What the big deal about free water is? I've never been refused water anywhere that I can think of. I do live in Canada though. Is this a US or California thing to only sell bottled water? Here if there is a tap, they give it for free. It's a good tip, don't get me wrong, but why do people seem so amazed by it?

I think it's just that people don't think Disney is going to give anything away. They sell expensive Dasani, so people don't think to ask. It's not a big deal, it's just a useful bit of info people want to give newbies.

There are many places (read - restaurants) that will charge for water. Even out of the tap.

Are you going to be bringing reuseable water bottles with filters? That's what many others are suggesting. I'm assuming I can just get those at Walmart or Target....coming from BC we know we have good water (though not as good as it was back in the early 80's!!)

I think it is just a good reminder to ask for free water. Water is so important, but sometimes we forget to ask for it when there are so many other options.

Really? I need to send you a new list of restaurants to frequent. In CA I have never been charged for a glass of water from a restaurant. I would love to know what places have had to nerve to charge you for tap water --- so I make sure to never eat there.

While I've never been charged for tap water, I have been to a few restaurants (counter service places) that give me literally a tiny paper Dixie cup of it. It's a clear message to me that they want you buying soda or bottled water instead!

I've never had a problem with disneyland water. Im going bring juice boxes and pour them over a glass of ice for the girls at counter service places, as well as water bottles to fill with waterI'm not picky, but if I can save paying 3-4$ for a bottle of juice everyday I will.

When I worked at McDonald's (eons ago), we could give out "courtesy cups" full of water. They were small and didn't hold much. If a customer wanted a regular cup of water, we would have to charge the price of a soda. Soda is pretty cheap in quantity. It's really the cup you're paying for at fast food places.

Where? And what was the charge?

The counter service places all give free water. Places that don't send you to the closest place that does. Some have bigger cups than others. Wasn't given the option to pay even once, just redirected to the correct place.

I'm pretty sure there are plenty of restaurants that would refuse to serve water to someone who isn't otherwise a paying customer. At least at DL all the restaurants will do so upon request regardless of whether or not the guest is buying something.

How about paper cones? Nothing says "Here's your water cheapskate," like getting served 4 ounces of water or ice in a cone cup that one can't even put down.

I can't remember when or where because we now carry refillable bottles, but they had to charge me for the cup.

I don't think anywhere in DLR does that, do they?

I would have gone somewhere else. We're you eating there? Was it counter service or sit down? I can see it in a sit down place where you aren't eating, but anything else is just ridiculous.

I always carry my water bottle and fill up during the water rides. Sometimes it may taste a bit funny but the stomach viruses keep me at my ideal weight

I live in California and there are restaurants that have charged for tap water during droughts. It's probably more a measure of conserving water than just refusing to give it for free.
