I passed a house with a bright blue door

What you probabaly saw was what some southern cultures refer to as "haint blue". It is relatively common in the rural areas of Georgia. It is said that painting your door this color with help ward off evil spirits. If I painted my door this color, I would be more worried about the "evil neighborhood association" spirits.:rotfl:

VERY TRUE!:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We have a blue front door too. (midnight blue, though, not bright at all). When we built, we were going to go with a neutral door and the builder told us to add color with the door. This gives your house a central focusing point and better curb appeal.

Our front door is a fourth color, not used on any trim but the door. One for siding, one for window/wood trim, one for shutters, one for door. It doesn't mean anything except it is a great way to make a house look great.:) No blue though, but I wouldn't think it signifies anything.

The blue that is being mentioned is I guess the very pale robin's egg color I've see around here before?? Never on a door but often on the ceiling of front porches. I never h eard it was spiritual, I always heard it was to ward off bugs. Who knew??

I would assume it means that they like blue doors

Around here the many folks have doors painted a third or fourth color. We have a blue front with plain old shingles on the other three sides). The trim is cream, accents in black and door is cranberry. Our neighbor has gold, another black, another purple.

DSis paints her door a fourth color every two years. Easy and cheap way to change the look of your house.

That explains why im only visited by good spirits.

Another possibility: the house could belong to a "Doctor Who" fan. In the "Doctor Who" Christmas special "The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe", Amy and Rory have their front door painted Tardis blue. It's possible that some "Who" fans have followed this example.

Welcome to the DIS...odd choice for a first post, this is what we here call a Zombie post, as it was originally posted 10 years ago!

I don't know about blue, but my ex mother in-law had a bright red door, and the house was a light grey color. The red door did have a meaning. It meant that the owner of the house had bad taste.
