no flames please I saw a man and a woman with pearcings all over there face and body.............and there baby had pearcings on his face and nose. I was in shock....

I'm with you. If you want to pierce yourself up and down, go for it! It's your choice. But don't do it to your baby. Wait til they are older and find out it they want that for themselves. Maybe he/she isn't crazy about piercings. He/she will still have scars from them. Maybe he/she won't care but I feel sorry for that baby!! :sad2: just my opinion too, please don't mad everyone!

I agree!! Flame away, but facial/nose piercings should definitely be reserved for those who are old enough to make their own decisions. I'm acutally surprised a professional would agree to do that to a baby.

OMG, who would do that to a baby? I mean, isn't piercing done as a form of self expression? :confused3 I'm wondering if the parents did the piercing, because most places that pierce are iffy about ear piercing an infant, never mind facial piercing :scared1:

Oh dear :sad2:

We have many friends with facial piercings but they'd never let their child / children be pierced until they were old enough to understand and have an opinion!

I believe there to be no legal age restrictions in the UK but I know that friends of ours who have tattoo / piercing shops have their own guidelines and won't pierce under 16s :confused3

My dd's pediatrician will not treat children or teens with facial piercings esp in the nose. I can't even remember how we got into the conversation as my dd's don't even have their ears pierced.

From what I remember she said that facial and belly button piercings are very easily infected and difficult to properly care for in the first few months until healed. She said she worries because if the nose and face peircings become infected and are not taken care of properly the infection can spread into the head an brain area.

Don't know if it is true and since we are not into piercing I never bothered to find out more.

My doctor said the same thing. I was around 14-15 and I was at the Dr for some reason or another. I had been wanting to get my ear pierced clear at the top of my ear. So my mom said something to him about it cause she wouldn't let me do it. Not necessarily from infection, but he did say that if they accidently hit a nerve or something, it could kill, paralyze, or really make you sick. My DD is almost 4 and everyone keeps asking me when I am gonna get her ears pierced. I always just tell them that whenever she is old enough and responsible enough to take care of them. I don't want to clean them and mess with infections and all that. No Way!

I felt so bad for this child. I am a NYS child abuse reporter. I would have turned them in...... however I do not know if that would be considerd abuse. In some countrys they pearce all sort of body parts. That poor child

I can't believe someone would do that! Maybe they were the magnetic type of earings and not actually pierced. But, in my mind that would also be a bit on the dangerous side. DD17 has been wearing a magnetic piercing in her nose for 2 years because I refuse to sign for the real thing. Figure when she is 18 she can do whatever she wants! Though I can't understand why anyone would do that to an infant????

I have a better one.. I own my own business and one of my customers does tattoos. He tattooed his then 3 year old son!!! its a plain black dragon on his arm. I was so shocked and so sad. I have a few tattoos :rolleyes1 and they did not hurt really but did not tickle either. I just had this image of this poor baby screaming and crying while they held him down to do this. I know that in some countries they tattoo and pierce kids but that is a cultural tradition to mark age, family, etc. The danger of infection is so great.. i just can't believe child services would not get involved with this.

A tatooed 3yr old???? I don't even know what to say!! I am almost 30 yrs old (tomorrow!) and I am scared to death to get a tatoo. That is just so wrong. What's next? I know, let's teach them to smoke and drink in Kindergarten. (nothing against smokers - I just meant the young age!)

Oh my! And I was in shock at WalMart when I saw a woman giving her about 6 month old cheetos while she was riding along in her infant seat! Then in the check out line a little boy about 3 was drinking a Dr. Pepper. My only guess was that they did the piercings on the baby themselves. Many people with multiple piercings have learned to do it themselves or have friends that know how to do it properly. I don't think any reputable professional would do it on a baby. I feel for that baby.

those people will regret what they did to that child. they were very young parents. maybe 18-20 . I know I regret lots of things at that age :rolleyes1

This makes me sick to my stomach...to top it off, seems like it would be a choking hazard. :sad2:

I also agree.

That just made my stomach turn. I would be suprised if child services would not investigate the couples mentioned above. That is child abuse pure and simple.

Ugh, Okay and here I was all appalled at my friend's DD who came to the theater today with makeup on. She is 6 and no she was not IN the play.
