I said Ohana, not Obama!!!! - A BFF's do NYE TR **UPDATE 11/4 Pg. 38**

Let's all get settled in for DHS round two, shall we?

I had changed our plans for this day after the disaster of a DHS day that we had due to the crowds. Our mission was clear. Get in, grab the Iguanadon, and get out.

Whoops. Wrong park, I'm sorry. Let me get myself straight here.

:rotfl2: That's my favorite line from Dinosaur. That and "not our dino". :)

My AP started acting all wonky at the gate and wouldn't scan. That bad boy was so inconsistent throughout the whole trip. But dangit, I was not about to get it replaced, because it had DONALD on it! Why on earth would I, the number one Donald fan of life, trade in my Donald AP? That's right, I'll just deal with it not working.

Denny and I had the same trouble and we both ended up getting our APs replaced at some point. The gave us back Goofy. Maybe they don't change the character unless you ask.

Our first destination once I actually got through the gate was Rockin' Roller coaster.

I NEVER get a picture of the alley!

Like a Redneck, like a redneck!

Did Farrell enjoy? You be the judge.

e29b2d19.jpg

I have just having SO much fun cutting and pasting pictures I CAN'T SEE!!!!!!! Did you get the alley picture? Is Farrell smiling? I can't stand the suspense. :faint:

We spent a good amount of time there and Farrell really enjoyed looking at everything. She also really liked the movie and was surprised by how much she learned about Disney. I take it for granted that I've seen it so many times and I know everything inside and out.

I love this attraction and I think its great the Farrell wanted to see it all. I think every visitor should see it once.

It has been a number of years since I've seen this show, and both Farrell and I agreed that this was pretty cheesetastic.

Cheesetastic about sums it up.

As soon as that happens, Farrell yells at the top of her lungs:

OH MY GOD, THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!!!!

:rotfl2: I could not stop laughing at that point, to which she says to me:

DEAR GOD, I JUST WANT IT TO DROP AND GET IT OVER WITH!!! I CAN'T TAKE THIS!!!!!!

She was clenching pretty tightly to the rails and holding on for dear life.

Redneck ride photo doesn't really give it justice. Upper left hand, back row.

OK, this is too funny only because that is exactly how I feel when I am on ToT. I get all quiet and nervous and just think "let's get this drop over with all ready". I hate the suspense, but end up laughing and loving it in the end. Every time! :thumbsup2

I feel like I need to see the Indiana Jones show someday, just because I never have. I just don't really think I'll enjoy it all that much. Hahaha. I'm just one of THOSE.

Hahahah I had a similar reaction the first time I rode ToT! Serious mind games happening on that ride! :lmao:

Omg, poor Farrell! Haha I hate the tower, I can totally understand her reaction! I too just wanted it to drop and be done. However if she came off liking it at all, she did better than me!

I love the Tower! That's the funny part, I absolutely love the whole waiting to drop part and the randomness. I live for it! LOL.

haha, that is too funny about Farrell's reaction. That's kind of how I was the first time I rode, only I was too scared to even scream/say anything. Glad she enjoyed both RNRC and TOT!

I love that feeling. I can't get scared enough anymore, and that just drives me crazy. It's what I get for working at Six Flags Great America for six years, and literally having to ride things like Raging Bull and Giant Drop almost every day.

:rotfl2: That's my favorite line from Dinosaur. That and "not our dino". :)

That's totally my favorite line too! Oh, and "at least this one's a vegetarian". Hahaha. I love Dinosaur.

I hate picture problems! Okay, I did get the alley picture and Farrell is smiling.

I love this attraction and I think its great the Farrell wanted to see it all. I think every visitor should see it once.

I agree. I could go in there and see it every time. It's a good old standby.

Cheesetastic about sums it up.

I don't even think that's the word for it.

I love the suspense, it's the best part for me. I love wondering what the drop sequence is going to be like. Randomness for me is pretty awesome. I'm also a thrill junkie, sooooo......

I feel like I need to see the Indiana Jones show someday, just because I never have. I just don't really think I'll enjoy it all that much. Hahaha. I'm just one of THOSE.

You have to be open minded with Indiana Jones. Embrace it for it's cheesiness, and you'll be okay. :thumbsup2

I think I am with Farrell on the ToT ride. Once was enough for me thanks. And I have to say that DS seemed to enjoy my discomfort over the ride more than than ride itself. I was still shaking a half hour later. But I was glad I knocked it off my bucket list.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 You're pictures are great and you DID get the alley. Very cool!

I LOVE Tower of Terror! My Mom on the other hand, hates it. I always feel so bad that she hates it so much and every trip that we take, I leave it completely up to her whether or not she wants to go on it.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 You're pictures are great and you DID get the alley. Very cool!

Thanks! I was so proud of getting the alley, I always get so distracted when we get in there and I'm like "oooohhhh, ride!", that I never do anything but wait. :rotfl2:

Hahaha aww Ralph Wiggum! "I'm a furniture!"

Poor Farrell on the TOT! That was definitely a once-do for me as well!!

Ralph Wiggum is the best. "The Leprechaun tells me to burn things...."

I guess I'm pretty alone in my love of the Tower of Terror. Oh, wait, no, I know Jen (Nermal9), loves it too! :lmao:

OMG... When Farrell was yelling on the ToT... Thats exactly how I feel ... and yet somehow I like it too... maybe I'm a masochist...?

My upcoming trip is going to be the first time I've ridden RnRc and I'm a little nervous about it... I don't know why... I've ridden all the other Coasters... Space and Everest and Californian Screamin in DLR but for some reason I've always missed RnR and now I've built it up in my mind...:confused3 ... I don't mind the dark or the upside down... I'm just nervous... but by God, I will man up and do it...

Tokyo Disney Sea = :worship: Everything I've read and seen about it... Looks absolutely amazing...

I agree with you on the Indy Stunt Show...:rolleyes2 It's definitely dated and I absolutely adore the Indy movies... It really needs an update or a refresher or something... I think the Indy Ride at Disneyland is pretty fabulous though... I always thought for some reason that WDW would get that... hmmm....:scratchin

:rotfl2: That's my favorite line from Dinosaur. That and "not our dino". :)

We use the 'not our dino' line in real life now. When it fits that something is not right, one of us will come out with 'Not our dino!' Yeah, we're a little warped. :crazy2: But it's Disney-warped, so it's all good. ::yes::

I love the Tower! That's the funny part, I absolutely love the whole waiting to drop part and the randomness. I live for it! LOL.

People ask me if I ride Tower of Terror, and some seem very surprised when I say that it is one of my favorites. I guess they think I am too old. :confused3 They just don't realize what a kid I become when I am in WDW. Besides that, I am not that old, and I pretty much act like a kid even when I am at home, so they shouldn't really be so surprised. ;)

My favorite memory of Tower of Terror is when a friend's backpack went flying in the air because she didn't secure it. The man in front of us caught it in mid-air. :goodvibes The best ride I have ever had was one time with Drew, because we got a bazillion really cool drops. It was the best ever! And of course my first ride with Brooklynn was fun and special, too. :lovestruc

I think if you like thrill rides, all of us are a little masochistic, because we like to replicate that fear and uneasiness. :rotfl:

RnRC is not too bad. If you're been able to do California Screamin', you'll be fine on it. My Mom loves it, because being in the dark makes it easier for her (that's also because she's afraid of heights, so anything that helps her not see what's going on is a good thing).

I love the Indy ride in Disneyland, it's seriously one of my favorites. It's why I love Dinosaur, because it's the same thing. I would love it if they brought Indy to WDW.

I think we're all a tiny bit Disney-warped, using Disney quotes all the time. I do it too. :lmao: But that's okay.

I think people are funny, that if you're older, you can't do certain things. I say phooey on that. I have this one lady that works for me who is constantly AMAZED at the fact that my parents go to Disney World all the time and that they both love doing that stuff. I joked with her the last time that she's acting like my Dad has one foot in the grave already. :rotfl2: It keeps people young! Now, my Mom doesn't like ToT, but that's because she's been afraid of heights ever since she was little. That's a different story. She does love RnRC though.

That's a hilarious story! Jason and I had something like that happen at a ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. He had his glasses clipped to his shirt and completely forgot about it. So we get launched up (it was a ride called Superman's Escape), and when we get to the top, they literally came off of his shirt in slow motion. We also reacted in slow motion, because I remember him reaching out with his hand, and it seemed so slow and going "oh......my........glasses........" and then BAM we were falling back to the ground.

Moral of that story? The glasses are gone. :rotfl:

I love RnRC so much. I remember the first time we rode it in 1999 and I kept going around and around until Rick and Danielle told me to stop. We rode it six or seven times in a row. :lmao:

I remember that, I totally did have to tell you to stop, because I was like "okay already, I want to go and do something else!" :lmao:

Haha, OMG Farrell's reaction to the Tower of Terror was so funny! :rotfl2: I love that ride soooo much, it's funny to hear what people think of it after the first time they go on! :thumbsup2 Glad she liked RnRC too, those rides are the best!

It was pretty funny. I had no idea that she was going to react that way. I do think she would do it again.

