Well...due to unforseen circumstances we need to cut back a bit on our upcoming trip so we decided to stay...gulp....offsite. It's really Ok since the parks close early we would be heading out to do something anyway.
So...where to stay??? We want to be near Disney. Shuttle busses aren't important as we always drive anyways. We are looking for either 2 rooms or a suite. My MIL is coming with us and it would be nice if she kinda had her own area since she doesn't stay up as late as us. We were thinking HIFS since the rooms would work and they have onsite entertainment. Then again 2 rooms at HI at DTD would work too. Where else is there?
What do you all suggest? Where should I look and where will I get the best deal? What good deals are going on at hotire beside the HI at DTD? There are 6 of us all together. Thanks!!!

We stayed at the HIFS in Sept. and loved it! There's always something going on, and the whole atmosphere of the place is just fun! The rooms are large, and your MIL can have her own space. There is a king bed in the bedroom, bunkbeds or two twin beds in the kidsuite, and a fold out sofa bed. The free breakfast buffet was really good too. I had heard that they are going to be remodeling soon to become a Nickelodean Resort, don't know if that's started yet though. They were supposed to be adding slides to the pool and stuff like that, as well as Nick themed rooms.

The only hesitancy we are having about HIFS is it is only a $200 diffference from the 2 rooms at ASSMO.

HIFS is $918, ASMO is $1243.
Hmmmm...guess my math was off, that a difference of $325.
Still would like to find a better deal.
HI DTD would be about $575. (that's a much better figure! LOL)

I do like the idea tho of breakfast buffets included. We could then not do Donalds Breakfast and save about $100. there. The only reason we would do donalds is to have a big breakfast one day. We usually do breakfast in the room with stuff I bring.
Looks like I'll be doing alot of refiguring.
I still need help though on lodging.

Try Cypress Pointe. They had 2 bedrooms for $64 and 3 bedrooms for $80 on hotelkingdom.com

A 3 BR at cypress point will give everyone a lot of space!

The only thing I don't like about places like HIFS is that someone (2 people in your situation) has to sleep on a sofa bed. I just don't find them that comfortable! Plus they're in the living room so it's not very private.

Only 1 bathroom with 6 people could be a bit of a problem. :)

Hmmmm....you always drive yet stay on-site and seem to think off-site is a step down? I'm not quite sure I understand. I've always felt ons-ite was a step down. Anyhow....depends how much you want to spend. Vistana Village is wonderful. A few others I could recommend in that class also. Staybridge Suites LBV is nice. Right next to DTD. You could get a one or two bedrrom suite for under $100.

Heck we rented a 4 bedroomvilla at christmas for 840.00 including tax-the pool heat was extra 135.00 per week. so that would make a 4br villa with pool heat(private pool and jacuzzi) around 975.00. Now this villa had a two car gargage, a master suite with own bathroom with roman tub large walkin shower and double sinks plus separate toilet are, the bed was king size, another master suite with a quenn size bed and won bathroom, and two bedrooms with2 twin size beds and these two br shared a bathroom, a dining area a breakfast area a living room with tv, vcr dvd, and playstation 2, some movies and some playstation two games, a complete kitchen with microwave, fridge withice maker, stove, dishwasher and plenty of dishes, four stools around the bar, and a washer and dryer inthe garage. HMMMM, what do you think. I know you can find villaa even cheaper that that, you could get by with a 3 BR, and you are not there during high season which is more expensive. You might even be able to pick up some last minute deals. We stayed in Indian Creek, it is just behind splendid china about 5 minutes to disney. Several other estates in that area. Have gotten pretty familiar with the area so ask if you have any questions. :smooth:

I never said it was a step down...I said that tongue in cheek. We always drive because I find it to be a pain getting on busses with an ECV. We like staying onsite because if the children want to do something on their own, they can take the bus.
Anyways, I will look into Staybridge. Vistana doesn't have anything then :-(

I would love to find info on places like Indian Creek it sounds great...where do I look?

For the particular villa we stayed in go to www.5starfloridavilla.co.uk, also you can try www.vrbo.com, and then click on florida, then central florida and it will list the different subdivisions, there is also another website with message boards that have a lot of villa owners on it and that is www.orlando-guide.info/forums from there you can check out three different web-sites or you can make an inquiry and the villa owners will contact you direct. :sunny:
