I said Ohana, not Obama!!!! - A BFF's do NYE TR **UPDATE 11/4 Pg. 38**

Those wait times at Universal are insane! How could anyone wait in those lines ALL DAY LONG?? :confused3

Ugh, I hate when people in line don't understand the concept of personal space. It's just uncomfortable having strangers rub up against your arm and back.

Glad Boma was a success. The pictures look delicious. (Well, the food in the pictures, not the pictures themselves. :rotfl:)

Booo urns to having people everywhere, that just sucks dude! Ha! Man voice! Great one!

AHHH I'm not even kidding when I say that I totally teared up on that picture of the AKL lobby, UGH, I miss it so much already! Boma is seriously so delicious, I absolutely love it, ugh, ZEBRA DOMES I need you!!

Good luck with your Grandma. It isn't easy, but sometimes it's the best choice. It sounds like maybe an Assisted Living facility would be best? Give her freedom, but also have others around to help. My Dad is an administrator at a Nursing Home (he's done Rehab centers, Assisted Living, and traditional Nursing Homes though.) So I know there are good places out there!

As for the crowds: boo! My Mom taught me when I was younger to walk through a crowd with your elbows out. I do the same thing in lines...stand to the side with my hands on my hips. If people want to push into me, they'll get an elbow to their side :rolleyes1

They were absolutely ridiculous, I couldn't believe it honestly. :crazy2: I mean, we did what we came to do, but ugh. I would not want a repeat of that.

Everyone needs to exercise their man voice every once in a while. It works wonders.

I'm sure you did! I'm so jealous you were there. I was living vicariously through your FB updates. You guys seemed to have a blast, I can't wait to read all about it.

Best part of AKL which you now know? The fact that you can get zebra domes at the Mara!

Thanks. We have to do what's best for her. Fortunately, we know someone who's an administrator at a home in the area, so we're going to him to get some recommendations and see what the options are for her. We're being hopeful that this next stint in rehab will help her out.

I always have my hands on my hips too! I think that I need to widen the berth....

So sorry to hear about your Grandma Danielle. It's never easy.

On a lighter note, I feel as though we were destined to be friends. You've referenced Boy George, drag queens, and you like to hang out with scrappy short people? We'd totally get along. :thumbsup2

Sorry that the Universal day was a bit of a bust. At least Farrell got to see Potter land though! You're a good friend to take her.

Can't wait to hear more!

I hope you can get the perfect set up for your grandmother. It is hard to think about changing the lifestyle of someone who has loved and nurtured her family for so many years, and now she is the one who has to be taken care of.

It's been a long time since we've been to Universal. I'm guessing my kids were about 12, 9, and 5 when we went last, but I really don't have any great desire to go back as of yet, and none of them have suggested it. Even Drew, who I thought might like it for all the thrills rides, is happy just sticking with Disney stuff the few times he goes with us.

Yummy stuff at Boma - :thumbsup2. I recall the roast being delicious!

So let’s recap. It was now 4pm. What did we accomplish?

Forbidden Journey
Shrek 4D
The Mummy

That is a sad state of affairs. We were there for 7 HOURS!

:faint: Wow! That's the only thing I can think of to say. At least all three of those attractions are decent, and hey, the pizza looked good. :rotfl2: Maybe they need a crowd calendar for Universal. Those crowds sound insane.

Phrase(s) of the day (seriously can’t believe I FORGOT to mention this one) –

Farrell – Wow, that looks like owl poop on the castle. It’s probably pigeon poop, but we’ll say it’s owl poop for theming.

Danielle – I have to rinse out my mug……..
Farrell response – What did you say about your Mogwi?!

Danielle – If I had one of those tour guide sticks, I’d probably be hitting people with it.

Danielle – You JACKWWWAAAGGGGOOOONNNNN!!!

Farrell – Get behind me, or I think I’m going to jack this woman in the face!

Danielle – (deep voiced) Come with me if you want to live
Farrell response – Dude, your man voice sounds like a drag queen.

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Great update. You have had been grinning and laughing ever since I read this!

hey... catching up on 20 + pages...;)

Before I forget I'm sorry about your Grandmom... That's really hard for her and for you and your family... making those decisions is really difficult...

You ladies have quite a bit of fortitude..;) ... you manage to have quite a bit of fun with the adult beverages... and get quite a bit done as well...;) Hmmm... maybe there is a correlation...

Dying to go to the Cava in Mexico...what did you also call it , the Ditch? I haven't heard/read that before...:confused3

I love, love, love Yeti's perspective on all of this...:thumbsup2

How did you get Yeti up with Mickey in Epcot on that ship???:scratchin

Will have to read about what you get up to in Paris...

Thank you. It's not going to be easy, but we'll work through it.

I think we were destined to be friends! Nice picking up on my Boy George reference. Seriously, I was obsessed with him when I was like five years old. I'll Tumble For Ya was like my favorite song ever! Oh, and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me? Best ever. Good thing we live in the same area. We will have to meet each other sometime soon.

I hope you can get the perfect set up for your grandmother. It is hard to think about changing the lifestyle of someone who has loved and nurtured her family for so many years, and now she is the one who has to be taken care of.

It's been difficult for us and for her to handle as well. She knows that we'll do what's best for her though. It just might be a tough decision.

I went for a long time without going to Universal, and then when the whole Harry Potter thing came to be, everyone wanted to go when we went down, so I had to accommodate. I think we're probably going back next July too.

I love Boma, it's one of my favorite restaurants for sure. I love going there.

When I go back and read it I realize how little we really got accomplished. It's a good thing we're such laid back people, otherwise it would have felt like it was the biggest bust ever.

I'm glad that I can always make you laugh. I'm just a dork really. :lmao:

That's okay, it takes time to get caught up on these things, I know.

Thanks for saying that about my Grandma. It's been difficult to navigate, but we'll get through it.

There is a correlation between the consumption of libations and the quantity that you can accomplish while drinking.

I cannot remember who called it the Ditch. I think it was Mary Ellen (MEK), but honestly, I can't remember. She can correct me if I'm wrong. It's just a term that people in the DIS use, because that location is kind of like a Ditch. A little dark. But you should go. Their margaritas are sooooo good.

I had to reach really high to get Yeti in there. Fortunately, I'm pretty tall, so it worked out. I'm pretty crafty. :lmao:

I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. Scary that she was released before she was ready! I wish you guys all the best, I hope this stay helps her a lot!
Wow, what a rough day at universal! The wait times! Glad Farrell was a champ about it though.
Don't you just love people with no sense of personal space? FYI, I would be the ideal person to be in front of in a line because I like a LOT of personal space!

I keep getting weird looks from my boyfriend cause of all the giggling I was doing reading this! Love the report! Love you two! haha The pictures you had at MK...of the dresses (Cinderella and Aurora), where was that at? I have never seen it, or seen pics of it in anyone else's report!!

I'm so sorry about all the stuff yall are dealing with about your grandma. I hope everything works out for the best for her and for all of yall.

Your day sounds insane. I don't even know what else to say...

Boma looks delicious! I MUST VISIT!

It is scary that she was released before she should have been. But that leads me to a whole other debate on health care in our country that I just don't want to get into. I hope that this next stay helps her too.

Farrell was really a champ about it. I was glad she kept such a positive attitude, because it could have all gone downhill.

OMG, I'm the ideal line person too! For the same reason! I don't like to get very close to people, because I don't want to invade my OWN personal space by default......

I'm glad you're enjoying! I just like being stupid and silly really. And, people who know me well know that this is what I'm like in normal life. I just always have something sarcastic to say....

The dresses are at a shop in Fantasyland. I'm pretty sure it's Tinkerbell's Treasures? I can't remember if that's the one, I just know it's on the right side of the back of the castle in Fantasyland.

Thanks hon. It's been rough dealing with it, but I'm hopeful that everything will be okay for everyone.

I know, this day was so painful to write about, because I accomplished so little.

You must go to Boma! It's so amazing. Never had any bad food there.

Ok your new trip looks like fun. I accidently posted this here. I will fix it later. Gotta get ready for work.

Edited to say I moved my response over to the CORRECT TR!

Day 6 - Thursday January 5, 2012

Let's all get settled in for DHS round two, shall we?