I miss the thrill of the first time of things. I live to see other people go on it....and tend to laugh at their expense. :lmao:

Day 6 - Thursday January 5, 2012

So we left off Farrell having just survived the Tower of Terror. And to answer everyone's questions regarding whether or not she liked it, she did. I think it just took her by surprise more than anything. But I think ToT tends to do that to some people. :lmao:

It became evident to us that apparently, terror makes people hungry. We had one destination in mind.

Before we left, our friend Amber had talked up Earl of Sandwich to Farrell a lot, so she was super excited to try it and I had promised her. We had accomplished what we needed to, so we figured we could take the time to head to DTD to eat some lunch and do some shopping.

We left Hollywood Studios, hopped in the car, and headed downtown. Now, anyone who drives and parks DTD knows that it's always impossible to find parking on the Marketplace side, regardless of the time of day. This day was no exception. Thankfully, there were no parking lot incidents and I did not need to resort to calling anyone a Jackwagon. I found a space and pulled in. :dance3: No name calling necessary.

EoS was very crowded. No surprise, right? However, I told Farrell that the line actually does move really quickly, and it did. We hopped in line and ordered our sandwiches. Farrell separated from me at that point and managed to find a seat for us too! Score!

Soon, our hot sandwiches of goodness came to us.

9e5dc189.jpg

I got the Earl's Club and Farrell got the original.

Did it live up to the expectations that Amber had built up in Farrell's mind?

It did. She loved it and named it a must do for the next time we came back to the world.

After that, it was time to shop around the world. I didn't take many pictures, so I apologize for that in advance. But, we made the normal stops. TrenD, World of Disney.

We bought a bunch of stuff at TrenD. I always do, seriously that place is like a black hole for me. I get sucked in and can't come out without having bought something.

We got two shirts for me, a tank top for Farrell, four necklaces for me, a bunch of pins (you know, like 80's style round pins) between the two of us, and two coffee mugs for my parents from Farrell as a thank you for allowing us to use their points. I promise, I have gotten much better at taking pictures of souvies.

Then it was off to World of Disney. We didn't buy as much there, I got Farrell a stuffed Eeyore, a Donald for me, a Stitch for Farrell's nephew, a few keychains, the castle blanket and some Mickey pretzels for my Dad. My shopping was basically done at that point.

After our shopping extravaganza which took a few hours (because really, that's how long shopping takes), we headed back to the room to relax a little bit before dinner and start getting a little more organized since our last day was the next day. :(

The weather actually warmed up nicely on this day to 70 degrees, which was a far cry from what it had been the last few days. After our relaxing time, it was time to head back to DTD for our dinner reservation at Raglan Road. :goodvibes

We left the resort at 6:20pm because I wanted to double check at Cirque du Soleil to see if we could get tickets for the 9pm showing. They were only selling standby at that point and had single seats available at that point. We talked about coming back to wait standby, but decided we weren't going to. We wanted to relax at dinner and have a good old time.

We made it to Raglan Road and they told us they were running a little behind on reservations so we would have to wait a while. I heard that this seems to be the norm there, has anyone else had that problem?

So, while we waited, what do you do? Get some beer, that's what you do. LOL. I got a Guinness (my absolute favorite), and Farrell got Blue Moon. Not too long after that, our buzzer went off.

The hostess started taking us to our seat, but when she got there, the table we were supposed to have was not available. I felt like Goldilocks and the Three Bears...."who's been sitting in MY CHAIR?!"

She said we would have to wait briefly and we said whatever. I mean, nothing we can do about that.

However, the manager had overheard the exchange and told us if we would wait about 2 minutes, he would get us a seat in the main area by the stage. We were happy for that and said that would be great.

We were seated really quickly after that and Farrell and I both loved the atmosphere at the place. So lively and so fun! Plus, our seats being taken worked in our favor, because our seats were excellent!

The menu absolutely cracks me up here!

I ordered the Bangers and Booz.

db025192.jpg

Farrell ordered It's Not Bleedin' Chowder. I thought I had a picture, but I don't. Weird. Both of them were really good. Farrell said that the chowder was a little rich, but still very good.

We loved being so close to the entertainment!

02db00f0.jpg

One little side note....I know for a fact that if I continued to drink, you would have likely gotten a brief picture of me standing up there trying to dance ala :dance3:, and then would have been followed by a picture of me being hauled off by Disney security.......:rolleyes1

The one damper on our meal is that we were seated by a lady we will refer to as Mrs. Craberson.

So, she was one of those people just aren't happy regardless of their location. You know the kind I'm talking about right? The kind that's impossible to please, that if you work in the service industry, you just don't want to have?

