This is not about disney, but I really need help with this.:sad2: I took my dog Sophi to Petsmart to get groomed. She is a 4 lb yorkie. :lovestruc I waited for them to call me to come pick her up and they never called. I decided I was going to stop in and check on her. They lady asked me if I was Sophi's mom and said she had been cut and was over at the vets office.:scared1: I didn't really know what to say. I just wanted to see my dog. I walked back to the vet office and they said she had been cut so bad she needed stitches and the cut was about 1in long.:sad1: they had to give her all kinds of meds. It is really bad. I'm not sure what to do now. What would you do if this was your dog??:sad2:

First of all I'm so sorry your baby was injured!

Well, for starters, I'd be making sure they were going to pay for all her vet bills, period, including any follow up appointments etc.

Second of all, I wouldn't be paying for her groom.

I think that sometimes dogs do get cut while being groomed. It doesn't mean that it was a bad groomer necessarily, but I don't think I would use them ever again either.

As long as she is okay and they are paying for her medical care I can't really see what else to advise you to do.

Although if they have groomed her before and never had a problem, it just could have been a freak accident. I have a friend who has a bicho frise that was cut pretty badly by a groomer once. They had always gone to this groomer with no issues up until then. The cut left a pretty good scar and the fur never grew completely back. The groomer felt so bad that she offered to groom this dog for the rest of it's life for free. My friend still tips her after every groom, but she lets her groom her dog still.

Anyway, hope your baby gets better soon!:cutie:

OMG! That's AWFUL. Poor thing. :sad1:

I would definitely say you need to be compensated somehow. (Not that that will make Sophi feel better), but something should be done for you!

Did they offer to do anything?? What did they say??

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for Sophi...pixiedust:

They didn't even call me. They just said that I didn't have to pay for the groom and they would pay for that vet. They have a vet inside Petsmart. I called today to see if they would pay for me to take her to her Vet. They told me that I had to pay out of pocket first and they would pay me back. :sad2: I told them I wasn't paying anything out of pocket. I also asked for them to pay for her to get groomed at another place. They said no because she could get her groom finished in a few days by them. I told them they wasn't ever going to touch my dog again.

I called and asked for the main office number and they told me that they would like to handle it in the store. He told me to call back in 30 min to talk to the main manager. I called back and he said that the manager told him to tell me all that stuff. It mad me mad because I would think that the manager would want to talk to me himself. He wouldn't let me talk to him when I asked to speak with the manager. I really feel like they are blowing this off. I'm not sure how other people are with dogs, but mine is like my child. We treat her just like a person.

I am so, so sorry to hear about your dog. That is really cruddy.

For years, I have been scared to ever get my dog groomed at all, and will never ever take a dog to get groomed at Petsmart, because one of my mom's best friends lost her dog while he was getting groomed there. Her greyhound, Mister, died while getting dried off because he got too overheated.

I can't imagine what you are going through!

I would keep at them until you get a satisfactory answer. They need to cover everything as they were the ones that caused the problem to begin with. Keep on corporate if the store doesn't take care of this matter to your satisfaction. Threaten them with legal action if necessary. You may also be able to file a complaint with your state's attorney general's office as well. They may be able to help throw in some muscle if your words aren't working.

They were completely in the wrong and you should have been notified the second something went wrong.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, but stay strong and stay on the phone until someone does the right thing.

I am sending well wishes for you baby!! here is the info for the corporate office:

CEO Mr. Bob Moran
PetSmart, Inc.
Store Support Group
19601 North 27th Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85027
(623) 580-6100
(800) 738-1385

Your local store dropped the ball on this one and I would not think twice about calling the corporate office and discussing it with Mr. Moran. I would call and just say that I am returning his call and they should put you thru. Good luck!

I'm so sorry for your dog where was the cut?
I can't believe they didnt call you:mad:

It sounds as if they are trying to shove you off, I would raise HELL I would call corporate and go back to Petsmart and and speak face to face with the manager someone will pay for what they did to my dog:furious:!

Thnakfully she is doing well..

I would not let this go. First off they should have called you and let you know what happened. Secondly the manager needs to talk to you personally and give you the info you requested about corporate. I would call and talk to the corporate people and tell them the entire story about how they are trying to brush you off.

Poor puppy.

Thank you guys so much for your help. I called the main office and now we are just waiting for a call back. :rolleyes1

I'm anxious to hear how you make out with corporate, and how Sophi is feeling today! Please keep us posted.

She seems to be doing ok today. She sleeps a lot because of her meds. She doesn't leave my side though. She follows me everywhere. I thank she is still very scared.:sad2:

I would probably file a police report about the incident. You never know if you may need it at a later date. If you end up in court to get back monies spent at your vet and for a new groomer, you'll need that report. Also, it doesn't hurt to help potential future victims of this groomer and pet store, should they also end up in a similar situation, or in court. There will be a paper trail that this has happened in the past, and that the store knew about it, dating back to when your poor yorkie was injured.

Hugs to your furry baby.

:grouphug:
to you and your furbaby!

Please keep us posted.....

My dog but BIT at petsmart during shots (they have vaccination clinics) SOme crazy lady knew her dog bit and did not even have hers muzzled. SO I reported it as a dangerous dog and she no longer can go there, meanwhile my dog had to have ointment (which they gave me) but no stitches...I would have blown a gasket if that were the case.
I wound up getting the VET that used to go to different stores an she now comes to my home and has her own practice, I really like it and it is a great convenience. I no longer use outside groomers and they BURNED my dogs little hiney with the tool, it was so hot from doing dog after dog...what a nightmare...I do it all myself now...and I do not mind it at all..............besides saving $$$, its great bonding time as well...he just hangs out and relaxs while I trim away...I LOVE LOVE my pup! (he's 9 not a pup, really!)

Excellent advice! I think this will have the added value of getting their attention, as well. ;)

Poor sweet pup... tell her Happy, a little tibetan spaniel in NJ, send lots of doggie kisses and hope's she is feeling better :goodvibes

I'm so sorry to hear your baby was injured, but glad to hear that she is doing ok. I would be so upset if my dog had been hurt. I have a pom that I adore. I have always been terrified to leave her at Petsmart or Petco after hearing the horror stories of some dogs that have been injured and killed at their grooming salons. Just google it and you'll come up with enough stories to scare you to death. I use a private groomer that comes to my house, and I stay and watch the entire time. I'm sure that freak accidents do happen, but I would never leave my baby alone at a petstore and not see what is going on at all times. Definitely keep pursuing things with the management until you are satisfied. Lots of love to your pup. :flower3:

They never called me back today. I think I will be calling back as soon as I get up. They are going to get so sick of me calling. I don't really care though. They are not going to blow this off. A police report is a very good idea. Thank u guys so much. I'm going to give her lots of puppy love from you guys:).
