I need some input on my dining itinerary.

Hello all! this is my first post ever on this board. I am planning a trip to disney in March of 2012. This will be my first time going to disney as an adult (the previous time, my family chose where and when we were doing things, which at this point I appreciated! ahah!) I would appreciate any feedback you could give me. I'm having a little anxiety about transportation. we will be staying at the all-music resort... and I just don't know how long it will take to get to certain places so it's hard for me to pick times for reservations... ANYWAYS.... also keep in mind that we will be on the deluxe dining plan. Thanks in advance!

You have so many great choices.

to the boards. There is a lot of information avaialbale and it can seem overwhelming at times but you have several months to digest it.

The Coplete Guide to Disney World has a lot of information also. One item they have is a chart with rough estimates on travel time using your car or Disney transportation.

For example a bus from ASMu to

Epcot - 29 minutes
MK - 22
DHS - 23
DAK - 22
DTD - 27

In your car

Epcot - 18
MK - 37
DHS - 16
DAK - 11
DTD - 13

This assumes an average wait time for the bus which is why it is slower on a bus for all but the MK.

You will find it harder to go from resort to resort. For Whispering Canyon, Cef Mickey's and Ohana you need to take the MK bus and transfer to a boat or the monorail. The Contemporary is a short walk from the MK bus stops for you CM breakfast.

You have a lot of good and entertaining places chosen. Be aware of a couple of things; 1) A couple of days you have a lot of food - you may find yourself stuffed and 2) You may find you're spending a lot of time eating and not in the parks. Some people don't mind that. Our kids want to spend more time in the parks so we have cut down on our TS dining for the time being.

I think it's good to have a day open to choose where you want to go. We have gotten to the point of letting the kids decide. The last two trips we have hit three parks on our last day to hit the rides the kids wanted ride again.

Congratulations on making some great selections for your ADRs. I wouldn't change a thing! The PPs have given you some really good information about transportation for your resort meals, so you can now relax and enjoy the anticipation of your upcoming visit. Good job!

You have a lot of good choices there! As far as transportation goes, there are two things I notice as longer trips than I'd personally want:

Breakfast at Whispering Canyon - this will require you bus to the Magic Kingdom then take a slow boat over to Wilderness Lodge. For my family, that would be too much time getting to breakfast; they'd almost need a snack to make sure they aren't cranky before we get there! When I'm staying at a value/moderate resort I pretty much stick to monorail resort or park breakfasts for ease of transportation.

Dinner at Boma - getting there isn't a problem, just bus over from Animal Kingdom at the end of your park day. But getting back can be a headache, requiring one longish bus ride to an open park and then another back to the All Stars (which are in the same part of Disney property as AK). We did it once for a dinner at Jiko and decided next time we'll just spring for a cab afterwards; saving $15 isn't worth spending over an hour going from one bus to another.

Beyond that... I think you're going to find your MK day to be way too much food. Liberty Tree Tavern is a delicious choice but large portions and heavier foods make it a very filling lunch, almost too much so. Squeezing it in between two buffets seems like a bad idea unless you're okay with hitting the character meals for entertainment value and eating light at those.

The same goes for your Animal Kingdom day, for slightly different reason. The food at Yak & Yeti isn't as heavy/filling as Liberty Tree, but Animal Kingdom hours are so short that you're pretty limited in your ability to space out meals. Even first seating at Tusker House would mean finishing up breakfast around 9, and having dinner at Boma makes the most sense with a reservation shortly after park closing, around 6 or so. At best you're going to have 4ish hours between the end of one meal and the start of the next, which just isn't enough time to be hungry again in my experience.

I have changed my MK day and AK day I do realize now that I would rather have more time to spend in the park than just eat haha! also thanks for the clarification on transportation. We will not be travelling with any kids but I still don't want to do a crazy amount of transfers just to go to dinner. I can't wait for Disney!!

I'd think twice about trying to get from ASMusic to Chef Miky and then back to Epcot! Especially during Spring Break. By the time you get to Epcot there will be a 90 minute wait at Soarin.

I would budget for a couple cab rides. We lost patience with the amount of time it was taking in transfers.