I had changed our plans for this day after the disaster of a DHS day that we had due to the crowds. Our mission was clear. Get in, grab the Iguanadon, and get out.

Whoops. Wrong park, I'm sorry. Let me get myself straight here.

The mission was to get in to DHS, and get on Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.

We both got out of bed around 7:15am. We were out the door at 8am and heading to Captain Cooks. We got a pretty basic breakfast of bagels. I didn't take a picture. I figured you all know what a bagel looks like. In case you're curious or live in a drawer like Ralph Wiggum:

That's from a previous trip, when I DID think to take a picture of a bagel.

After breakfast we headed out to the car and drove over to DHS. We arrived to the gates at about 9:15am, so not too bad. We could see a difference in crowds already, so only time would tell how it would go for us.

My AP started acting all wonky at the gate and wouldn't scan. That bad boy was so inconsistent throughout the whole trip. But dangit, I was not about to get it replaced, because it had DONALD on it! Why on earth would I, the number one Donald fan of life, trade in my Donald AP? That's right, I'll just deal with it not working.

Our first destination once I actually got through the gate was Rockin' Roller coaster.

The wait time was posted at 35 minutes, but we figured we would just hop in line. That plan worked out, because we only waited about 15 minutes.

I NEVER get a picture of the alley!

Like a Redneck, like a redneck!

Did Farrell enjoy? You be the judge.

e29b2d19.jpg

Of course she enjoyed it! It's a ton of fun!

Afterwards, we headed to Tower of Terror, but the wait time was at 50 minutes already. So, we grabbed fastpasses and mulled over what we were going to do.

Farrell had been looking at a map and wanted to go and see One Man's Dream. Now, I love One Man's Dream, so I couldn't resist that.

One day I will go to Tokyo DisneySea.

f78973da.jpg

We spent a good amount of time there and Farrell really enjoyed looking at everything. She also really liked the movie and was surprised by how much she learned about Disney. I take it for granted that I've seen it so many times and I know everything inside and out.

After that, we started wandering over to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. First we made some pit stops to shop and I got my niece Riley a Darth Vader doll. Apparently, she had been watching the original trilogy and wanted that. I am always happy to oblige!

We made it to the stunt show and good LAWD it was packed. Farrell and I barely found a place to sit, and the only reason we did was because she's so dang little. :lmao:

It has been a number of years since I've seen this show, and both Farrell and I agreed that this was pretty cheesetastic. If I could go back, I would definitely not have gone. It's a bit outdated, and believe me I LOVE Indiana Jones. Just not this anymore.

But you know, it's always fun to see Indy get run over by a giant ball.

Finally, our fastpass return time had come up, so we headed over to Tower of Terror.

0d1f9c6b.jpg

Farrell was a bit nervous, so she decided there was no better way to make herself feel better than to cling to Yeti for dear life.

6effa342.jpg

We made it onto the ride in no time. Those fastpasses really came in handy. So, we get to the elevator and we get on the ride. Farrell is really really nervous at this point, and I'm telling her that it's going to be okay.

So everyone knows how this goes. You get on the elevator, it goes to the top, and starts to pull forward.

As soon as that happens, Farrell yells at the top of her lungs:

OH MY GOD, THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!!!!

:rotfl2: I could not stop laughing at that point, to which she says to me:

DEAR GOD, I JUST WANT IT TO DROP AND GET IT OVER WITH!!! I CAN'T TAKE THIS!!!!!!

She was clenching pretty tightly to the rails and holding on for dear life.

Redneck ride photo doesn't really give it justice. Upper left hand, back row.

e482fe47.jpg

Even after it was done, and I told her it was over, she totally didn't believe me. I mean, I'm ALWAYS a trustworthy person and tell the truth. :rolleyes1

After that, we decided that terror makes Farrell hungry. What to do, what to do?

Up Next: It's lunchtime yo!

Omg, poor Farrell! Haha I hate the tower, I can totally understand her reaction! I too just wanted it to drop and be done. However if she came off liking it at all, she did better than me!

haha, that is too funny about Farrell's reaction. That's kind of how I was the first time I rode, only I was too scared to even scream/say anything. Glad she enjoyed both RNRC and TOT!
