Our family friend passed away July 4th and I had some photos of she and Aiden. The colored ones SUCKED (pardon me). The color was so wonky. :( But I loaded Photoshop 3 ;) Taking a test drive.

Thoughts? Some of the pictures look the same but they are not. Like one she is in focus and Aiden is blurred, another she is blurred but Aiden is clear. :) I was playing hehehee.
Karen, her daughter was so glad we took these photos. I really like the black and whites. Please be honest. I want to make a print and frame it for Karen, but I am unsure what size. I don't want some wall size photo but I think an 8x10 might be too small? And if any changes need to be made.
Karen's mom "adopted" Aiden as her Great-grandchild. He is even being included in the Eulogy. *sob*

I am going to add more black around the edges to offset the printing... make sure nothing gets cut off. I need to print it by tomorrow (Saturday) so I need to make any changes today.

Thanks for your input!

I've tried this sort of collage before, and the only thing I can add is consider how you will be viewing the final print. If it is framed, will it be matted? And if so, do you have enough black around the final edge to overlap the back of the mat? I made the mistake of sizing and printing to exactly the size I wanted, not taking into account the mat will overlap part of the image, and therefore the borders didn't look right.

Nice work!

I thought of that too and was in the process of fixing it :)

Check out http://www.lumapix.com I LOVE this collage program. I have been using it for 3 or 4 years now. I want to upgrade to the cream of the crop version of this program but can't bite the bullet. :)

i love the second copy, might even like a little bigger mat or maybe a pin stripe a little bit out from the photos to corral them a little more and include the names in the "art" then the black mat to set them off? not sure what all you can do with that program( ie black band like you have it , maybe 1/4-12" outfrom the photos a white pin stripe around all , black matt)
anyway if that looks dumb it looks nice the way it is...and what a wonderful thoughtful gesture:thumbsup2

That is lovely. My only suggestion would be to center the text in that box or maybe to align it on the right. I agree with everyone else about making sure you have enough black border. If you buy a ready made frame or mat, it will cover about 1/4 inch on each side of a standard size print.

Very nice pictures.. and the b/w is very classy.

If you are going to frame this for a wall, I think you will be surprised at how quickly this is going to look small.

For example, print even a 'draft' image on any printer at 8x10 (since it still fits on normal paper). The step back a foot or 2 - like it would be on a wall. You'll be shocked at how small it is.

Since you are putting together many pics, megapixels isn't any kind of an issue. At one online site for b&w paper (mpix) 8x10 is $2.50, 11x14 is $9, 12x12 is $7. You can probably get cheaper with normal paper, but I wouldn't. The frame will cost more than the picture, so 11x14 would be the place I'd start (or if you're going to custom matte or frame it, maybe 12x12 since its square?

I agree. The text looks a bit off to me, and I think that changing its alignment within its space would be better.

What a lovely thing to do, and the photos are beautiful.

What a lovely tribute. I like the large mat better and agree about the text. I would try right jusitfication and see how that looks. Again, it is lovely.

my husband changed the font type on me :P Men!

I thought I had it to the right and I know I have that option so I will try that. I am not sure about pin striping it. I know what your saying... I am just not 100% sure I can do it but I will play around and see :D

Costco is being cruddy... won't let me print the 16x20 or 20x20 :( It did in the past. I mean I *can* but they want to mail it to me. I want to just pick it up. Ticking me off. The gathering is tomorrow night. *grrrr*

If costco won't do it in time, try a photo shop.. It will cost you a bit more, but will be worth it! It will look great!

Still not sure I am digging the text...

I ordered a 12x18. :/ I figure if I don't like it, I can give it to her and will order her the bigger print.