Well, apparently they had ordered at the bar and then were moved to a table. Well, they hadn't gotten their food at the bar, so as soon as they were seated at their table she snaps, "I'm going to get my food this time, right?!"

Farrell and I proceeded to roll our eyes at each other, because we knew she was just going to complain the whole nigh. :headache:

So the runner comes from the back of the kitchen with their food. Places it in front of them, and the lady says "wait, why are there mashed potatoes, and I though it was baked salmon on smoked salmon?!"

This poor guy is a runner. He's not a server. He's not as familiar with the menu as the servers are. He said honestly that he wasn't sure about the salmon, but this was the only salmon on the menu that he was aware of. She continued to argue with him NON STOP and then demanded he get the server. The server came back and explained that the baked part is the top of the salmon and that the bottom is the smoked portion. Mrs. Craberson then starts to complain that the other "server" didn't know what he was talking about. Our server politely pointed out that he is not a server, but just a runner from the kitchen, and is not as familiar with the menu as she is. Then the lady continues "I didn't know it came with mashed potatoes!" (Seriously lady, read much?), to which our server says "oh, is that not okay? I can change that", only to be told by the lady that it was fine.

 I can't handle these kind of people, I have no patience for them. If it was okay in the end that there were mashed potatoes, why even bring it up in the first place?

Just so I didn't look like I was talking about them, I sent the following text to Farrell:

"Mwah mwah mwah, grumble, complain".

She laughed and we both agreed that people who are going to complain will just complain regardless of what's going on. They're just not happy. Mrs. Craberson did not appear to be having a good time during the entire meal! Really, why be so cynical? A place like Raglan Road is a blast, and honestly, this crabby lady put a damper on my meal!

One consolation is that Mr. Craberson looked like he was ready to go and chuck her out the door.

:lmao:

Well, even though our company wasn't great, our meal was and Farrell and I still had a good time. Then it was time for dessert.

I got the Dunbrody Kiss.

1fb654a1.jpg

Farrell got the bread pudding, which I forgot to get a picture of.

Man, that Dunbrody Kiss was like chocolate layered on chocolate with a base of chocolate. It was very good though, but way too much for one person.

We had such a good time at Raglan Road, we gave up on any attempts to go and see Cirque du Soleil. We just wandered around Pleasure Island aimlessly for quite some time. I don't even know how long.

So long Raglan Road, and SO LONG MRS. CRABERSON!

This week seemed to fly by, because we had been having such a good time.

Up next: Our last day in the World. :sad1:

Sounds like a great afternoon in the world.

We love Eos. It's one of DHs must dos. It's always so packed there though!

TrenD never gets me, but Team Mickey sure does. I never seem to leave there without a few new things:lmao:

We've never done Raglan Road (or Cirque for that matter), but it gets such great reviews her on the Dis that I know we've got to try it some day. Were there many kids in the restaurant? I think DD would really like the dancing, but I have the impression that it's more of a grown up place.

I have waited my share of tables and I know exactly the type of person you are talking about. l really hate it when people are constantly negative. I think inside my head .."man, it must really suck to be you." I call them wankers. And I can't stand them. Don't complain !! DO something about it !!! And be nice while you are at it. It just make you look bad if you aren't nice.

I love EoS too, but you are right it is always jam packed with people. There have been a few instances where I haven't been willing to wait for it, because it's just been too full.

Kids at Raglan Road are fine! There were plenty of them there when we were. I think it's a really fun environment and they would love the dancing for sure.

I've never waited tables before, but both of my brothers have, so I am still protective of servers to this day. I've worked in different service industries like retail, so I've encountered people that are similar. I just don't get it. Just be nice and everything will work out, even if you feel you have to complain about something, just be nice about it! Seriously.

Food & shopping! An awesome update! Haha. I haven't eaten at either, but EoS looks like it might have to make the list next time! Nom nom!

Oh my goodness! How I made it out of TrenD without anything this trip was astounding! That store is just my favsies!

Ugh, people like the crabersons just kill me, especially working in the service industry. People don't understand that they *really* shouldn't be rude to people who are handling their food, or drinks, haven't they seen the movie Waiting? :lmao: (not that it ever gets that bad where I work, but really, respect people who deal with food)

Who doesn't love food and shopping? :lmao:

You definitely have to put EoS on the list next time. The line is normally very long, but it moves very very quickly. The only problem you may tend to have is getting a seat.

I know, those kind of people just drive me crazy. I don't understand how you can be so crabby and cynical with life in general. Don't worry, be happy!

Hahaha, I have seen Waiting......it really is a testament to how you should NOT behave in a restaurant because you don't know what will happen.
