friends, however...we were the same height during our freshman year of HS (and I have a photo to prove it). I now have to bend down to give her a hug - she claims she's 4'10".

I'm 6' (maybe a tiny hair under, but enough to cal it 6' ). At one dr. appointment a couple years ago, a tiny nurse measured me. She had to reach way over her head to bring the measuring thing up, and I honestly think she couldn't read it properly. She said I was 5'10". I thought, "whatever, I'm not going to argue with her..." Dr. didn't say anything, and honestly, I'm not sure she even looked at height on my chart.

The next year, a different nurse measured me at 5'11.5". She looked at the chart and commented how surprised she was that I had GROWN since my last visit (I was in my early 30s). Nope, no growing, just a more accurate measure.

My wife is 4' 11'' tall, if she Shrinks maybe I can get her into disney at the child rate! Lol!!! She still gets carded for everything and looks like she is about 20, she turns 32 today! Don't tell her I told everyone her real age, she'll kill me!!

I'll be 42 next month and at least check, I was still at the vertically challenged height of 5'1". I'm glad I'm not shrinking yet, but as always, I wish I was a few inches taller- especially since dh is 6'1"!
